Circa 1688-1712 (approximately). It sits on one of the city's original cobblestone streets and is constructed of 18-inch thick pink Bermuda stone. Over the course of 300 years, this small building has survived over thirty hurricanes, two major earthquakes, two wars, snow storms, and multiple catastrophic fires. It is listed in the National Register as part of the French Quarter District and dons a plaque proudly identifying it as The Pink House.

This morning I texturized a Feb. 1979 photo of seagulls and stern of the RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. For this image, I used the Snapseed, DistressedFX Plus, and Formulas applications. The Queen Mary attraction is again in financial trouble. The current operator, Urban Commons, is in bankruptcy. This is a smaller and different version of the Wildhorse Cave shot I posted before. While I was shooting inside the cave I decided to play around with the battery powered fiber optic light wires I had. There are 5 colored wires (white, blue, red, pink, and orange) a few feet long, I just turned them on and walked around for the exposure which produces a cool light ribbon effect.
The foreground shots (6 total) are 1 minute exposures, f4, ISO 400. The sky shot is a 1 minute exposure, f4, ISO 1600 with the Skytracker turned on. Cave shots stitched with PTGui and everything edited in Photoshop/Lightroom.

Great Time on the Hobbiton Movie Set!
Did you know they are already getting geared up to make The Hobbit? And it will be a two-movie event? Cool!
It turns out that Ian Brodie, who is a fan of the site and a big HDR enthusiast, works there on the Hobbiton Tours and offered to give my family and me a private tour of everything! It was really cool to walk around the Shire and see all the various bits and pieces from the movies. They are starting to move stuff around and get ready to shoot the next Hobbit movie there sometime in the near future.
I took a lot of photos and even made a little video of how I took one of the shots. After I get back and get everything edited, I’ll get it uploaded so you can check my settings and all that good stuff!
New Print Avail – The Red and White Lighthouse
This new lighthouse print is a perfect little place was spotted in Iceland. The skies are have such a nice tone there, and they are even better with the high icy clouds. It’s such a treat to shoot there and to find wonderful things like this lighthouse that complement it so well.
