Karen had been feeling more unsure of herself ever since the prophesied day of reckoning, as predicted by QAnon, had failed to materialise. She fervently believed in the power of deposed president Donald J Trump to battle against the ‘elite satanic paedophile rings’ that she just knew must be operating covertly somewhere out there. The internet had told her so.
The funny thing was Karen was English, lived in Kent and had no bonds to America whatsoever. She did live alone with an indeterminate number of cats however. None of this was clearly any barrier to her becoming a believer though. Now, when she thinks about just about anything her thought process becomes hazy and she quickly becomes angry. Pretty much like her picture really.
Every day’s a learning day. Or so they say. I can definitely confirm this for the days I was using a palette knife to create this image. It started out as something else but ended up as Karen here. As is life.
Cheers

CAMP ZAMA, Japan - Hundreds of Soldiers, Airmen, civilians and their families from the Camp Zama community kicked off Army Birthday Week with sports, games and tournaments designed to build camaraderie and esprit de corps throughout U.S. Army Japan Command. For five days dozens of units from the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force will compete in various challenges to test their cumulative strength, speed, endurance and dexterity. From team sports, golf scrambles and swim relays to bowling tournaments, relay races and free throw competitions, the Army Birthday Week events offer a variety of team competitions and individual contests that maximize appeal across the entire sports spectrum.
The “Not in My Squad” challenge offered the most unique competition appearing in this week’s lineup. Nine representatives from Camp Zama’s Army and Air Force units endured a series of physically draining events spread along a three-mile route. The teams worked together to carry five-gallon cans of water to each event where they performed various exercises comprising hundreds of pushups, situps, pullups, tire flips and kettle bell curls. The challenge concluded with a role-play scenario that tested the teams’ cumulative knowledge about how to handle a sexual harassment incident.
A unit that wins first place in a specific event earns five points, while second and third place finishes earn three and two points respectively. Every unit that participates in an event earns one point.
As of June 15, 2016, U.S. Army Aviation Battalion maintains the lead with 35 points. The 441st Military Intelligence Battalion holds second place with 29 points and Medical Department Activity-Japan pulled into third place with 27 points. U.S. Army Japan (USARJ) remains in fourth place with 23 points. Since Monday USARJ has earned third place in the soccer tournament, second place in the "Not in My Squad" challenge, and first place in the swim relay.
On Friday, June 17, all teams will convene at the Camp Zama High School sports complex to compete to foot races and cheer on their comrades in the annual tug-of-war bout and soccer match between the JGSDF’s Central Readiness Force U.S. service members stationed Camp Zama.

Every year, all over the world, Bhakti Marga bhaktas devote the day of Gurupurnima to acknowledge, praise and thank our Gurudev. Normally a day packed with activities, this year it was especially full at Shree Peetha Nilaya: the celebrations spanned over three entire days, with over 1200 devotees in attendance!
The days of events included Pada Puja, a Bhajan Mala of 108 bhajans, Pada Abhishek to Gurudev's feet, a satsang on the Guru-disciple relationship, a heart-opening meditation led by Gurudev Himself, and, of course, bhajan singing until late. There was a Maha Abhishekam, a BM Academy course on Sharanagati, a talk about silencing the mind, a 108 yagnas event, and a picnic under the stars all together. All in all, a great way to celebrate our beloved Gurudev.

Every year the day before the actual National Puerto Rican Day Parade on 5th Ave in New York City, there's pre-celebrations where more than 100,000 people show up in East Harlem for the annual 116th Street Festival.
Organizers call it the largest Latin Street festival in the Northeast, with 20 blocks of food, music, games and exhibits. I attended for the first time this year where I enjoyed the atmosphere and dedicated most of my time to asking attendees for a moment of their time to take a portrait.

Every feature in Dublin has a story and this new bridge is no different.
Anne Devlin (1780 – September 1, 1851) was an Irish republican famous for her involvement with the United Irishmen, and enduring terrible conditions, as well as torture, when imprisoned by the British authorities. She acted as housekeeper to Robert Emmet and who was also a cousin of two leading United Irish rebels, Michael Dwyer and Arthur Devlin.
The Anne [Ann] Devlin Bridge was opened in 2004 and it is near the bend in the Grand Canal, adjacent to Suir Road Bridge, Inchicore.
The name should be Anne and not Ann as spelled on the bronze plaque. There are very few bridges in Dublin named in honour of females and this is one of them [the other is Rosie Hackett].
Unfortunately the area under the Anne Devlin Bridge is “notorious” for drinking and drug taking and a number of people have died in recent years.

We have visited this small colony every time we visit Mt Kinabalu and we were pleasantly surprised to see flowering sized plants as most of the plants had been stolen by orchid thieves when we last visited 2 years before. It is always a magic site to see Paphs in flower in the wild.

