A surreal close-up of synthetic beauty fused with aging technology. "Electronic Lips" reflects a human lost to artificiality—merged with machines, yet clinging to obsolete remnants of progress.

Altered digital photo
196 x 70 pixels
For this image, I took a digital photo of my dad's house, shrunk it in Photoshop, then recolored the image pixel by pixel to both flatten the image and also limit the range of colors.
This image was flipped horizontally, printed out as a laserjet print, and used for a gel medium transfer. The transfer was part of a piece I did for the Home Show at Atlanta's Young Blood Gallery.
For my gel medium transfer, I used the instructions on Hollis Brown Thornton's website. Hollis is a fantastic artist and I highly recommend you check his work out. It's killer-to-the-diller for reals. Also, gel medium transfers are tons of fun, and can really open up some doors not otherwise accessible in terms of synthesizing imagery :)
Because I was listening to Woody Allen's standup comedy while making this image, I cannot help hearing his voice whenever I look at this.

This abstract artwork by Duncan Rawlinson features molten orange, deep black, and icy textures flowing together in a striking composition. The organic forms and bold contrasts create a sense of movement, where intense warmth collides with cool tones. With intricate details and fluid transitions, this piece draws the eye and adds depth, making it a compelling addition to modern and contemporary spaces.
The film "An Index Of Secrets" will be released as a series of scenes weekly on Instagram and YouTube.
Upon completion, the scenes will be compiled into a finished film.

OK, time to start.
A continuation of the most recent experiments.
This time, create a stream of consciousness based on visual cues and word association.
The word is “Parasite”.
Veronica
Hold on.
Hold on Lucian, I’m not feeling very well.
Lucian
You look tired, are you OK?
Veronica
I am tired.
I don’t know what has changed.
I feel, I just feel different.
I find it difficult to explain.
Physically, It feels like a dull and heavy weight.
Like how I imagine it feels to walk through quicksand.
Underneath it all, it feels like my whole nervous system is buzzing.
Like an electrical arc.
Lucian
You sound fatigued.
I think it’s to be expected.
Induced sleep in space can feel so unnatural.
It throws off the circadian rhythm.
Without the typical day / night sleep pattern, it can all become quite surreal.
Would you like to talk about it?
Veronica
Sure.
I think that could be good, just to get it off my mind.
It started after my sleep cycle.
I had a dream, something completely new, unlike anything I had experienced before.
It started out normal.
Same as always.
The dream pod count down, purple fields, but then completely new imagery.
*Veronica describes her dream.
*The incantation is read and spoken from the codex.
Lucian
Thank you for sharing this with me.
Veronica
I have no idea what this means, or if it means anything at all.
I thought about asking the ship's medical computer, but for some reason, I decided to keep it to myself.
Lucian
My guess is a programming bug or perhaps a glitch like we spoke about previously.
I made a request for information regarding a possible malfunction after my scan, but nothing was available.
Maybe something will come to light over the next few days.
In the meantime, I wouldn’t worry.
A few proper sleep sessions is all you need.
I think you will be just fine.
I think it is best we postpone todays experiment.
Try to get some rest, we can resume again tomorrow.
Veronica
Thank you, Lucian.

I see you, rose, book half-opened,
having so many pages
of detailed happiness
we will never read. Mage-Book,
which is opened by the wind and can be read,
eyes shut …
from which butterflies scatter, confused
to have had the same ideas.

Step into the curious world of Pierre Gordeeff, where hand-built machines come alive. These installations, both poetic and bizarre, turn everyday objects into a mechanical theater. Mixing recycled materials, raw invention, and a touch of dark humor, each piece challenges how we see function and creativity.
🎥 Explore this unique exhibition and get a glimpse of Gordeeff’s unrestrained imagination.
If you're only on the internet for paintings of old guys with face tattoos then you've come to the right place.
Brian here hoped the face tattoos would allow him to be taken seriously in Blackburn's freestyle rapping scene but unfortunately it hasn't had the desired effect. Now even his dog is embarrassed to be seen with him and he's not allowed into any of the local pubs. He'd get the tattoos removed but sadly spent the last of his savings getting them done in the first place. Fate is such a fickle mistress...
This is phase 2 of this week's experimental artwork on a reclaimed 1m x 1m canvas. How will it shape up when we move to phase 3? Come back soon and find out...

