A crater is all that remains of the hugh explosion which occured in the village of Fauld back in November 1944. 3,500 tons of high explosives accidentally blew up whilst in storage deep below the earth in gypsum mines being used by the RAF for munitions storage. Public admittance is now forbidden and a healthy wildlife reserve now occupies the crater.

Back in 1998 they were filming a car explosion for Nash Bridges across the street from my office. We waited for about two hours with fingers in shutters to get these shots. And that was back when people actually used film in their cameras. :-)

After explosions at a military depot in Svatove in Luhansk region, Ukraine, October 30, 2015. At least two people were killed and five injured due to explosions at a local depot with more than 3,000 tons of munition, according to local media. About 5,000 locals had to leave the affected area where 476 high-rise apartment buildings and private residences are located, according to the State Emergency Service.
