Sunrise after a few days of heavy rain in Metro Vancouver. After 15 minutes of this sunrise cloud moved in again.

We were originally going to make the trip to Moraine Lake only to find that the road was closed without a chance to get to the beautiful little lake.
We settled for Lake Louise, which ended up exceeding both our expectations.
Tashia was busy taking photos from the standard vantage point from dead-on. You know? Right near the pay-per-use binoculars.
I settled down near the (liquid) water. There is something about seeing water in this state in the winter. It's generally unheard of in Saskatchewan during wintertime.
So I set up my tripod right in the water; two legs dipped right in, one leg resting on the ice on the shoreline.
I never thought I would say it but it would have been nicer to get wider than 11mm. I feel that there is so much crammed in the frame but there could be so much more.
I love the textures in the underwater rock but I absolutely love the ice/snow on the fringe of the water; so crunchy.
South Saskatchewan weather update: more fog, more frost.
It's been fantastic for weather this weekend. We got up at 530 am yesterday and decided to make a trip out to Wascana Trails just outside of Lumsden, Saskatchewan.
We made it into the valley just before sunrise and right after the freezing ice rain developed into a consistent downfall.
We were dressed for the weather so it was a really enjoyable time. There was frost on everything and it wasn't too cold, even with the wind.
I was having the hardest time trying to nail down the correct WB for most of my shots yesterday but I think I got it figured out in post.
The moon rises over Kitsilano and reflects off the waters of English Bay. This was the evening after the Full Sturgeon Moon. Here's an image from one of the greatest birthdays I have had to date.
We spent the entire day on a 16 km hike, which I can still barely move from. We spent some time in Banff, sat in the hot spring, then started driving home when it was already quite dark out.
While we were driving back to Golden, BC., where we are lodging, we stopped for a quick stop at this rest stop. It was clear at night, which we saw was rare for this area of the park.
I stacked all of these images (22) in Photoshop using Lighten blending mode. Originally, I was only going to have one frame with me in it, I am the blurry headlamp sneaking through the frame, but I decided to keep them all in there.
It was really difficult to compose the shot I wanted because of the constant traffic that whirred by the frosty mountain highway. Just off camera-right, the lights from cars in both directions were coming into play. I decided to work with it and it lit up the outhouse rather nicely. I didn't think so at first, but after reviewing on the screen when I got home, I knew I got what I wanted.
It's been a great pleasure to be out in BC, and Alberta for these last few days. I have some memories to take home and some lovely images, as well.
Here's to my 30th birthday vacation and time to pack up and head home, for the weekend!
Tis the season in British Columbia. July and August are super dry and any spark will start a forest fire. This one is above Penticton on Campbell mountain.
