Sometimes persistence pays off.
Waiting for a sunset at Dog Rocks, Batesford, near Geelong, when I was rewarded with a wonderful display by Mother Nature.
An inspirational and typically British piece of street art that was located opposite the National Gallery just down from Leicester Square in the summer by artist Nathan Bowen.
Winter Sunset at 13th Beach, Barwon Heads, there's something magical about watching Mother Nature create colourful beauty on the landscape
Tatana is one of the Amur tiger cubs at Colchester Zoo and it has been amazing to watch her and her 2 brothers grow. As always they are intensely inquisitive and always willing to strike a pose for the camera!
Those churches just keep on popping on every corner of the #island :)

the force of the waves crashing against the rocks was amazing, I could have watched it for ages, the noise was deafening, however the repeated motion of the waves was calming, almost mesmerising, you have to love the Surf Coast of Victoria, Australia

My first attempt at macro flower photography! Needless to say I have somewhat tried to avoid flowers as they are very much the norm and I like to do things a little differently. However fair play to those that do....getting the focus isn't easy!

Hoping to get a nice sunset at the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse - wasn't to be, but I was happy with the moody clouds framing the lighthouse and little bits of dappled light just kissing the foliage. Sometimes what your hoping to get doesn't happen, then sometimes better things come along.
Hoping you have great day Melbourne, Cheers Rob 😀

I love going back to Mono Lake. The high setting almost always draws wonderful colors from the sky. The lake has a green color from the algae that just adds to the unusual atmosphere of the lake.

A silhouetted scene sets off a stunning sunset born in the sky and reflected in water. Soft light enhances the shape of clouds and sea. Hot and cool colors provide quiet energy. Spatial relationships are clear amid details of nature and man-made objects.

I had the opportunity to get away for a couple of days and explore areas that I had never taken images of before. This location is now easily one of my favourites. There wasn't much detail in the sky but it didn’t matter because nothing could have taken my focus off the textures of these amazing rock formations.
Having played around with some oil on water my next venture was washing up liquid....how would this look under a macro lens? Needless to say it is interesting, and trying to capture the bigger air bubbles after shaking the bottle is not so easy....you have to be quick!
Just tinkering around with the double exposure setting on my camera whilst out for my lockdown walk.
Twist and Turn
The photograph evokes drama as it celebrates light and line and shape and pattern - even a bit of motion. Light gifted the choice of framing. I left out color and spatial relationships to help hold it in the abstract form.

After plenty of darting around Luka showing signs of slowing down....after all life as a Leopard Cub is tiring work!
A giant circle of sorts rises in concentric patterns into a dramatic sky. The bold design makes an immediate impact with its lines and curves and repetition. Strong structure and nature contrast nicely and provide a feeling of depth a good counterbalance within the frame. Light dazzles as it dances and adds flare and a bit more color. It's an abstract without grounded spatial relationship to where and how it stands. It delights in mystery.

There is something addictive to me about nature and being out in absolute silence. I struggle deeply with noise and chaos. I feel every noise and every word reverberate through my brain. I don't come equipped with a "tune it out" gauge or maybe mine's just broken. Instead my brain just feels scrambled. it's hard for me to write or even speak coherently when I'm surrounded by noise. That is why when I found photography it became an excuse, a reason to give myself a break. Being a mom can be tough because obviously a lot of that noise comes from the children (whom I love deeply might I add) that surround me. Before I invested my soul into photography I would feel guilty if I "longed for" or needed a "break". I would question myself and feel like I was an awful Mom for needing to get away... Photography is the way that I find peace and relax my mind. Standing out in this stretch of road, the fog hanging over the trees and the absolute silence - I feel an absolute surge of euphoria. My mind is free too wander, uninterrupted. This was last night. It was cold as heck, I could see my breath easily and after awhile the cold drizzle actually turned to huge drops of slushy snow. I was cold. It didn't even matter. I had silence all to myself, the quiet to breathe in and just close my eyes (don't worry I wasn't applying these relaxing techniques in the middle of the road!) Of course just like our ability to appreciate light and joy stems from our familiarity with darkness and sorrow, the appreciation of silence is there because of the noise. There is nothing wrong with the right noise either... Someday I will miss the noise of little voices, pattering footsteps, even the arguing. I realize this. I embrace noise to a point. But I also have come to realize that silence is just as important to my happiness. And once I get the picture, all those feelings come back when I'm staring at the road again on my screen. It's a small way of transporting myself back til next time.Sorry for the book, thank you for listening to my rambling thoughts!
xx
