2021 is the European year of rail. For this reason, a special train is driving through the whole continent, advertising the railways.
The Connecting Europe Express (CEE) with its onboard exhibiton is representing the modern way of traveling with railways.

The special train - which in West Hungary was hauled by GySEV Cargo - was driving through my surroundings today.
After having a show in Sopron, the train continued its journey southwards, here next to Kópháza.

Have you catch it? I was resisting the temptation to join the train this season, no pun intended :) Work hours and feeling a bit lazy lately didn’t help either. After spending 4h in the cold last night I was happy I didn’t come back home empty handed but I kept thinking why do I do this to myself! Final frame is the blend of the few different exposures for dynamic range and clean noise free image. What do you think?

The daylily is an amazingly low-maintenance perennial. It’s virtually disease-free, pest-free, and drought-resistant; it’s also not picky about soil quality. Plus, the flower has a long bloom period! Here’s how to plant and care for daylilies in your garden, as well as how to easily propagate them for more plants!
About Daylilies
The daylily’s botanical name, Hemerocallis, comes from the Greek hemera (“day”) and kallos (“beauty”). The name is appropriate since each flower lasts only one day! However, each scape has 12 to 15 buds on it, and a mature plant can have 4 to 6 scapes, which is why the flower seems to bloom continuously.
Originally from Asia, these plants have adapted so well that many of us think of them as natives. Imagine the excitement of a 16th-century explorer cruising the Orient and finding these gorgeous plants! European gardeners welcomed daylilies into their gardens, and when early colonists sailed for the New World, daylilies made the crossing with them.
Despite their name, daylilies are not “true lilies” and grow from fleshy roots. True lilies grow from onion-like bulbs and are of the genus Lilium, as are Asiatic and Oriental lilies. In the case of daylilies, leaves grow from a crown, and the flowers form on leafless stems—called “scapes”—which rise above the foliage.
There are thousands of beautiful daylilies to choose from. Combine early, midseason, late blooming varieties, and repeat bloomers to have daylilies in flower from late spring through the first frost of fall. If you see a height listed alongside a daylily variety, this refers to the length of the scape. Some can reach 6 feet tall!

These Daylilies were photographed at Pashley Manor Gardens. Durch einen sumpfigen Abschnitt des Osnabrücker Landes führt 78 468 ihren hübschen Museumszug, allerdings in eher gemäßigtem "Express"-Tempo. In dieser dünn besiedelten Landschaft wirkt die ehemals preußísche T18 wie aus der Zeit gefallen.
The TranzAlpine is a lovely train with big picture windows and comfortable seats, while outside the scenery is sublime.
New-paint Amtrak 75, running about 20 minutes late, leads train #1105, the westbound Winter Park Express, through Arvada, Colorado, at 07:45, December 20, 2024. This is the first seasonal run of the popular ski train, which started earlier this year and will soon have more than the five cars shown here. The train carries skiers from Denver to the Winter Park Resort, about a two-hour journey.

La voiture Corail française qui était également présente dans le convoi pendant sa tournée était à ce moment restée en région parisienne.

Bernina Express in the Swiss Alps.
Crossing the Alps in the Bernina Express certainly is one of the most spectacular ways to do it. Along the way, the Bernina Express rolls over the 65-metre-high Landwasser Viaduct, the signature structure of the Rhaetian Railway and the UNESCO World Heritage site.
Altogether the train passes through 55 tunnels and over 196 bridges on its way from Chur to Tirano. Travellers are treated to marvellous sights during their journey, like the Montebello curve with a view of the Bernina massif, the Morteratsch glacier, the three lakes Lej Pitschen, Lej Nair and Lago Bianco, the Alp Grüm and the Brusio Circular Viaduct.

El cielo lucía encapotado, ofreciendo, mayormente, un aspecto insulso; mas hete aquí que hubo un momento en que despejose un tanto, permitiéndonos ver las estrellas y ofreciendo, todo él, un aspecto con ricas y curiosas gradaciones y matices, tal y como ese misterioso resplandor verdoso, asemejando una portentosa aurora boreal en mitad de los campos manchegos, era; o quizás tratárase de fuegos fatuos procedentes de algún presumido y coqueto espíritu que, en el suyo atormentado vagar por el terrenal mundo, y en un arrebato de coquetería sin parangón en el mundo del más allá, pretendiese captar nuestra atención y ansiara un retrato...👻 En todo caso, sea lo que fuere, ahí quedó plasmado para la posteridad 😉

On my last night photographic outing through the wild and rustic countryside of La Mancha in the company of my two friends and fellow photographers Antonio and Isidro, we found "The Incredible Stone Roller Tree".
The sky was mainly overcast, offering a dull look, but there was a moment when it cleared a little, letting us see some stars, offering then a look with some rich and intriguing gradations and shades, like that mysterious green glow resembling a kind of amazing northern lights in the middle of the fields of La Mancha, or perhaps it may be the will-o'-the-wisp of a presumptuous and flirtatious ghost that, in his tormented wanderings through the earthly world and iin an outburnst of narcissism without parallel in the far beyond, tried to capture our attention yearning for a portrait ... 👻 In any case, whatever it was, here it is photographed for posterity 😉

This is a re-edit of an image I took back in 2016. These two ladies were on the rooftop park in downtown KC. I was shooting around them minding my own business when they approached and asked for their picture to be taken. From that point on, I knew I had free range to snap away as I walked the perimeter of this little hidden gem of a park.

In August 2000, my wife and I made a trip across Canada on the American Orient Express (AOE) from Vancouver, British Columbia, to Montreal, Quebec. The train traveled mostly over CN rails, stopping at various locations for sightseeing or servicing. Two CN motors and an Amtrak F40 were our power for this part of the journey. In this scene, the train is stopped for servicing and some leg-stretching at Capreol, Ontario, on August 17, 2000. Our assigned AOE sleeping car was the BERLIN, which now rolls as a private car for Patrick Henry Creative Promotions of Houston, Texas, becoming the third car operating under that banner.

The Impf-Express ("Vaccination Express") circulating as a regular Strassenbahn line in front of the Südbahnhof while I was waiting for my bus to the office. I loved the driver's smile, too bad the windshield's glare hides it.
The idea of the Impf Express is that you can hop in, get your corona shot and get of a couple of stations later. I find the idea of wanting to get an injection in a moving vehicle rattling along the tracks kind of odd. Maybe their doctors are that good. Or they just wait for the stops.

Northern Rail Class 158 Express Sprinter 158796 departs Sheffield station working 1N11 11.52 Sheffield to Leeds service. This express service, which only calls at Wakefield Westgate, covers the 39 miles between the cities in 46 minutes whilst the stopping services take between 76 and 82 minutes.
