Here is another Vertorama of that amazing pre-sunrise sky that we had in the Little Karoo last Sunday morning.

Although I really liked the composition of the photo that I posted on Monday (with that little cottage in the upper right-hand corner)… I was also acutely aware that I’d only managed to include a small fraction of the gorgeous pinkness that filled the sky at that moment.

So… as soon as I’d captured the two images for my preferred composition… I swung the camera around on the tripod… and shot this.

Nikon D3100, Sigma 10-20mm at 20mm, aperture of f11, with a 3 second exposure.

It's just a leaf, with filaments going out in all directions. About 40cm length. To emphasize the pattern I converted it to extreme black and white.

On a road trip through New England during peak Fall color and a tree explodes with color as light shines downs though its canopy. The leaves start turning colors in the northern regions of Maine and New Hampshire typically around mid-to-late September and peaking around mid-October.

📍 Sunce iza oblaka

🇬🇧 ENGLISH:

📍 Sun Behind the Clouds

This photo captures the moment when the sun hides behind a cloud, yet its rays still burst through like a silent explosion of light.

Scenes like this feel powerful and full of energy, reminding us of the dramatic simplicity of nature.

Sometimes, all it takes is to look up.

This week's assignment is a macro of something ordinary. This is my son's hair gel which he uses everyday. HMM!

Urban landscape shot from East Kilbride, Scotland.

I live nearby and in May 2021 there was a very loud 'boom' and my windows and doors rattled violently. Archie the cat was very distressed and it wasn't immediately apparent what had happened.

There had been a gas explosion in this flat in the village centre. The roof had caved in, the walls were bulging and the windows had been blown out to where I am standing in this shot. It was a massive blast but, thankfully, there were only minor injuries for the owner of the flat. The rest of the block had escaped unharmed.

Now, almost a year later, work is about to start to rebuild and restore the flats to their former state. Having been empty all of this time, and still filled with people's belongings, I imagine there will be some damp clean-up required in all of the homes too.

I took this shot as I wandered around East Kilbride making some 'memory' photographs before I move home next month.

My heating engineer 'gas man' said that gas explosions were very rare and the following week I read about several happening in the UK. Be sure to get your heating systems checked at least once a year by a properly accredited engineer. Take care my Flickr friends.

Sometime the camera is pushed to its limits.

After the photo was taken, I had spaghetti for dinner :))

No te la pierdas en grande.
