Divorce is messy. The pearls symbolise tears (an old wedding superstition), typical wedding memorabilia, damaged, bloodied, dirty. A bloody heart.

2003 - ongoing, 72" x 70", 800 names

The names of American and Allied soldiers and Iraqi civilians who have died in the war are hand stitched on coffin shaped fragments of red clothing and appliquéd onto a blue blanket to spell the word REPENT.

Made by members of faith and social justice communities at churches, in homes, art galleries, schools and sites of protest. The banner serves as a civic vehicle for communal mourning. Each stitch is made as an act of prayer and petition for personal and social change.

At the Expressive Arts Center we created a New Moon Collage Vision Board. With this New Moon in Cancer- sign of the Mother we tapped into the power of home-and-family loving Cancer and we collaged our intentions for nurturing and stability onto our Vision Boards.

The pearls symbolise tears, from an old wedding superstition, the wilting lily symbolises death and the tattered, damaged shoes, symbolise being worn down, the discarded ring symbolises the discarded marriage. The closed door symbolises closure, no return.

Words tell stories and paintings do too. Six words tell the story of how clients of our Neuro Rehabilitation Services - Residential program began painting and where they are headed on this amazing journey.

Spectrum Health’s Expressive Arts program started with positive encouragement and a lot of praise with the freedom to allow individuals to just be themselves and paint. When the artists paint together, the art studio is filled with positive affirmation and praises of encouragement. They have the freedom to make their own decisions, come up with their own ideas, and use their imagination to create and find that empowering life force within. This helps to enhance their joy so they can flourish.

Through the creative process the artists learn that laughter, combined with a lot of love, is a powerful healing life force that enables them to be renewed and grow to their full potential. So check out this amazing online exhibit and find your life force too.

The exhibit paintings are available for purchase. Proceeds go to the artists and the Expressive Arts Program for art supplies. Pieces are 16 x 20 or 18 x 24 and sell for $60 each. Select pieces are 24 x 36 in size, are framed and sell for $100 each and are noted in the description. 2016 Calendars available for $7 each. To make purchases please call 616.486.7056

After photographing the original artwork and, by accident, reversing the image, the depth of perception and interpretation became almost too intense for description.

This intuitively painted piece represents the balance, energy exchange and individual yet universal nature of the moment . . . God's phenomenal gifts of love, conception and life spinning in the galaxy, emitting sparks of his being and hope for all mankind and peace on earth.

Hoping to visually and verbally share a part of myself with others in a small effort for universal love. Art by A. Ledzian, published in Art and Healing by Barbara Ganim, Random House, 1999.

Remains of wedding and marriage. Rotting grass symbolising the decay of naivety (from the phrase "as green as grass"), a bloody heart, a wilted lily to symbolise death and pearls to symbolise tears - an old wedding superstition.

This captivating image features a street performer in Tokyo, Japan, embodying a character reminiscent of a Victorian gentleman. Dressed in a weathered coat and top hat, he holds a magnifying glass aloft, inviting curiosity and engagement from passersby. The stark white background contrasts with his earthy tones, enhancing the visual impact and drawing attention to his expressive pose. The composition effectively captures the essence of street art, blending performance and artistry in a bustling urban environment.

This is an earlier version of my nephews doodles. He was very young when he drew this. Always with a good sense of humor. Today, he is a university graduate and working in IT.

I think that finds like this are far more sensual than any cheesy pose done deliberately! Added bonus they won't get me fired from my conservative job!

This journal entry is just a foundation. I plan to add layers and LOVE to it soon. I created this journal entry for the Art Journal LOVE Letters workshop.
