Governor Maura Healey unveils legislation to prohibit Immigration and Customs Enforcement from courthouses, schools, child care centers, hospitals and places of worship during a State House press conference on Jan. 29, 2026. Governor Healey also signed an executive order barring any new 287(g) agreements unless there is a public safety need, preventing ICE from making civil arrests in non-public areas of state facilities and eliminating the use of state property for immigration enforcement staging.