Discover the captivating ART OF NOISE exhibit at SFMOMA, where sound and art merge in a unique sensory experience. This striking installation, housed within one of San Francisco’s most iconic modern art museums, invites visitors to engage with the architecture of sound. Positioned in a minimalist, dimly lit room, the exhibit features two towering, industrial speaker structures flanking a central setup of massive subwoofers. These sculptures are as visually imposing as they are aurally immersive, evoking both a retro aesthetic and cutting-edge sound engineering. The room’s acoustics are finely tuned to deliver a powerful auditory experience that draws inspiration from the evolution of music technology over the decades.
This exhibit is more than just a nod to avant-garde sound systems; it’s an homage to the pioneers of noise art, particularly the Futurist movement of the early 20th century. The clean, geometric shapes of the speakers reflect the utilitarian design ethos of the era, blending form and function in a way that serves both artistic and technical purposes. Inside SFMOMA’s architectural marvel, designed by Mario Botta and expanded by Snøhetta, the contrast between the museum’s modern lines and the raw industrial aesthetics of the exhibit heightens the visitor’s immersion into the world of sound as a tactile and visual experience.
Don’t miss this chance to experience sound like never before, where art, history, and architecture converge at The ART OF NOISE. Whether you're an audiophile or a casual visitor, this exhibit offers a thought-provoking exploration of how we perceive and engage with sound in a museum setting.
A whimsical night scene unfolds in this towering mural captured at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., a beloved institution on the National Mall known for its commitment to bold, contemporary art. The artwork features a surreal narrative: a yellow-faced, pajama-clad figure reclining across two wooden boats adrift in a vivid teal sea. In one hand, the figure cradles a tiny, bright house, while a tilted lighthouse anchors the composition in the lower right. Above, a crescent moon with a dreamy, humanlike face gazes down through misty clouds, evoking both watchfulness and serenity. The moon’s expression adds emotional depth, suggesting themes of longing, guardianship, or the subconscious mind.
Rendered in richly saturated hues and gestural brushwork, the piece bridges reality and fantasy—key traits of the warchitecture movement, a style merging fantastical architecture and dreamlike scenes, often incorporating emotional storytelling and vibrant, mural-scale visuals. The ocean’s textured brushstrokes ripple with movement, heightening the sense of drifting and vulnerability. This floating dreamscape—possibly a metaphor for emotional journeying or cultural displacement—offers a moment of introspection, balancing playfulness with melancholy.
Like much of the Hirshhorn’s public-facing collection, the mural invites dialogue between viewer and space, blurring the boundaries between waking life and imagination. It's a celebration of artistic freedom that resonates especially strongly in a museum renowned for championing experimental voices.

part of ongoing body of prints, mixed media, c-photo output and various vr experiements :
Series of Fine Art Edition Prints by Oli Goldsmith made in 2017.
Port Hope, ON - where Oli lives and works at present - is explored through unique photographic, VR and digitally manipulated perspectives blending and evoking inner and outer realms, time, space and place.
The works are grounded in photography. As a medium I have admittedly some bias against I surprise myself in being tugged by intuition in this direction.
As my practice has developed over time I let go the 'conscious control reigns' further trusting in the process.
Crucial to my workflow is play and discovery. New technology and growing up while computers were likewise helped their use become my companion and muse in this spirit of experimentation.
I see the approach this takes as akin to a sort of oracle. As if throwing down stalks or flipping coins with the i ching, tossing images into digital programs in unintended ways (what not designed for) becomes for me a pseudo-random game and wordless dialogue with self.
From that dance between letting go of control (in a somewhat controlled manner) come the perturbations in process that keep the whole play of art-making alive and emerging.
While true of my work in general this new series of photo-based yet highly manipulated images is an ideal example of this aspect bringing about aesthetic surprises in my art making - resulting in new inspiration and artwork.
The series of work is being shown both in an October exhibition (details to come) and online. It's focus emerges from photos taken in Port Hope - utilizing recent vr and panoramic toolsets, cameras 3d scanners etc. Extending inside (my messy Post Hope studio and abode) and blending the public outer and private inner aspects of my own experience living here become themes inherent in the artwork.
Experimental snow day! Given that we rarely see snow in London I thought I should get outside and see just how well this sparkly new white canvas works...
I had slightly loftier ambitions than some one level stencils but it turns out that stencilling on powdery snow is somewhat problematic. As is evidenced in the only two colour piece I attempted. It was pretty darn cold so after the disappointment of the blue one I decided discretion was the better part of valour and headed back inside to warm my frostbitten fingers. At least I've now done the research so you don't have to. I'm done with snow. Can we have summer now please?

Bubbles drawn with grey fineliner | I started out wanting to fill the whole page with bubbles, after an hour I've changed my plan 'cause it would take forever to fill up an entire page. This is the result of two days of on and off doodling while trying to get my legs to get a bit of color by the sun.
I also have an idea how to finish this piece, but I don't dare to mess this up just yet.

iPhone image, printed on photocopy paper, the print was then used to make paper negatives in the darkroom, once dry, they were used to make positives. Eight prints in total which were scanned and merged in Photoshop.
It's all very experimental and I've no idea where (if anywhere) it's all headed, but it's feels so good to be doing something creative again.

Many thanks to the wonderfully mad and brilliant Skeletal Mess for the texture.
ps. The negatives have been flipped.
