Grape Hyacinths

The genus Muscari, commonly and collectively known as grape hyacinths, are a group of perennial plants native to Eurasia that produce urn-shaped spikes of dense, most commonly blue, flowers resembling bunches of grapes in the spring. White cultivars also exist.

Although commonly found in singles this 2015 edition of the Matchbox 2012 Ford Explorer was also used in their five vehicle sets which appeared on the pegs of ASDA and probably other U.K. retailers in the Christmas period. A decent casting which looks good in Emergency liveries such as this and good enough for various obscure Chinese toy companies to copy it. Mint and boxed.

The Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is a bird sanctuary located on western tip of the Island of Chorao along the river Mandovi, Goa, in India. The sanctuary is named after Dr. Salim Ali, the eminent Indian ornithologist. Away from the beaches of Goa this is truly a paradise for nature lovers and bird watchers where you can see a variety of species of birds and plants.

From Panaji, one can take a cab, auto or bus till the Ribandar ferry dock and take a ferry across the Mandovi River to the island. The Sanctuary is located very close to the ferry dock and identified with a signboard.

The size of the sanctuary is 178 ha (440 acres). The area is covered with a thick layer of mangrove forest. The place is not well maintained but it is habitat with rich species of birds.

One can find many different kinds of birds and animals, including species such as the mudskipper and the black drongo.

Kingfishers are a group of small to medium sized brightly coloured birds in the order Coraciiformes. They have a cosmopolitan distribution, with most species being found in the Old World and Australasia. The group is treated either as a single family, Alcedinidae, or as a suborder Alcedines containing three families, Alcedinidae (river kingfishers), Halcyonidae (tree kingfishers), and Cerylidae (water kingfishers). There are roughly 90 species of kingfisher. All have large heads, long, sharp, pointed bills, short legs, and stubby tails. Most species have bright plumage with little differences between the sexes. Most species are tropical in distribution, and a slight majority are found only in forests. They consume a wide range of prey as well as fish, usually caught by swooping down from a perch. Like other members of their order they nest in cavities, usually tunnels dug into the natural or artificial banks in the ground. A few species, principally insular forms, are threatened with extinction.

Did a photoshoot with a friend's wife yesterday. He jumped in for a few which I may post later on.

Update!

I'm having a huuge technical issue. My laptop has officially died which is what I do all my editing on. So even though I have a PC to access the internet I have no photoshop and can't even get the trial of it on here :( I'm having a very bad time!! And as the people who follow my work regularly will know that I use photoshop a lot... about 90% of my ideas involve manipulation.

SO! I haven't given up on my 365, I still took yesterdays photo and todays, I just won't be able to upload them until they're a complete product.

I'm very sorry but don't think I've given up! :)

bom diaa! mais uma quinta-flower..desejo a todos um ótimo findi ..já que aqui em Criciúma é feriado amanhã..dia 04/12 dia de Sta. Bárbara.

The Faroe Islands are an archipelago between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic, about halfway between Norway and Iceland, 320 kilometres north-northwest of Scotland. The islands are an autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark. Their area is about 1,400 square kilometres with a population of 50,030 in April 2017.

The Faroes' terrain is rugged, and the islands have a subpolar oceanic climate: windy, wet, cloudy, and cool. Despite this island group's northerly latitude, temperatures average above freezing throughout the year because of the Gulf Stream.

Between 1035 and 1814, the Faroes were part of the Hereditary Kingdom of Norway. In 1814, the Treaty of Kiel granted Denmark control over the islands, along with two other Norwegian island possessions: Greenland and Iceland. The Faroe Islands have been a self-governing country within the Kingdom of Denmark since 1948.

The Faroese have control of most domestic matters. Areas that remain the responsibility of Denmark include military defence, the police department, the justice department, currency, and foreign affairs. However, as they are not part of the same customs area as Denmark, the Faroe Islands have an independent trade policy, and can establish trade agreements with other states. The islands also have representation in the Nordic Council as members of the Danish delegation. The people of the Faroe Islands also compete as a national team in certain sports.

-----

The Faroe Islands have been on my travel list for quite a time; lost in the cold waters of the Atlantic, seldom visited, off-the-beaten path, possessing all those lovely moods of the deep north I'm fond of...

We spent 10 days in the archipelago in total, pursuing hiking day trips or even going for overnight stays somewhere in the wild - and it was a beautiful northern experience, with moods of solitude, splendid sunshine turning into heavy rains, sometimes strong winds - all in beautiful unspoiled nature and when exploring picturesque small towns and villages.

Mykines island has it all. Or nothing… depends on what you prefer. All for those who seek for solitude, end of the world type of a place, wild and rugged scenery, thousands of seabirds.

Only accessible by boat or helicopter and without any car traffic, there are just 11 permanent residents of Mykines village; although there are 40 houses in the settlement, only six are inhabited year-round.
