The dark misery exists in me
spreading itself throughout my body
Hot anger covers me like a cloud
One that seem to downpour
But only upon me...no one else
So many faces pass me by
...but do they care
Shadowed faces, darkened people,
Walking quietly beside their own fears
...Seems to distract them
No longer do I seek dreamland
...it was overtaken
Nightmares rein when time is found
...to sleep in this hell
Fools laugh at what they cannot see
That which they cannot know
They think only with their lips
...how little they know
Blinded by the light of lies
I stand lost in this maze of eternal darkness
All around me souls lie buried or missing
God to rest in peace even with one eye open
I could pretend to hide from the fears
...the ones I created

Super-Padd, who has recently taken up residence at Mummy Marian (Marian Kloon (on and off)\'s) house in the Netherlands wants to visit Cousin Paddington, Paddy, Daddy Jesse and all the bears in Australia. Unfortunately, he couldn\'t go through the magic portal that exists between Mummy Marian\'s House and Daddy Jesse\'s House as he is too big and too tubby. Peter asked for help from Fairy Mum, who has made Super-Padd a little...well...a little too little, but still big enough to visit Cousin Paddington via the magic portal. Cousin Paddington and Scout waited for the arrival of Super Padd and Peter, and when they arrived escorted them to the house where Daddy Jesse put on a wonderful afternoon tea for them all before they played hide-and-seek. However all good things come to an end, and it was time for Peter and Super-Padd to go home to Mummy Marian's. Part of Super-Padd's promise to Fairy Mum in exchange for her making him small was that he had to be back in Mummy Marian's garden within 24 hours before the spell was broken. Now Super-Padd and Peter are at the magical portal doorway.
PETER: "We are here Super-Padd. Will you please open the door because with all these home-baked biscuits in my hands from Daddy Jesse, I can't. My paws are full, and I'm afraid they'll fall. I don't want to give Mummy Marian broken biscuits!"
SUPER-PADD: "Pulls on the door.* "Hmpf...argh....I can't get the door open!"
PETER: "What? Oh, then I'll do it, Super-Padd." *Puts the biscuits down carefully*. "With those little paws of yours, you won't be able to open the door. It can be a bit stiff sometimes."
SUPER-PADD: "Thank you Peter."
PETER: "Pulls hard on the door.* "Darn...it's stuck
How can that be?" *Shocked.* "What should we do? In a little while the spell will be broken Super-Padd, and you will return to full size and be too big to get through the magical portal! The biscuits will go limp and stale, and the Christmas Bear won't come!" *Tears well in eyes.* "Oh we can't have that! We have to think... and quickly!" *Worried.*
SCOUT: "Peter! Peter mijn allerbeste vriend! Wait!"
PETER: "What? Scout! What is it, mijn beste vriend?"
SCOUT: "You forgot the shortbread biscuits for Mummy Marian and Jan!" *Stops.* "Peter! What's wrong? You're crying!" *Alarmed.*
PETER: "Oh Scout! The door to the magic portal is stuck! In a little while the spell cast by Fairy Mum over Super-Padd will be broken and he will return to full size and be too big to get through the magical portal!"
SCOUT: "Well, I'm sure Daddy wouldn't mind having Super-Padd live here, and I know Cousin Paddington would like it soooo much! And Daddy loves you and you know how happy your princes Rosie and I would be if you lived with us too!"
