La conocida como "Carrasca de la Vaca", con probablemente ya un milenio de vida, es la mayor de las tres encinas centenarias localizadas en los aledaños de La Molata (Alcadozo, Albacete), en mitad de los campos manchegos. Las otras dos, se conocen con los nombres de "Carrasca del camino" y "Carrasca de en medio"
Decidí presentarla en blanco y negro para enfatizar el potente símil visual que representaba con una explosión, aunque, en este caso, afortunadamente, sea vegetal ;-)
Mi agradecimiento a mi paisano Antonio Jiménez por facilitarme los nombres por los que se conoce a cada una de las encinas.

This millennial holm oak tree is known as "the cow's holm oak" and it's the largest of the three centennial holm oaks located in the outskirts of La Molata (Alcadozo, Albacete, Spain) in the middle of La Mancha fields. The two remaining holm oak trees are known as "In the middle holm oak" and "Holm oak of the Road".
I decided to process it in black and white to enhance the powerful visual simile that it makes compared to an explosion, although luckily, in this case, it was just a vegetal one ;-)
I should like to thank my countrymate Mr. Antonio Jiménez for letting me know the name that each one of the trees is known by.

It's just a leaf, with filaments going out in all directions. About 40cm length. To emphasize the pattern I converted it to extreme black and white.

U ovoj fotografiji bilježim trenutak kada se sunce skriva iza oblaka, ali mu se zrake ipak uspijevaju probiti kroz siluetu. Takvi prizori često djeluju kao tiha eksplozija svjetla – moćni, dinamični i puni simbolike.
Ova igra svjetla i tame podsjeća nas koliko priroda može biti dramatična i istovremeno jednostavna u svojoj ljepoti.

Un’immagine carica di energia, che ci ricorda quanto la natura possa essere semplice e drammatica allo stesso tempo.
A volte basta solo alzare lo sguardo.
We are all crazy people who marvel that we live in a gravitational well called Earth, shrouded into a barely breathable atmosphere and encircling a gravitational nuclear explosion.

Urban landscape shot from East Kilbride, Scotland.
I live nearby and in May 2021 there was a very loud 'boom' and my windows and doors rattled violently. Archie the cat was very distressed and it wasn't immediately apparent what had happened.
There had been a gas explosion in this flat in the village centre. The roof had caved in, the walls were bulging and the windows had been blown out to where I am standing in this shot. It was a massive blast but, thankfully, there were only minor injuries for the owner of the flat. The rest of the block had escaped unharmed.
Now, almost a year later, work is about to start to rebuild and restore the flats to their former state. Having been empty all of this time, and still filled with people's belongings, I imagine there will be some damp clean-up required in all of the homes too.
I took this shot as I wandered around East Kilbride making some 'memory' photographs before I move home next month.
My heating engineer 'gas man' said that gas explosions were very rare and the following week I read about several happening in the UK. Be sure to get your heating systems checked at least once a year by a properly accredited engineer. Take care my Flickr friends.
The Valerian plant has a beautiful cluster of tiny flowers staged like a ball. I love this flower. Doesn't look like fireworks? :-)

There are few places you'd go to not really expecting to see something spectacular because the weather isn't that great to begin with...
On the other hand, there are times when the weather is too good and you'd pray for a little clouds as without them there are no colours...
When I was in Elgol, the weather was simply too good that I never really expected to see an explosion of colours that the air almost turned golden around me which was a classic view.
I enjoyed sitting by the beach watching the storm that was brewing way into the horizon over the Cuillin ranges...
