Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Mill City Museum is built around the ruins of the Washburn A Mill, the largest flour mill in the world in the 1800's. Destroyed by a flour dust explosion in 1878. Rebuilt and used for decades, it was destroyed again by a fire in 1991. The museum was built into the ruins in the early 2000's. On the National Register of Historic Places.

Just west of Lanesboro, Minnesota. Built in 1869, the church building in 1894 was rotated 90 degrees, sawed in half and expanded in the middle. Lars Iverson's 1861 log cabin was moved to the church site in 1934 to preserve it from destruction.

The William A. Irvin first launched in Lorain, Ohio, on November 10, 1937 from the yards of the American Ship Building Company. It cost $1.3 million to build her. She began her maiden voyage on June 25, 1938 and soon began hauling materials from the tip of Lake Superior (Two Harbors, Superior and Duluth) down to US Steel’s mills on Lakes Michigan and Erie. She was retired in 1978 - canalpark.com

A twilight view of Minneapolis downtown led by 3rd ave bridge or old central ave bridge. The bridge over Mississippi divides upstream St Anthony Falls and Nicholet Islands. The was no major turbulence or breeze which helped me in getting a 360 reflection. It was the first day of spring with near 60F of this rear. The premier green space of the Twin Cities

I've been aiming to get a shot like this for years (as many others have, I imagine). Finally, I found the right combination of an aspen grove with thick enough tree growth, the right timing on the color, and blue sky (shooting this against an overcast sky just doesn't work, too much contrast). Also, shooting full frame (so my 17mm lens is actually that) helps capture way more of the canopy. In either case, it was awesome to experience this beauty in person!

Inside Spud Boy Diner in Lanesboro, Minnesota. Built in 1926 by Goodell and restored by the current owner Gordon, it's authentic 1920's americana.
