Happy Macro Monday my Flickr Friends
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
I just like how these look like they're exercising. Although the Dove on the top is obviously having 40 winks. 😉
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.
In this fortress shots were only ever fired as part of military exercises. The rock was also a notorious state prison, mostly for prominent members of society.
Johann Friedrich Boettger, the alchemist and one of the inventors of porcelain, served a sentence here "for his own safety", or rather so that the other German rulers could not get hold of him and his abilities. Later famous prisoners in Koenigstein's dungeons did not come of their own will, including the anarchist Michael Bakunin, the Social Democrat August Bebel or the "scandalous novelist" Frank Wedekind.
It was as difficult to conquer Koenigstein Fortress as it was to escape from within its walls, which is why the Saxon court moved here with all the state treasures whenever the situation got difficult. Visitors should take the time to see George's Castle, the new and old arsenals, the cellar of Magdalena's Castle and of course the spring house with the deepest well in Saxony (152.5 m)— and then to enjoy a culinary journey through time in the restaurant »In den Kasematten«.
A panorama elevator carries visitors effortlessly to the top of the plateau of the walled table mountain, allowing superb views over the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and Saxon Switzerland National Park.
Examples done for my book review of Sketching Stuff-Create Like a Kid Again!
So you're a grown up now. All serious and such. But you still want to be creative.
Charlie O'Shields latest book "Sketching Stuff - Create like a Kid Again' is all about that. Don't be fooled by the fun, bold illustrations. A young child would probably enjoy looking at them, and might instantly start creating their own stories. That's the whole point - children don't need much inspiration. Adults often do. And that's the point of this book.
There are 60 exercises that invite you to think like a kid again, and turn on the creative benefits from doing so.

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is the coastal defense and maritime law enforcement branch of the United States Armed Forces and one of the country's seven uniformed services. The Coast Guard is a maritime, military, multi-mission service unique among the U.S. military branches for having a maritime law enforcement mission (with jurisdiction in both domestic and international waters) and a federal regulatory agency mission as part of its mission set. It operates under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security during peacetime, and can be transferred to the U.S. Department of the Navy by the U.S. President at any time, or by the U.S. Congress during times of war. This has happened twice: in 1917, during World War I, and in 1941, during World War II. Created by Congress on 4 August 1790 at the request of Alexander Hamilton as the Revenue-Marine, it is the oldest continuous seagoing service of the United States.
I've shot the HH11 local dozens of times. It's an easy target and it's always a single GP38-2.
I've also shot from this location at CP Harrisburg from atop the State Street Bridge dozens of times. It's a spot I like and it's also easy access from my office in Harrisburg.
I heard the HH11 wanting to come out of the yard with GP38-2 #5179 and knowing 5178 was a high hood I had hoped the same for the #5179.
Well no such luck as I could spot that admiral cab from a mile away.
As he fired up the bright lights I ratcheted the shutter down to 1/6 and decided to grab the big and wide pan.
Why? Well if I don't make it, nothing lost. But if I do...well I've just won gold in the foamer olympics. LOL.
So much fun to observe this owlet’s early attempts at flight! Lots of flapping going on but results are short and awkward!
...or some observations upon the effects of seatravel on the human appetite...
Thanks for your visits!
Have a wonderful weekend :)