In Every Lifetime I Will Find You by: Michael Benisty, Love and Unity from: Brooklyn, NY year: 2018

I would imagine almost every photographer in Melbourne has a picture similar to this. For those further afield, this row of bathing boxes were first constructed over a century ago along the beach in the Melbourne suburb of Brighton. I don't know that they were all so colourfully adorned back then, but now I beleive there is local regulation to preserve their current structure and decoration.
Maasvlakte 2 Rotterdam, The Netherlands
With Maasvlakte 2, the ambition of the Port of Rotterdam Authority is to be a global leader in the field of sustainability. To achieve this ambition, the Port of Rotterdam Authority offers every opportunity to innovative technologies that lead to the sustainable and successful development of the new port and industrial area.
The Port Authority has a long tradition in applying advanced technologies and processes, of which there are ample examples in the current port, including the Euromax-terminal and the innovative communication system Portbase. For Maasvlakte 2, we have raised the bar even higher. We want the new port and industrial area to become the most sustainable and innovative port in the world. Not an unrealistic ambition for a port that has literally been recovered from the sea and where sustainability and innovation can be built into each component.
The Port Authority has set strict requirements in terms of sustainability for companies wishing to locate on Maasvlakte 2. The Port Authority makes clear agreements with the companies about air quality, noise and cleaner hinterland transport, but also about the efficient use (or reuse) of energy, each other's waste heat, waste materials and semi-manufactured products. Companies also recognise the need to tackle environmental problems and seek new forms of sustainable management. In addition, they see opportunities to increase their efficiency. As a result, Maasvlakte 2 is a showcase which demonstrates that sustainability and economic growth are perfectly compatible.
The container terminals on Maasvlakte 2 are the most modern and advanced terminals in the world. The terminals are fully electric, from the Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) to the quay cranes. The terminal of APM Terminals runs entirely on power generated by wind turbines. At Rotterdam World Gateway, buildings are equipped with thermal storage. The connection with the Betuwe Route has also been taken into consideration: the terminals are ready for the new division of the hinterland transport across the most sustainable transport modes. One of these transport modes is inland shipping, which is why the new terminals are the first with a quay specifically designed for inland vessels.
From Rotterdam, most containers are transported to their destination by truck. This puts considerable pressure on the motorways around Rotterdam and elsewhere. Furthermore, emissions from trucks reduce the air quality. The way transportation to the hinterland is divided between the various transport modes is called the modal split. Through a variety of projects, the Port Authority aims to increase the transport of containers by rail and inland shipping. This redirecting of transport from trucks to trains and inland vessels is called the modal shift. Companies that are allowed to locate on Maasvlakte 2 commit themselves to the imposed modal shift.
An 80-hectare site has been reserved on Maasvlakte 2 to accommodate biochemistry companies. Chemicals based on natural raw materials will be produced here in the future. At the bio-based cluster on Maasvlakte 2, companies can optimally benefit from each other's presence. Together with four partners, the Port Authority is realising Plug & Play facilities in the Bio-based Cluster. Thanks to this initiative, companies do not need to invest individually in the supply of energy, energy networks, tank storage and wastewater, process water and drinking water.
wow.wow.WOW.how do i even describe the day.
amazing?
i hate that i can't even find a word more eloquent then "amazing", but seriously i doubt their is even a word to describe the utter ecstasy that surrounded me throughout the day.
first of all
-photo pass
yeah i got a photo pass for warped.which i was keeping a secret from basically everyone except Brady & my parents. I found out after my grad dinner and happy danced for about an hour. Really didn't think i was going to get it but strangely enough i did.
-worked the Jac Vanek tent w/Jac,Nicole,Brady,Stace, & a few other girls throughout the day.It was so sweet that Nicole & Jac actually remembered us.
-at some point, Nicole handed me a Vendor bracelet which entitled me to
1.)side stage
2.)catering
3.)lounge
CRAZY.i know
-got to photograph 1 of my favourite bands ever, some bands i would never have seen otherwise, and a band ive loved since middle school.
-got to have a good conversation w/the lead singer of my 3rd favourite band and was informed that they will be coming back to Canada in the fall but not to tell anyone. Can't say who he is or who his band is coming with but GAHHH so stoked.
-loads of free stuff from Jac tent
-met loads of new people including some sweet other photographers(thank god someone to talk to), some other merch guys ;) , was told "i love you" while hugging someone ive never met, and had an awkward conversation side-stage with a certain former....something.
regardless of the crazy things, good and bad (rain; missing hey monday, not a ton of good bands) it was the experience of a lifetime and the horrible back pain from not sitting down more than 5 minutes, drinking or eating all day or arm pains from holding my camera were completely worth it :)Heres hoping that my 3rd year of warped will be more amazing then my first 2 (doubt it!)
Thank you Warped Tour 2010 for being the best day of my year!!
fact #46: my dad comes with me to almost every concert, not because he is worried about me but because he loves the music. His favourite bands are Family Force Five,Less Than Jake, All Time Low & Anarbor.
... go by the Jefferson Memorial, I'm hoping to see a statue of Sherman Hemsley inside. It'd be much mor entertaining and picture worthy.
