The first time I have seen an MCV Evolution on the 516, as Buses Excetera J14 (J14 ETC, ex-AE56 MDO) runs through Ashtead for Epsom and Kiln Lane Sainsbury's.
Not the first time it's happened though - even Countryliner had the odd MCV escape onto the route (well, at least once!).
Talking of Ashtead, the long running battle of Residents vs. Tesco has now ended, with Tesco's planned store for the village being one of the ones they've recently announced they're now not going to press on with.

Direct Rail Services Class 68 no 68001 "Evolution",first member of the class leads the 1820 Aberdeen Craiginches-Grangemouth DRS service out of Craiginches Yard.
An order for 7 more members of the class was recently confirmed, their should be 32 in all soon enough.

Thought leaders for the EV industry talked about the importance of all us little people getting the word out about the EV revolution. Bottom line: Get over range anxiety! Most people don't travel far enough per day to worry about not finding a charging station to charge their battery. That one time a year you go to Tahoe? Rent a hybrid SUV, until the infrastructure gets here (and it will soon...)

The Evolution Series is a line of diesel locomotives built by GE Transportation Systems (now owned by Wabtec), initially designed to meet the U.S. EPA's Tier 2 locomotive emissions standards that took effect in 2005. The first pre-production units were built in 2003. Evolution Series locomotives are equipped with either AC or DC traction motors, depending on the customer's preference. All are powered by the GE GEVO engine. Precision railroading or precision scheduled railroading (PSR) is a concept in freight railroad operations pioneered by E. Hunter Harrison in 1993, and adopted by nearly every North American Class I railroad (except BNSF). It shifts the focus from older practices, such as unit trains, hub and spoke operations and individual car switching at hump yards, to emphasize point-to-point freight car movements on simplified routing networks. Under PSR, freight trains operate on fixed schedules, much like passenger trains, instead of being dispatched whenever a sufficient number of loaded cars are available. In the past, container trains and general merchandise trains operated separately; under PSR they are combined as needed. Inventories of freight cars and locomotives are reduced and fewer workers are employed for a given level of traffic. The result is often substantial improvement in railroad operating ratios, and other financial and operating metrics, at the cost of criticism of poorer service and long-term capacity issues.
