The Jellyfish Nebula - also known as IC 443 and Sh2-248 - is a supernova remnant located 5,000 lightyears away
Drifting near the bright star Eta Geminorum, at the foot of a celestial twin, the Jellyfish Nebula is seen dangling tentacles from its bright arcing ridge of emission. In fact, the cosmic jellyfish is part of bubble-shaped supernova remnant IC 443, the expanding debris cloud from a massive star that exploded. Light from the explosion first reached planet Earth over 30,000 years ago. Like its cousin in astrophysical waters the Crab Nebula supernova remnant, IC 443 is known to harbor a neutron star, the remnant of the collapsed stellar core.
For the lovers of technical details: the picture has been obtained by stacking 48x300 secs. (4 hrs. total) shots of a ZWO ASI 533 MC Pro camera through a William Optics Zenithstar 61 apochromatic refractor scope with a WO Flat 61 field flattener.
The mount is a SkyWatcher Star Adventurer GTI tracker, guided by a Svbony SV 165 30mm. guide scope with a ZWO ASI 715MC camera. The whole setup is controlled by a ZWO Asiair mini dedicated computer.
To enhance the faint nebula details, I've used a dual narrowband (Ha + OIII) Svbony SV220 filter.
Final processing with GraXpert, Siril and Photoshop.

Last week it was beautiful summer weather in the Netherlands so we made a nice trip of 44 kilometers on the bike, this time to the city of Amersfoort.
Amersfoort is a municipality and the second largest city of the province of Utrecht in central Netherlands.
The Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren (English: 'The Tower of Our Lady') is a church tower in Amersfoort. The Late Gothic building is 98.33 metres (322 ft 7 in) tall and reaches high above the inner city. It is one of the most eye-catching monuments in town and the third highest church tower in the Netherlands. The nickname of the tower is Lange Jan (English: 'Long John'). The church that belonged to the tower was destroyed by a gunpowder explosion in the 18th century.
Construction of the tower started around 1444 and was finished around 1470.

Hi everyone, time to show more of the 2016 Sydney's Vivid light festival.
The theme this year was our indigenous people.
The Sails are illuminated with the work of six Indigenous artists, celebrating the celestial Songlines of Australian Aboriginal astronomy.
I loved this year's display, seeing the Opera house covered in aboriginal art was something very special.

With what little remains in tow, a brown bear races off towards a salmon splashing in the stream creating an explosion of chilly water. While they spend much of their time sleeping or lumbering along, eating grasses, fruits, and shellfish, these big girls and boys can move with velocity and ferocity when it’s in their best interests, making mornings during the salmon run quite exciting. #brownbears

Elgol is so beautiful that you would feel like spending all of your time there. I heard there is never a dull moment here and there is always something happening weather wise in the Cuillin Ranges that there is no short of spectacular here..
The prominent mountain is the Sgurr a Ghreadaidh the highest in the Cuillins and renders a beautiful front for the sun to set behind and display some of its wonderful colours.
When I got here it was as if someone set off an explosion from beyond the mountains and the clouds were carrying the smoke from it..was quite an eventful dusk...
My Mac is not well at the moment and so I am digging through the archives to find something so that I can upload something from time to time.
