* It was cold and showery when we went to Loch Ness but from time to time the sun did make an appearance . It looks the best part of the day to drive round the Loch with stops for walks. Its a very long narrow Loch and the road on the southern side is single track so progress is slow . And before anyone asks we did not see the the monster frankly its as likely at Trump telling the truth
Loch Ness is a large freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands extending for approximately 23 miles southwest of Inverness. It takes its name from the River Ness, which flows from the northern end..At 22 sq mi, Loch Ness is the second-largest Scottish loch by surface area after Loch Lomond, but due to its great depth it is the largest by volume in Great Britain. Its deepest point is 755 feet, making it the second deepest loch in Scotland after Loch Morar. It contains more water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined,

Over an extended weekend we did a 2000 miles roadtrip from California to Utah and back, destination badlands near Hanksville. Highway 24 runs close to the Fremont River. Life needs water, in the badlands trees can grow only nearby the river. Mountains are eroded over thousands of years, showing their bare beauty.

I took 3000 shots at today's rather cloudy Duxford Air Show so you can expect to see one or two of those appearing over the weeks to come. You have been warned!
Due to my health condition, I am unable to hold or stabilize a camera for extended periods of time. Additionally, using a tripod has never been enjoyable for me, as it would cause pain when trying to position it correctly and constantly bending over to check the viewfinder. Consequently, I have chosen to explore digital AI artwork as an alternative. I understand that this may not be everyone's cup of tea, as it diverges from traditional photography. However, I have always granted myself the freedom to exercise artistic license and pursue whatever brings me joy. Currently, digital AI artwork fulfills that purpose, at least for the time being.

la tierra verde se ha entregado
a todo lo amarillo, oro, cosechas,
terrones, hojas, grano,
pero cuando el otoño se levanta
con su estandarte extenso
eres tú la que veo,
es para mí tu cabellera
la que reparte las espigas.
Veo los monumentos
de antigua piedra rota,
pero si toco
la cicatriz de piedra
tu cuerpo me responde,
mis dedos reconocen
de pronto, estremecidos,
tu caliente dulzura.
Entre los héroes paso
recién condecorados
por la tierra y la pólvora
y detrás de ellos, muda,
con tus pequeños pasos,
eres o no eres?
ayer, cuando sacaron
de raíz, para verlo,
el viejo árbol enano,
te vi salir mirándome
desde las torturadas
y sedientas raíces.
Y cuando viene el sueño
a extenderme y llevarme
a mi propio silencio
hay un gran viento blanco
que derriba mi sueño
y caen de él las hojas,
caen como cuchillos
sobre mí desangrándome.
Y cada herida tiene
la forma de tu boca.

TUGBOATS, SEA IMP X towing SEA IMP III
I noticed the operators and deck hands preparing these two tugs to leave the dock. When they finally pulled away Sea IMP III connected to the back of SEA IM X.
My guess might be, they were saving fuel while traveling to their evening work destination,
Both tugs, if you look close, are connected by a tow line, and about to head down the Fraser River.
Mission Train Bridge
Mission
British Columbia, Canada
The Mission Railway Bridge is a Canadian Pacific Railway bridge spanning the Fraser River between Mission, and Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.
Replacing an earlier bridge built in 1891, which was the first and only bridge crossing of the Fraser below Siska in the Fraser Canyon until the construction of the New Westminster rail bridge in 1904, it was constructed in 1909 by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR). The Mission Railway Bridge is supported by 13 concrete piers and is approximately 533 metres in length. Before completion of the Mission highway bridge, highway traffic to and from Matsqui and Abbotsford with Mission used the bridge as a one-way alternating route, with traffic lights at either end to control direction. Rail traffic often held up car crossings, causing long and often very lengthy waits, which were a part of daily life in the Central Valley until the new bridge was completed.
Beneath the bridge's north abutment is an important river-level gauge monitored during the annual Fraser freshet. The bridge is also the location of the end of the Fraser's tidal bore - downstream from the bridge the river is increasingly influenced by tidal influences from the Georgia Strait.
Swing span
The Mission Railway Bridge has a swing span which has a vertical clearance of 4.9 metres above the water when closed. The swing span is fitted atop a circular concrete pier, the 10th from the north bank of the river. The 10th pier is protected from shipping traffic by two 46 metre wood piers extending upstream and downstream respectively perpendicular to the bridge which are tapered at both ends. The navigation channel past the bridge is 30 metres in width. At night a fixed white light is displayed on piers 9 and 11 as well as at the up-river and down-river ends of the protection pier.
The majority of marine traffic consists of log tows and gravel barges, which are permitted to use the navigation channel beneath the fixed span between piers 5 and 6. The swing span is used for wood chip barges and other vessels which cannot navigate beneath the span between piers 5 and 6.
CPR maintains a bridge tender 24 hours per day at an office on the north bank of the bridge. Vessels requesting passage through the swing span contact the bridge tender on marine VHF radio, whereby the tender walks the bridge to a control booth situated on the swing span.

