365days #089

30.03.2010

the first 3 months of the year are over. and i'm also changing job and city so it's a great time to make a self-evaluation of the 365days project so far...

first- why did i started it? i missed the rush of coming up with different pics everyday. but doing the same thing again wasn't going to do it for me, so when i decided to start again i came up with a few ideas that meant added value and that i would be doing a more awesome 365.

those ideas basically meant sharing stuff with you flickr people: tutorials, sketches of the ideas or related and videos. i meant to post at least a short video a week and a big one once a month where i would interview one people from flickr and do silly stuff (wich would have to be posted on youtube). but 3 months passed and the truth is i've shared a tutorial and nothing else. wich is somewhat disappointing not to mention i'm posting this almost a month behind...

so why am i sharing this with you? because i haven't given up on these ideas and now you know :-D

I produced 6 sketchbooks in total for my Final Major Project - each for a different purpose, including artist research, production planning, theory and evaluation. In addition to these sketchbooks I also produced a photo book, a short film and built an installation in which the film was shown.

During annual training in May 2016 Soldiers from Bravo Battery, 1st Battalion, 143rd Field Artillery Regiment, based out Ventura and Santa Maria, of the California Army National Guard, conducted a platoon defense lanes training on the recently scorched earth of Camp Roberts. Their task was to set up their guns and begin fire missions while defending their position against active duty Soldiers from 4-17th Infantry out of Fort Bliss acting as enemy combatants. Strykers from the same infantry unit supported the National Guard unit in defense. Approx. 30 troops, including 1st Lt. Bloom, Sgt. 1st Class Phillips and Bailes quickly positioned their men and fought off the enemy until the call came to uproot their guns and move out. Video evaluation personnel from Fort Hunter Liggett and skill set subject-matter-experts from First Army were on-hand to grade the units performance as part of the much larger XCTC operation commanded by the battery's higher headquarters, the 79th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. Gharials are named for the bulbous structure on the tip of the snout in adult males. The word gharial is derived from the Hindi word, "ghara," which means, "mud pot." The gharial is the most long-snouted and together with the saltwater crocodile the largest of the living crocodilians.
