R-Evolution from: San Francisco, CA year: 2015
Constructed of steel rod and balls and covered in stainless steel mesh, with LED lighting effects, R-Evolution is a 48 foot tall sculpture of a woman, Deja Solis, standing firmly with both feet on the ground, eyes closed, arms open at her sides, palms forward, a peaceful expression- present.
The culmination of The Bliss Project, a series of three monumental sculptures of a woman, Deja Solis, expressing her humanity, R-Evolution like Bliss Dance and Truth is Beauty, is intended to demand a change in perspective… to be a catalyst for social change. She is intended to challenge the viewer to see past the sexual charge that has developed around the female body which has been used for power and control, to the human being. We hope to inspire men and women to take action to end violence against women, making room for women’s voices, thus allowing both women and men to live fully and thrive. URL: www.blissdance.us

How about a bit of music? KoRn's Evolution!
"me...
It's evolution!
Just evolution!
And I, I do not dare deny
the basic beast inside;
it's right here,
it's controlling my mind!
And why do I deserve to die?
I'm dominated by
this animal that's locked up inside!"

Creationism evolves into "intelligent" design!

The evolution of New Gotham.
First built in 2008 the city at that time contained a City Hall (beige building on left) and a modernist skyscraper. Flanked by the Twin Towers it also had an elevated railway, working traffic lights and a cable car. The cable car was removed later that year and a monorail added along with the Chrysler Building Spire (thanks to Sean Kenney and Spencer Rezkella for their respective designs).
In 2011 the Twin Towers were removed and the city took on a more cluttered appearance. The monorail came back as did a subway.
By 2014 the towers were back along with some of the Lego official modular sets. In 2015 a few custom structures took centre stage.
In 2016 the city was at its largest. The Twin Towers were the focal point of the skyline but the real impact was the cluster of art deco inspired buildings (my own personal favourite being the blue). The city was divided into two districts; Downtown and Midtown. Downtown was home to the micro scale skyscrapers. Midtown - the official minifig scale sets.
This version of the city was taken apart in early 2017 and the project was shelved. In July 2017 the city underwent some rebuilding. The Twin Towers were replaced with a single modernist skyscraper and the city moved from mostly microscale to minifig. The blue art deco building was also increased in height and the Chrysler Building took centre stage. An elevated railway now sits in the middle of the city, as it did in 2008 and there are plans to build more by the river.
This necklace is an evolution of the collaborative project with Sylvie Peraud: Elegant connections that we teach this year in different places.
After spending a while gawping at the twat who was clearly about to take a photo of him, the guy on the left decided there wasn't much he could do about it and obligingly struck a pose which made the three of them remind me of some drawing of the evolution of man (the guy on the left being the most primitive).
I wrote this book as a companion volume for a 2001 PBS television series. In 2006, it was reissued with a new introduction. It's a both a history and an introduction to evolution. I investigate the rise of complex life, the role of mass extinctions, the evolution of sex, the arms race between parasites and their hosts, and lots of other stuff. Scientific American called it "as fine a book as one will find on this subject." Amazon page.
