Las mariquitas, vaquitas de San Antonio o catarinas (Coccinellidae) son una familia de insectos coleópteros de la superfamilia Cucujoidea. Tienen el cuerpo redondeado y con frecuencia coloraciones brillantes, la coloración presenta alta variabilidad intraespecífica, controlada por cambios en un solo gen. Muchas especies se alimentan de pulgones, por lo que contribuyen a controlar estas plagas.

Mr Darcy explores his home away from home, a place he gets to visit several times a year after that terrible 8 hour car ride from the North Dakota home to his vacation place in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
It was a blazing hot, sunny day at Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, and a small group of Mule Deer found this small shady spot in the grassland.
Most deer will stop their activity, and stare at a perceived potential danger. (Like the expression: "frozen in the car's headlights..."). After assessing the danger, they will either flee, or return to their activity. This deer did neither.
I was in my stationary car, using it as a blind. All of the other deer returned to grazing, or settled down to a seated position, but this muscular deer maintained a position of seeming defiance. I left the site, and I assume he returned to grazing.

This is the full arc of the Milky Way from horizon to horizon, as shot with a fisheye lens -- my cheap and trustworthy Rokinon f/3.5 8mm. The southern horizon is at the bottom of the screen. I have been chasing clear and dark night skies all summer long, and finally found what I was looking for at this semi-secret spot with a wonderful southern exposure somewhere near Eagle Rock in Botetourt County, Va. Bellissima mostra fotografica in questa piazza di Otranto, immagini in B&w, quelle belle di un tempo, con la grana,,,,
scattate con la pellicola.
La luce vera si cerca, e non la si crea con artifici, questa è la differenza nel fare fotografia.
E' inutile comprare macchine fotografiche costosissime se poi non c'è occhio per vedere i "dettagli".

Tutti pensano che basta comprare una bella macchina fotografica, con tanti megapixel per fare delle belle foto, ma non è cosi....., tutto questo spesso non basta.
Occorre trovare la luce giusta...
Siamo talmente sopraffatti da cattive elaborazioni "su Flickr, che non riusciamo più a distinguere la realtà delle cose.
Vi ringrazio per le richieste di "contatto" che arrivano continuamente, ma non posso aggiungerne molte,
non ho molto tempo da dedicare a Flickr, e non la ritengo una tappa fondamentale della mia vita.
