Laser etched and cut business cards

A whale named Etch-a-sketch just finished feeding and is seen snaking.

We have been getting hit with lots of snow, nothing new here in western Pa. As soon as I got home from town tonight I ran out with my camera and this was the first time I ever tried to shoot snow close up. Big fluffy flakes were falling and I had the outside light on. There is about 6 inches of snow on my deck. You can see the layers of flakes. Since the photo had a yellowish tint ( wrong lighting ) I decided to make this black and white. I think it turned ok, for my first time.

Looks like 14W is the magic number, but multiple passes may be necessary to clean up the rough edges. Bidirectional etch will probably help too at the penalty of slight over-etch and thin line degradation.

Interesting the note that the etch went from top to bottom, and thus the laser is better at turning off quickly than turning on quickly. Which actually makes a lot of sense!

Want the glamour of a chandelier without the space and the cost? Voila: this little glass pendant lamp. Would really up the glamour factor in a bathroom or dressing area.

So, I had surgery on my arm Monday, and I've had the incredible luck of practically no pain whatsoever, but I'm still hesitant to pull down my ginormous dye stash. So, instead, I played with etching. My first two The Works eggs, the star was done within 24 hours of surgery. Not bad for a gimp!