PETER: "No, you don't understand, Scout. There are ram.. rami... ramific... there are other things that will happen if Super-Padd and I can't get through the magic portral! The biscuits will go limp and stale, and the Christmas Bear wwon't come! And besides." *Starts to cry again.* "However much I would love to be here with you and mijn allerliefste Prinses Rosie forever, I would miss Oleg, even if he is grumpy, and Mummy Marian and Jan! And... and...a nd if the door is stuck, it means nobear can get through the portal to visit one another!"
SCOUT: "Oh no!" *Alarmed.*
PETER: "And time is running out! We don't have long!" *Concerned.*
SCOUT: "Oh no!" *Starts to cry.*
DADDY: "Now, now! What is all this! Peter, Scout, you are crying! What's wrong?"
SCOUT: "Oh Daddy! Daddy! The door to the magic portal is stuck! Super-Padd needs to get home before he becomes to big to fit through the magic portal again!"
DADDY: "Let me see if I can help you. Here Super-Padd. Let me try."
SUPER-PADD: *Stops trying to open the magic portal door.* "Oh thank you, Mr. Daddy!"
SCOUT and PETER: "Thank you, Daddy!"
DADDY: *Pulls on the door.* "Hmpf.... hmpf... hhhmmm... it is rather stuck!"
SUPER-PADD, SCOUT and PETER: "Oh please try harder, Daddy!"
DADDY: *Pulls on the door.* "Hmpf.... hmpf..." *Feels it moving.* "Oh, it's opening!"
The magic portal door finally gives way and opens, revealing Mummy Marian's garden.
SUPER-PADD, SCOUT and PETER: "Oh thank you, Daddy!"
DADDY: "There you are! Off you go now." *Smiles.* "Oh Peter! Don't forget the shortbread biscuits too!" *Gives Peter some home made shortbread biscuits for Mummy Marian and Jan.*
PETER: "Oh thank you, Daddy!" *Accepts biscuits.* "Goddbye and thank you again, Daddy!"
DADDY: "Goodbye Peter. Goodbye Super-Padd! Come back and play again soon!"
SUPER-PADD: "Thank you Mr. Daddy! Bye-bye!" *Waves as he walks through the portal door just in time before he becomes big again.*
PETER: "Goodbye mijn beste vriend Scout! See you soon! Next time, you can come and play with me at Mummy Marian's house!"
SCOUT: "Yes! I will come and play soon! Ik hou zoooooo veel van jou! Berenkusjes van Scout, je allerbeste vriend!" *Waves as Peter walks through the portal into Mummy Marian's garden.*
My bears Paddy and Scout have made very good friends with two bears in Holland called Peter and Oleg (www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/galleries/721577154558...) and their Mummy Marian Kloon (on and off). Peter and Scout are very similar and have become best friends. Peter also loves Rosie and she loves him, so they have become prince and princess to one another. Super-Padd (www.flickr.com/photos/66094586@N06/albums/72177720322005215/) is distantly related to Cousin Paddington. He has taken up residence at Mummy Marian\'s house, and can now take advantage of the magic portal between Mummy Marian\'s house and mine! You can see Super-Padd flying through the sky here: and being reduced in size here: www.flickr.com/photos/66094586@N06/54176124571/in/album-7... or in the first comment below.
Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.
Thank you very much to Marian Kloon (on and off) for the use of her photo of Peter and Super-Padd at the magic portral door to help make my photo montage, and for her words at the beginning of the story.
The sky coninually gives us a new look as the clouds roll in and out of the ciity.