The vervain hummingbird is perhaps the second-smallest bird in the world after the smallest, the bee hummingbird, though some other tiny ones are close to it in size. It is about 6 cm (2.4 in) long, including the 1 cm (0.39 in) bill, and weighs about 2 to 2.4 g (0.071 to 0.085 oz).

El topónimo Cuenca deriva del árabe قونكة (Qūnkatu). En origen aplicado solo a la alcazaba, situada donde hoy se levantan los restos del castillo, y posteriormente extendido al conjunto de la ciudad.
During New Zealand's lockdown (which was today extended to the night of the 27th - a sensible move), a strict interpretation of the rules suggests we are allowed to leave our house for supermarket visits and for local exercise.
Fortunately, I can see trains leaving Pukeuri and shuffle about in the yard from the house and also listen to them on a scanner. So if the sun isn't in quarantine, it's fairly easy to time a 10 minute walk down the hill to see them departing without any obvious loitering.
It also seems foolish during these difficult times not to pass up the opportunity to get a few shots with the flying camera that might be less doable if there were more people around...

Great Blue Heron.
Between 39 to 52 inches long with a wingspan of nearly 6 feet. A common large mainly grayish heron with a pale or yellowish colored bill. It is often mistaken for a Sandhill Crane but flies with its neck folded and not extended like the Sandhill Crane. In southern Florida an all-white form, the "Great White Heron", differs from the Great Egret in that they are larger with greenish-yellow legs rather than the black legs of the Great Blue Heron.
Their habitat includes lakes, ponds, rivers and marshes.
They range from Alaska east to Nova Scotia and south to Mexico in the west and the West Indies in the east. They winter as far notrh as southern Alaska, the central United States and southern New England.

This was a treat! The 9 red Hawks of the RAF's display team, in formation with historic Spitfire Mk IX MH434.
You can see the jets have their speed brakes extended underneath to help with this relatively low-speed fly past. In addition, the turbulence from the speed-brakes apparently improves the quality of the smoke stream.

The grey wagtail (Motacilla cinerea) or grey wagtail is a species of songbird from the wagtail and pipit family (Motacillidae). The very long-tailed wagtail, grey on the upper side and intensely yellow underneath, inhabits fast-flowing, mostly wooded waters and feeds mainly on insects and their larvae. It often breeds at weirs, bridges or mills. The range extends from the islands of the eastern Atlantic and the Atlas Mountains in North Africa across large parts of Eurasia, where the species is largely absent in northern Europe, the European part of Russia and large parts of Central Asia. Most wagtails in Atlantic-influenced Europe and the subtropical regions are resident birds, while more northern breeding populations and most Asian birds spend the winter in the subtropical and tropical regions of Europe, Africa and Asia. Since around 1850, the species has spread from the central European low mountain ranges to the northern German lowlands and Poland, from where it has also opened up new breeding areas in the Netherlands, northern Europe and the Baltic states. In the middle of the 20th century, populations there declined sharply, but appear to have recovered since then. The species is "not endangered" according to the IUCN

Two very brave (or very foolish) volunteers each hold upright a 20 ft/ 6m high pole, connected by a string of flags. The pilot attempts to fly between the poles and under the flags. What could possibly go wrong?! Part of the Shuttleworth Collection's Family Air Day festivities at Old Warden. The 'volunteers' are members of staff, who, we were assured, are 'expendable'.
The Parnall Elf, is a touring plane dating from the 1930, when it cost around £900 - about £75,000 today. One of its selling points was that the wings can be folded back for easy storage, eg in a car garage. Despite the obvious mass-market appeal, to anyone with £75k going spare and an empty garage, only 3 were sold.

Looking out the back door I saw the moon rising and then noticed that it was coming "up" into the flight path of airliners on final approach to DIA. So I set up my shot and I waited and waited and waited...
Yeah this went on for a bit. Finally I got one that was close.
Keep an eye on the moon and sky this month as there is a lot of cool things happening! Most of the planets are in wonderful alignment and are basically on parade as they are in conjunction with each other and the moon.
Later this year there will be a combination of Jupiter over a crescent moon and Venus underneath. That should be spectacular!

The building of the restaurant "Maison des Tanneurs" (Gerwerstubb) in Strasbourg, with its gallery facade facing the Ill River, forms one of the most picturesque sights in the "Petit France" district.
The building itself bears the date 1572 on one window, but was extended and renovated many times in the following centuries. The side facing the Ill River was originally open and formed a two-story open gallery for drying the hides processed here.
