BOMBO PLUTO OVA — PHANTOM CD Album

Noise rock group Bombo Pluto Ova commissioned !nodoro to design their third album entitled Phantom. We came up with the concept of a sound sculpture capturing the essence of venom-like forms or dark abstractions. In order to produce the outcome, we wanted to synchronized the image with it's corresponding track and determine the reactions - more like an "abstract painting equalizer." The process was so tedious that we ran vast amounts of trials and errors just to get the right forms. The finished product was digitally printed in photo paper on a standard transparent jewel case. Limited copies are sold under Bomba! Records, Philippines. Art direction, design and custom typeface — !NODORO Sound sculpture — PJ Ong Product photography — Sherwin Ferolino Music Artist — Bombo Pluto Ova (www.myspace.com/bomboplutoova) Label — Bomba! Records (bombarecords.tumblr.com)

Drawing as performance relic, or art object. Made during FiBi Concrete II, performance: Smile Rainbow Tears. The performance involved the artist moving in a slow, contemplative improvisation, while releasing colored inks from a water carrier ~ body sculpture, onto papers arranged on the floor in front of the audience present, and intimate, within a few feet of the mindful, concentrated attention, performative action.

Lucian

You look much more rested today.

How do you feel?

Veronica

Much better, Lucian, thank you.

Lucian

I am very glad to hear that.

If at any point you start to feel uncomfortable, please, do not hesitate to let me know.

Your well being is very important to me.

I would never want to think I have pushed you too hard.

Veronica

You are very thoughtful Lucian and I want you to know I trust you completely.

If there are any issues I will be sure to say so.

Lucian

OK, lets begin.

This time, a free and automatic word association, triggered by visual stimulus and word prompt.

The word is “Incantation”.

Veronica

Blind.

Black.

Book.

A dimensional atlas.

A dream codex.

A cipher.

It becomes real when spoken.

A hall of mirrors.

A black ocean.

Endless space.

It becomes real when spoken.

Lucian

OK, hold this image in your mind.

Now continue.

Veronica

A symbolic language.

A thin veil.

Parallel dimensions.

It feels cold, like the movement of a ghost between worlds.

An outer intelligence.

A black ocean.

Birth.

Fear.

Electricity.

Panic.

Spiraling out.

Falling outward.

Disintegration.

An endless black space.

A magical incantation.

A new narrative.

It becomes real when spoken.

A focus of attention.

Whispered into existence.

Shine Bright, New Life.

Shine Bright, New Life.

Shine Bright, New Life.

Shine Bright, New Life.

Lucian

Hold this image in your mind.

Hold this image in your mind.

The word is “Incantation”.

You don't have to park on the train tracks to get hit by a train. The guy in the blue tank top parked his 1977 Chrysler Cordoba with Corinthian Leather seats a little too close to the train tracks and walked away, then BANG ! ! ! ......and the train kept a rollin.

Logger and Settlement Series:

An excerpt from a Logger trip (a different trip than the displayed image)

"Today I chop down my 5th tree. It is hot and humid in the forest and full of bugs and cotton fluffs. Life here has flourished since my last visit, and now the trees and pathways are covered in green. The tree I have chosen is right off of the path, and about half-way towards the river from the entrance of the parking lot. It is medium sized, about 50-60 feet high, and should take anywhere from an hour or two to topple. I'm working with a one foot pie cut technique, as that has seemed to work the best with the previous 4 trees. Although my hands tire quickly, and the tree seems to have immense strength and staying power, it is only a matter of time before the wood begins to creak and moan. The satisfaction of watching the tree fall, and listening to the tremendous crash of foliage, makes every drop of sweat, every swing of the axe, and every bug bite completely worth it."

For the finger painting assignment. Huge fun - I love how you felt free with this - not expecting it to turn out that good, but I was pleased with the result. It took a lot of layers though!
