I was experimenting this past weekend with the Bluebirds and some holly branches with berries......haven't got it quite right but getting closer and closer. They are amazingly tolerant of people and props...... When I got home from work yesterday, I was told that the Robins had eaten most of the berries!!
Even if they fail you can learn something, experiments with coffee and graphite on paper
wish You all a nice day.
Strobist: AB1600 with gridded 60 X30 softbox camera right. Reflector camera left. Triggered by Cybersync.
A little experiment in recycling using one ply of a painted paper towel (leftover clean-up towel from a past fabric painting session), a couple of scraps of a painted used fabric softener sheet and some painted cheesecloth – on a piece of wool felt.
Today I experimented with putting an iPad behind the bubble solution to color the background of the bubble. You can see I still used my flash with a diffuser attached creating the large white hotspot in the bubble. The background was displaying the photo booth app with the thermal camera selected. I'll post the background image on my Instagram story. I still haven't gotten the "perfect" bubble shot so I am going to keep working.
This is for the new theme in Macro Mondays, pastel colors. This is a macro of the corner of a brilliant logo on a t-shirt -- I picked it because the colors were so vivid. Only changes here in Lightroom were use of Adobe Vivid Color, minimal sharpening, and noise reduction.

This is a montage of two photos. I've taken both pictures with a 500mm mirror lens this afternoon.

"The more horrifying the world becomes, the more art becomes abstract." ~ Paul Klee
This was a bit of an experiment. First, I was using my new second filter, so I could essentially create a 16-stop filter (this is a 4-minute long exposure). Second, I played around with the image in Color Efex Pro (I really don't know my way around that plug-in yet but it sure is fun to play with). I ended up really liking this Bleach Bypass look with some adjustments to the water.
Experimenting with a bright flashlight to do light painting this morning using the new Canon 6D, before sunrise, at home, at the Golden Gate, and the Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco, USA. I'm not impressed, could've taken these easily with a cheaper camera. Swans got lit by the flashlight here.
I'm trying out my new macro 105 mm f2.8 lens but the light conditions were awful and I have so much to learn about this. Most of my stuff went in the bucket but these were the best
My 2 goals this year-to master dripping water & lightning!!! bumped up the midtone contrast on this one as the sky wasn't quite as dark as i would have liked. also this was more of a lightning burst than the lightining rod i had wanted.
sorry comments havent been more exciting/plentiful-i havent been feeling well-dr's appointment tomorrow so bear with me!
also, if any of you have any suggestions/advice as to how to capture lightning, it would be greatly appreciated! havent quite figured out shutter speed yet.
oh, by the way, tried to crop several ways, this looked best to me. gave it more depth with contrast of dark street in foreground & dark sky to right-can you tell I've been reading alot of photography books lately!
This was shot using a Hot Mirror filter over my Canon Rebel T5 converted to 590 nm. The hot mirror blocks uv and IR light and passes visible light. Theoretically with this combination only light in the wave lengths from 590 nm to about 720 nm reached the sensor. This is mostly visible red light and some visible yellow light. To preserve the color balance, the RAW image was converted to TIF using Canon Digital Photo Professional. The files convert nicely to black and white with good contrast and giving a dark sky tone. This is how the image appeared on the camera’s lcd screen.

The Mediocre - Polaroid SLR680 with Impossible PX680 V4C test film. L/D wheel = a little towards the dark.
I used a tripod for both these shots. The one one the left is actually a reflection (yes that's me in the foreground). I found the reflection as interesting as the carousel itself though I'm not convinced I really thought out this shot. Had to manually focus (not my strong point) because of the sonar vs glass thing.
The shot on the right was taken while the carousel was moving (even I don't shake that much!). This hasn't really worked as I saw it in my head but that's my fault not the films. It really needed a longer exposure.
