My third attempt at sketching a pile of books to learn how to construct volumes. Proportions are still off, but the angles are more accurate than in the second attempt.
The books are:
Anna Ahmatova Poetry Volume 2
Memoirs of Nadezhda Mandelshtam
John E Bowlt's "Moscow and St. Petersburg in Russian's Silver age"
I'd love to learn more about poetry, specially the poetry of Russian Silver Age. I should start by reading through all the poetry, history and memoirs books I own.

It's a program for first-time offenders for certain crimes that allows them to avoid incarceration in the general population and upon completion do probation. I made 6-7 trips to the prison in Gonzales, La. to follow one group from their first day there until graduation day over several months in 1989.
Keith Lawrence and I worked on this one for several months before it was published in the Sunday Magazine.

A simple still life (milk jug, mince pie and a clay penguin made by my daughter) for practicing painting abstract shapes made by objects, negative space around them and shadows. While painting it I had few ideas for the white-on-white type of paintings. I need to write them down and tackle them soon before the urge to paint passes by
Sketched from Liz's photo reference. This was my second attempt at drawing this and I am happy with the proportions. But it looks as though it has been sketched with 2 distinctly different styles - a heavy, more considered style / lime (the windows and roof) and then a more loose / sketchy line - the trees, fence, shading etc. Would like to feel that I have a more unified style. Working on that...
