There was an explosion in Tungelsta this afternoon. At least three people have been taken to hospital according to the owner of the company that I talked to. One of them was flown to Uppsala with serious burns. Fourteen fire trucks were at the scene along with many police cars, ambulances and one ambulance helicopter. 100 homes will be evacuated.

Supermaan?
Zaterdag 19 maart was het volle maan; de maan stond het dichtst bij de aarde sinds 18 jaar: supermaan. Astrologen reageren er paniekerig op: het zou een voorbode voor extreem weer kunnen zijn. De supermaan zal vanavond tegen 19.00 uur nog wel een keer te zien zijn, al is het dan niet helemaal volle maan meer en is de afstand tussen beide hemellichamen alweer iets groter. De gemiddelde afstand tussen aarde en maan is 392.900 kilometer. De afstand varieert van 363.300 kilometer (dichtbijgelegen punt) tot 405.500 kilometer (verste punt).
In deze fase van zijn baan staat de maan in het zogenaamde perigeum van haar baan: het punt op de baan dat het dichtst bij de aarde ligt. De afstand tussen aarde en maan was gisteren 356.577 kilometer. Normaal gesproken is dat iets meer dan 364.000 kilometer van de aarde verwijderd. Dat lijkt niet veel verschil, maar betekent wel dat de maan ongeveer 14 procent groter lijkt dan normaal. Daardoor lijkt de maan ook een stuk helderder dan anders. Rond 19.00 uur leek de maan nog veel groter, omdat hij makkelijk te vergelijken was met gebouwen en bomen.
Astrologen zien een supermaan als voorbode van extreme weersomstandigheden en zelfs apocalyptische toestanden, maar volgens wetenschappers zijn dat spookverhalen: ‘De aarde zal een lager ebgetijde hebben en een hogere vloed dan gewoonlijk. Niets om je zorgen over te maken.’ Toch vielen bij zo’n superramp meerdere rampen, zoals orkaan Katrina in 2005 en de cycloon Tracy in 1974. ‘Er zou een verband kunnen zijn tussen zware aardbevingen rond de evenaar en nieuwe of volle manen. Dat komt omdat de getijden van de aarde wel eens aardbevingen in gang zouden kunnen brengen’, aldus een aantal wetenschappers.

Playing with some software called Pixelmator for Mac, seems to me like a cut down version of Photoshop and lends itself well to creating backgrounds and such for use in webdesign, worth a look - this was done in under 5 mins using the custom brushes and filters available.
All material consignments to the shaft ceased in 1977 following an explosion in the head-space above he shaft waste column.
