Servidor de un puerto serie RS-485 a través de Ethernet de forma remota utilizando los protocolos TCP/IP o UDP/IP. Se trata de un dispositivo compacto y robusto montado en carcasa metálica que dispone de conector RJ45 hembra (ethernet 10/100 Mbps) y de conector serie DB9 macho (serie RS-485). Para acceder al puerto serie a través de LAN basta con instalar el contrlador suministrado y Windows crea un puerto serie virtual en el ordenador. Tambien es posible interconectar dos servidores serie entre ellos a través de LAN (modo pareado).

Other than cards for VME, this is the largest 10Mbps ethernet adapter I have ever seen. It was probably hot shit at the time: it has an actual 186 CPU on it (in 1989 that was still a big deal too). Quite likely this board ran an entire IPX stack, offloading the protocol work from your NetWare file servers.
I'm tossing most of my arcane computer parts collection, but this one's a keeper. (At least until I can find someone else to archive things like this. By which I mean unload all my pre-Internet computer crap onto.)

I got it into my head to upload some of the silly pictures I made for letters columns.
(No, the wires aren't actually connected, though I did heatshrink 'em. A standard Etherkiller would do a much better job, anyway.)
Not shown: Solar Charger Shield (from Seeed Studio) and RS-232 Electronic Brick module. The former arrived on 1/21 and who knows when the latter will arrive. Already hacked up one of the chargers to get the Solar Shield running off the solar panel and Li-Ion battery; it works spectacularly well.
Some of this came from Sparkfun Free Day, some was paid by Palm's generous early-developer gift certificate at Christmas, and the rest came very cheaply because I'm a frugal bastard.
