EtchyMon interpretation of a new acquisition seen at the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Art

The drawing was placed under a fairly thick sheet of acetate and lines etched into it with an etching needle. Printing ink was scraped over the plate and then wiped off ensuring all the lines were filled. A little was left in places to give some backgound colour. The plate was then put through a press.

The back of this one was crosshatched more intensively to make the tone darker.

I made this for my brother and sis-in-law's housewarming present using the beautiful Etchings collection by 3 sisters for Moda and the MIssouri quilts company's "double Slice" pattern. Why are 3 Sisters fabrics so much softer than anyone else's? I found it hard to stop snuggling it!