We exist first in the mind, an idea, maybe a name. And from the dirt we grow - budding slowly, stems growing tall against all odds. In the spring, our flowers bloom wide, petals blowing softly in the wind. We breathe the air that gave us life, keeping our roots in the ground that held us strong. Our bodies are the earth.

These women do not exist. They each are a composite of about 30 faces that I created to find out the current standard of good looks on the Internet.
On the popular Hot or Not web site, people rate others’ attractiveness on a scale of 1 to 10. An average score based on hundreds or even thousands of individual ratings takes only a few days to emerge.
I collected some photos from the site, sorted them by rank and used SquirlzMorph to create multi-morph composites from them. Unlike projects like Face of Tomorrow or Beauty Check where the subjects are posed for the purpose, the portraits are blurry because the source images are low resolution with differences in posture, hair styles, glasses, etc, so that I could use only 36 control points for the morphs.
What did I conclude about good looks from these virtual faces? First, morphs tend to be prettier than their sources because face asymmetries and skin blemishes average out. However, the low score images show that fat is not attractive. The high scores tend to have narrow faces. I will leave it to you to find more differences and to do a similar project for men.

Exist To Exit [Arch Enemy]
Im not entirely sure what spurred me on to build this, it was so long ago I've completely forgotten why it exists.
It does pretty much what it says in the title, it's a Tardis interior to suit the Master when he was posing as Harold Saxon. The look of it is based a great deal on the interior of "The Valiant", the Cloudbase style craft. It's got the same kinda look to it, the wood walls, the lines, the pillars, and even a glass Tardis console. I probably could have been more ambitious, but it looks nice enough. Gotta say, the Loki head works really well for John Simms Master, I'me quite impressed by it.
I can sense I'm starting off on a ramble so I think I'll leave things there. You're free to continue with your day.
Fairfield is part of the Church of England parish of Brookland and Fairfield on Walland Marsh (part of Romney Marsh) in the Shepway District of Kent, England. Until 1934 it was a civil parish, but was then absorbed into the civil parish of Snargate. The area lies west of the village of Brookland.
The area is most notable for the isolated church of St Thomas a Becket, a Grade I listed building, in the Romney Deanery.
This church was used as a filming location for the 2011 BBC adaption of Great Expectations.
Fairfield lies between Brookland and Brenzett on a minor road in a deserted part of the Walland Marsh .
The area was won from the sea (inned) sometime between 1200 and 1270. The monks from Canterbury built dykes to the western edge of the Rhee Wall (the sea defenses built by the Romans) and enclosed the land so reclaiming the rich and fertile soil from the sea.
1287 saw the great storm in which Broomhill was swept away and New Romney barely survived. The Rother changed its course to the sea, and exited the marshes at Rye, whereas before the storm the river found its way to the sea near to modern day Greatstone and Littlestone .
Fayrefelde existed before 1595 as a map of the time shows the village approximately where the church now sits. It is likely that as the land became more reclaimed so the village sprung up.
Nowadays all that can be seen is the church lying down from the road embankment which is probably the original inning wall. The church was built as a temporary structure of timber lath and plaster in the 1200's to support the local farming community. The exterior has been strengthened with brick, and in 1913 the whole building was reconstructed and encased to preserve it.
St Thomas a Beckett at Fairfield is one of those churches supported by the Romney Marsh Historic Churches Trust .
O "Onten" ja nao existe.
Apenas como sadico,
me deixou lembrancas
para machucar...
O "Hoje" eh transitorio e breve
Nao me da tempo para realizar
os sonhos transferidos...
O "Amanha" eh egoista e incerto.
Nao pertence a ninguem,
Nao se submete.
Nao me da certeza de aceitar a espera.
So o "Agora" esta preso a mim.
Caminha comigo ao longo da vida.
So ele me pertence
e aceita minha mutacoes.
Ja nao choro o ontem,
Ja nao confio no hoje,
Ja nao espero o amanha.
So o agora tem sentido de eternidade,
para o bem ou para o mal.

This no longer exists, it is now the site of condominiums, built in 2016, shortly after this picture was taken.
"During the height of their success, there were two Apperson (auto) plants in Kokomo. The south plant was built just south of Wildcat Creek between Main and Union street. After the Apperson company failed, the south plant was used as a warehouse for years, most recently by Northern Indiana Supply Company and DeLong Auto Parts. When NISCO closed, much of the building was left empty and began to deteriorate.
In late 2014, an Indianapolis company announced plans to redevelop the south plant buildings as a luxury apartment community. Initial reports indicated that they would retain much of the original structure, but later decisions led to its complete demolition. Bricks from the original structure were salvaged and will become part of the new development.
Plans for the apartments fit a dynamic new vision for the heart of the city, but, bricks or no bricks, the essence of the place and the last vestige of a pioneering automaker are irretrievably gone."

This Streetside seems to show part of the facade of Northern Indiana Supply intact as part of the condominiums:

The wheel of time.
I made a trip into the past, I am going back in time. I went back into that world that no longer exists. I saw the people as they were in that world, I saw people who are gone. I heard music and smelled forget that I felt as a child. All is as I remembered, only now does anything effect. A beautiful effect, but terrifying. The nostalgia is shaking the whole time machine in near fine tilt.
I go back to the present.
Here everything is calm, all damn cool. Life is hectic but it's all too quiet. In that world of long ago, that world where I was before it remains only an echo, a shadow tired and faded, it is the end, forced an end.
The old viaduct at Meldon, Okehampton, once carried British Rail services to Penzance without the erosion problems of the coastal line. It is now the end of the line for the Dartmoor Railway and only carries the Granite Way cycle path and pedestrians. It is an superb example of ironwork engineering and was built in 1871 to carry the London and South Western Railway (LSWR). It is equally impressive from below. The green is not paintwork but algae and is picked particularly vividly by the flash.

The Panama Canal Railway has operated passenger service in its current iteration since the rebuilding of the PCRC in 1998. At the time, the company ran these passenger trains from Panama City to Colon 5 days a week, Monday thru Friday, leaving Panama City at 0700, and leaving Colon City at 1700. These trains were generally aimed at wealthy commuters traveling to the port and Free Trading Zone in Colon.
During the Covid years, operations scaled back, at one point temporarily suspending service before bringing it back, but with a truncated consist of passenger cars, and the mothballing of the Rio Chagres dome car outside cruise ship season.
In April 2025, CPKC and Mi-Jack sold the railway to APM Terminals, a Maersk subsidiary. Since the sale, passenger operations scaled way back to once a week on Saturday's, however they make two round trips a day, one in the morning, one around noon. In addition, they brought back the dome car to regular service. It's clear this is now aimed at tourists instead of commuters. Its great so see a classic passenger train consist still alive months after the sale.

