Val Notre-Dame Cistercian Abbey
is rooted in the evangelical tradition expressed in the Rule of St. Benedict and in the particular form given to it by the founders of Cîteaux in the 11th century.
Monastic life here is wholly ordered to contemplation. This is why the monks, between the walls of the monastery, devote themselves to divine worship, ensuring humble and noble service to the Divine Majesty in solitude and silence, constant prayer and joyful penance. Governed by the Rule of St. Benedict and led by an Abbot, the monks walk behind Christ as a community, celebrating the Liturgy of the Hours each day, devoting time to manual work and the Lectio Divina.
Since their foundation in 1098, Cistercian monks have lived exclusively from the work of their own hands. This is how they developed a wide range of excellent food products.

My family went to the Vermont Lake Monsters game last night. Champ seemed to love us quite a bit!
When Elliot saw Champ near the end of the game he scrunched up his face and Erik made a funny face too. Together their expressions make a great picture of the two of them...
Bronze image of Lord Hanuman standing on a rectangular plinth, he wears an unusual robe, his hands are missing with tribal punch marks in place, he is wearing fish earrings.
In Buddhism, the golden fishes symbolize happiness, as they have complete freedom in water. They represent fertility and abundance as they multiply very rapidly. Fish often swim in pairs, and in China they represented conjugal unity and fidelity, where a pair of fishes would often be given as a wedding present.

I've missed using borders so I thought i'd use one for this. I think it helps bring out the colours more.
Yet again, another old shot from Darley Park. It's not very often when Laz lets go when i'm taking photos of her, so I cherish them when she does.

In general, the lighting conditions were very poor when I took these photographs so the colours are rather dull.
On the 15 of June 2016 it rained most of the day in Belfast. After having a very good meal at Zen I decided to ignore the weather and the dark and just wander around photographing any street art or graffiti and any derelict sites that I came across.
When I first visited Belfast a few years ago in order to photograph the city my initial impression was that the city was more attractive and better maintained than Dublin but after a few visits I began to realise that this was a very false impression. There is actually a huge amount of what could be describe as extreme urban depression throughout the city.
