A slender and elegant, medium-sized shorebirds with long yellow legs and a long neck. The bill is straight and thin, only slightly longer than the bird's head (shorter and straighter than Greater Yellowlegs' bill).

Thanks to all who take the time to view, comment on and favor my images. It is very much appreciated.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

John 14:1-3

"The Western Snowy Plover is a threatened small shorebird, approximately the size of a sparrow. During the breeding season, March through September, plovers can be seen nesting along the shores, peninsulas, offshore islands, bays, estuaries, and rivers of the United States' Pacific Coast from Oregon to California." Information from audubon.org "Young Snowy Plovers leave the nest within 3 hours of hatching and are able to forage unassisted almost immediately (though the parents still brood them periodically to keep them warm). If a predator approaches, the parent gives a signal and the chicks flatten themselves against the ground. Snowy Plovers often raise 2 broods of chicks a year. Females occasionally desert their mates when the chicks hatch to begin a new nest with a different male." A female Belted Kingfisher since on a fence waiting to fly off to fish in the river at Cocagne NB-DSC_5483

This guy was on one side of the bridge I was standing on, as I observed him. Apparently he wanted to get to the other side, but instead of just walking a few feet under the bridge, he flew up and passed within feet of me, to land on the other side to fish, The fish must be better there, but I couldn't help but think how much more energy he must have spent to take flight like that!

This was an unexpected happening, all of a sudden I saw this crow jumped into the water and picked a fish. I tried to capture it as much as I can.

I think here you can also notice the unusual shape of the beak, hence it being a broadbill.

I have all my photos organized in albums by species and family. However, so far, this is the only member of this family that I have photographed.

In my opinion, the most beautiful one is the black-and-yellow, but to capture it, I need to return to Malaysia and not miss the opportunity.

==================***==================

All my photos are now organized into sets by the country where they were taken, by taxonomic order, by family, by species (often with just one photo for the rarer ones), and by the date they were taken.

So, you may find:

- All the photos for this trip Vietname (2022) (206)

- All the photos for this order PASSERIFORMES (3553)

- All the photos for this family Eurylaimidae (Eurilaimídeos) (6)

- All the photos for this species Serilophus lunatus (6)

- All the photos taken this day 2022/12/12 (31)

This old barn is all sorts of racked - I don't think a single side is square, but the 45 of the roof is stiill pretty good. I nearly walked right past this when I saw the old 'bigwheel' toy bike sitting there, almost in the middle of the barn door bay.

Images like this one, even simple compositions, speak across the generations when you see something like that old big wheel. That was once so loved by someone. Now it almost makes you sad to think about it. It's almost like it's sitting there like a puppy, awaiting its child to come back for it.

This is my reward for doing a little work installing a dishwasher this morning. We decided to walk over to a little park near our house and see if we could find any hawks since the sun was peaking through. This Red-shouldered Hawk was on top of a tower, and took off just as I fired away! My shutter should have been higher, but that's what happens when you're not fully prepared!

Ostuni, 230 meters high and built on several hills, impresses with a picturesque old town.

It is located in the province of Brindisi, just 8 km from the Adriatic coast. In addition to wine, you can also find the oldest olive trees in Apulia around Ostuni. We visited this small town on a gloomy rainy day.