I still exist! I promise! I'm just throwing a 3-day wedding in 12 days. Yep, it's crazy time. As such my living room does NOT look like this right now. Not even a little. Picture more boxes, more paint, more mason jars, more fabric, more glue, more scissors, more exactos, more adventuring cat and more exhausted us.
I hope the land of Flickr is well and good. Shown here: Scott's parent's chairs from decades ago, my homemade pillows, my vintage suitcases filled with old VHS tapes, My teak lamp and Mamiya C33. You might glimpse an old Nintendo NES in there, too.
No consistent distinction exists between cormorants and shags. The names 'cormorant' and 'shag' were originally the common names of the two species of the family found in Great Britain, Phalacrocorax carbo (now referred to by ornithologists as the great cormorant) and P. aristotelis (the European shag). "Shag" refers to the bird's crest, which the British forms of the great cormorant lack. As other species were discovered by English-speaking sailors and explorers elsewhere in the world, some were called cormorants and some shags, depending on whether they had crests or not. Sometimes the same species is called a cormorant in one part of the world and a shag in another, e.g., the great cormorant is called the black shag in New Zealand (the birds found in Australasia have a crest that is absent in European members of the species).
on a road, in the fog, at midnight, on a planet, somewhere in a galaxy of 400 billion stars. The air was perfectly still, small drops of water fell from the trees as blood flowed through my brain and oxygen molecules permeated flesh membranes. I could hear cows calling to each other. This was all, normal.
"There exists in life an overwhelming, soul-dwelling understanding of nature, inherent in the human mind. Senses, and the very notion of feeling, thought, and guts, are entirely too primitive to comprehend all of nature's greatness and absolute wonder. It's like the intuitive "knowing" of love; the conceptual feeling, the expression, and its undeniable "magical" feeling. You know that feeling in the innermost depths of your being---it's like the only thing great enough in this world to be able to actually brush against your soul. It's above everyday senses, and it shatters the finite bounds of all intellect, and logical comprehension."

Tuesday, 30 June 2020: our temperature after 7:00 pm is 12C (windchill 9C). It has been raining - again - all day. Tomorrow, 1 July, is Canada Day and there is snow forecast for the mountains. Sunrise is at 5:26 am and sunset is at 9:53 pm.
These five photos were taken on 25 June 2020, when I got together with five friends at the garden paradise where one of them lives. We each drove west of the city in our own vehicles, and social distancing was perfect. So much room outdoors, and lots of wildlife. Jackie does so much for the birds and animals that either live on her land or visit during migration. They know a good thing when they see it : ) Jackie had baked a delicious cake for us to enjoy, too. Thank you so much for inviting me, Jackie, and it was great to catch up with everyone!
I didn't wander round much at all, as it was such a special time to actually sit down with friends and talk. A little Thirteen-lined Ground Squirrel was busy stuffing its cheeks with sunflower seeds near where we were sitting. They are such beautiful animals. Red Squirrels and a Least Chipmunk were doing the same thing.
Obviously, the information about Thirteen-lined Ground Squirrels below is now outdated, but still of interest. Just makes me feel even luckier than ever : ) I never saw them in South Glenmore Park, but have seen them a few times in Weaselhead and also south of Longview and in Waterton Lakes National Park.
"The Thirteen-lined or Striped Ground Squirrel, if it still exists here, may be the rarest mammal in the Calgary area today...... Calgary sightings: The only known location in Calgary where this species has been sighted is in South Glenmore Park, to the northwest of the park building. It was last reported on 28 April 2002 and 6 June 2002. A population occurs near Millarville (south of Calgary), where one was reported on 17 April 2005. " From the great talkaboutwildlife website, which no longer exists.
Jackie also has placed Bluebird and Tree Swallow nest boxes on her property. She has beautifully decorated some of the boxes with her paintings.
A Mule Deer visited while we were there, seeking water to drink. Jackie had mentioned that deer have been coming and drinking a huge amount of water.
From Jackie's place, I drove a bit further west to check out a few of my usual backroads. Not a lot to see - Brewer's Blackbirds, Mountain Bluebirds and a few other "regulars". However, I was treated to a beautiful Bobolink! As I was driving along, I spotted what looked rather like a Red-winged Blackbird way down the road. When I got nearer, I couldn't believe my eyes! It had obviously flown down the road from one of its more usual locations. It just sat there, and sang. Unfortunately, my photos were taken in harsh light and wind, so not the best. Will post a short video of it soon.
