The Fairchild PT-26-B was an evolution of the successful Fairchild PT-19 trainer. The PT-26 had metal wings and used the Ranger L-440-7 engine. It also included modifications, such as a canopy and oil dilution, to make it more suitable for use in cold weather. Due to the very large number of World War II pilots who learned to fly in a PT-19 and its variants, the class is nicknamed the “Cradle of Heroes.”
This particular aircraft was built by Fleet Aircraft Company of Canada and was used at a Royal Canadian Air Force flight school in Virden, Manitoba. It was placed into storage in November, 1944. It was later found in a barn in Wisconsin and extensively restored.
This plane is dedicated to Royal Air Force (RAF) Flight Lieutenant Richard Boyd, DFC. Boyd grew up in Great Britain. His family’s home was damaged during The Blitz. During that time he also helped the local police by delivering messages by bicycle when the phones stopped working. More than once he was blown off his bike by bomb blasts.
He joined the RAF and trained as a pilot. Before he soloed he was selected for a program to go to the United States to complete his training with the expectation that if he was successful he would return as a bomber pilot or stay in the U.S. to train others. Boyd excelled in the program, received his wings in November 1942, and was selected to be a trainer. In December 1943 he was recalled to the United Kingdom to fly bombers. He eventually ended up flying Lancasters. He flew 33 bombing missions, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross. In the closing months of the war in Europe he participated in Operation Manna, dropping food over occupied Holland (with German permission) to feed starving civilians.
In April 1946 he was training pilots as a member of the training branch of the RAF, the Volunteer Reserve. He was severely injured when a student crashed a plane. Boyd required several months to recover and never piloted again. However, he had a distinguished career in the international commercial aviation industry.
Boyd spoke at the Great British Fly-In about his experience flying Lancasters.
In 1918, Great Britain’s Royal Air Force (RAF) was founded, making it the first independent air force in the world. To celebrate the RAF’s 100th anniversary, the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum hosted The Great British Fly-In at its the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia. The event included historic and modern aircraft and other vehicles, reenactors, lectures, and performances. Not all aircraft planned for the event were able to participate. Planes that did participate included a Lancaster, a B-25 Mitchell, and a Boeing P-8 Poseidon.

The three stages are from left to right: Jerrick when he was 6-7, Teenager/Young Adult Jerrick in the military, and finally Bloodfall.
I used a diffused flash from the front-left and a second one behind a white fabric backdrop to softly light the background.
The colored liquid was a mix of shower gel and SketchINK — thick enough to hold its shape before falling.
I applied it drop by drop with a pipette, waiting for that perfect moment right before the drop detached.
That split second made all the difference.
Lately I've taken an interest into cheaper and nicer shaving. This photo shows my progress and evolution of shaving. Read the notes for more info on the various attributes. It's ironic that Gillette invented the double edge safety razor in 1901, but now they're not a part of the proper manual shaving scene anymore. Gillette is the dominant marketleader in very expensive multi-blade razors. I also don't like the non-recyclability of the plastic handles compared to the more environmentally friendly disposable double edge razors made from metal.

This piece of sculpture (and fountain) is found in the main square in Härnösand. The piece in the foreground is only one part of the artwork. If you look between the buildings you can see another black granite block, and beyond that a third. These three make up the work “Evolution”.
The building wrapped up like a Christo artwork is the Governor’s residence (think Lord Mayor of the county) which is currently undergoing exterior renovation.
Evolution - Let there be Light. Licht, veel licht was er zeker! Wat een mooie licht- en lasershow. Dat maakt het werk voor partyfotografen leuk en uitdagend :) Behalve mooi licht, werd er ook nog eens top gedraaid. Held van de avond voor mij was toch zeker wel Markus Schulz. Het was voor mij wel even wennen de weg die Tiesto in slaat. Je kunt het mooi vinden of niet, hij blijft zichzelf vernieuwen. Dat was aan de set bij Evolution ook goed te horen. En dat is zeker knap als je al zolang meegaat als Tijs. Al met al een topweekend, met eerst Reloaded..... Dance into the Future en daarna Evolution - Let there be Light. Thx. Radio 538 voor de uitstekende organisatie. Hopelijk krijgt dit initiatief een vervolg volgend jaar.

Technology is an amazing thing, especially considering its evolution. Today we have laptops, digital cameras, cell phones, and digital music players. And every day I have these items in my backpack, but are they all really necessary? Or are they only necessary because of what we have evolved them into? I wonder what Darwin would say about this technological evolution!
