One really pleasant surprise about Malta was the presence of a couple of really nice pieces of street art in close proximity to our hotel, like these faces on the side of phonebooths.
One of two images of a Brown Pelican I saw on a beach by the causeway leading to Sanibel Island, Florida, USA, during my visit in February, 2018. Both pelicans & egrets sit close to the fishermen, hoping for hand-outs! This was my first chance to observe pelicans at short range. I really enjoyed watching them fly, too! Several might fly together, transitioning from flapping to gliding with almost synchronized swimming grace!

The whole second level of this huge temple is filled with 57 of these statues. Some of them are tall enough to have a small room inside and a patch of light entering from an opening at the top. The scale can be seen by finding the human starting to cross in front of the door way. When I wondered among them I could see these faces in every direction. It gave a blend of feelings - of being watched and also a sense of protection.
As I mentioned in an earlier shot of these statues, since the temple was built about a thousand years ago, no one knows now if the statues represent the Buddha or Jayavharman, the Khmer king who had this, and some other temples built during his reign.

This came off of my classmate's fingernail. It somehow found it's way to the underside of my forearm so I decided to put it on my face, thus cracking up my classmate who had to take a pic.
My son found a can of whipped cream on his walk home from school. Knowing it was not a good idea to eat it, he decided to play with it. He chose to make the smiley face on our front walkway!
