"Ain't but three things in this world
that's worth a solitary dime
But old dogs
and children
and watermelon wine"
- - Lyrics from "Watermelon Wine" by Tom T. Hall
I went out yesterday afternoon not expecting much since it was cold, gray, and the light was quite flat; but I'd had more than a bellyful of dismal news (COVID stats, hypocritical politicians, bellicose egomaniacs, etc, etc) and just needed to come up for air. Lucky me...I stumbled across this photogenic duo and came away with this casual portrait. The young lady was as friendly as could be while her guardian was, well, a little concerned over what I was doing. : )) But this chance encounter was just the spirit lift I needed, and it reminded me of the truth in those lyrics. I hope you'll get a grin from this.

E poi vogliamo mettere?
L’acqua come specchio, quindi. Come in cielo, così è in terra.

All comments regarding this picture, subject, composition, etc are welcome and appreciated. TIA.

When people think of New York, they usually think of New York City and its crime, crowds, homeless, etc.. The State of New York is so much more than that. Upstate New York in particular has wonderful State Parks, hiking trails, many beautiful waterfalls and spectacular displays of fall colors when the trees change.
Yeah, typical tourist picture since I have never been there and we were just doing a photoshoot at the base of it. Soon i want to hike it....looks like a lot of fun!

:). Saludos.
"Alps on Ice"
There has been very little time processing and uploading pictures the latest days due to very hectic activity.
Here's one I shot on March 7th. It was cloudy in most parts of Scandinavia, but managed to find an opening at this epic location stanind on crystal clear ice. The mountains in the background are "Siedde" raging 1km up into the sky, and the other top to the right is "Piggtinden" about the same height. About full moon lightning up the surroundings from the right.
This sequence will definitely be featuring in my new aurora video.

Today at Crazy Tuesday Group the theme is: tools. Since it is an orange day At Color My World Daily Group, the color for today is orange… And of course, my tiny Mr. Teddy Bear is here since it is a Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday!! So orange tools and Teddy Bear day! How cool is that.
And who is a constant need of tools (of every sizes and shapes) and happens to be a huge fan of orange color? Mr. Kosmo himself!
Tools are truly important in space. You need them to open a bottle of wine, scratch your back, comb your hair before putting your helmet on or just to repair your spaceship. And since Mr. Kosmo is now a new proud owner of red space rocket bought on ebay, he needs his tools! Indeed, the red rocket was slightly used when he got it… and a little bit beaten up (more than specified in the ebay description!). Let just say that this red rocket needs a lot of TLC before going anywhere… But Mr.Kosmo is thrilled: for the second time in his life he feels like a real astronaut !! The first time he got that feeling was when he received his orange suit and put it on for the very first time…
Mr. Kosmo isn’t a handy man (but he is truly handsome under his helmet... so he doesn’t need to be handy...or that is what he likes to think) …. That is why he invited his friend Mr. Teddy Bear who has a very successful construction company. Mr. Teddy Bear isn’t handsome but he is truly handy, so this makes him quite a catch for the opposite sex! Ladies, Mr.Teddy Bear is able to repair anything ! Give him an axe, some scotch tape and a screw driver and he will build a you plane or a spaceship !
Of course, since there is no gravity in space, it is very important to keep everything, including your tools and yourself, glued to the ground. And then the reparation of the red space rocket can begin. Good luck Mr. Kosmo and Mr.Teddy Bear !!!
Have a beautiful orange, tools, teddy bear day!!! Happy Crazy Tuesday, Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday and Color My World Daily to all participants!!
Thank you so much for your support!!! I truly appreciate your positive energy!! I wish you a very happy and awesome day!!!

getting sick lately? i spent nye and day, yesterday and today down with something. i think it's the salmonella outbreak going around.
and when i get sick, i get my migraines too. the only part of the experience worth repeating is the hallucinatory half-wake/dream states. wow. i could make some money in hollywood with these blockbuster horrors ...
remind me to tell you sometime about discovering i'm really an alien named "tig" from the planet "xalene" on earth to take different human forms for observation purposes. and how i found my way back "home" by the galaxy-wide night-sky painting that said "tig, this way to xalene" with arrows pointing the way ...
or the one about my self-determined walking tour of cambodia, the tourist traps and the bombing of the temples (both frightening each in their own) ...
or last night's not-so-mellow-drama whereby my best friend from SF was kidnapped, tortured, held for ransom while i tried to get the police involved but they wouldn't believe me because he was gay and the kidnappers were black and so it was an obvious case of me being a drama-queen and racist ...
or the other one last night where i went insane and couldn't communicate this to my 2 sisters who were getting married to each other that day, and the whole family thought i was just trying to ruin their special day while inside i was screaming in terror at what was happening to me, but all they could see was me looking freaked-out or acting like i was depressed ...
(no it wasn't mushrooms that made me sick.)
time to shut-down all circuits again. dearth of stimuli, here i come!
" Is my head back on straight ? "
They are a nuisance at times in the house or picnics etc and have some dirty habits up to and including how they eat however it must be said that personal cleanliness wise they are fastidious in their attention to detail.
These flies looked lovely reflecting the sun as they basked on the leaves in my garden today so I took a few shots and I had to laugh when I saw this one who looked as if he was trying to re attach his head.
Every moving part of their body that they can reach is groomed with meticulous detail to keep it in perfect working order.
...I did two pages for this one..he he..mainly cuz I took lotsa pictures and also because I love the Audrey Neal collection...he he..=)
This one says: "Many of One, my moderate 'collections' are a plenty"....and then "I don't collect anything on purpose, but I noticed that I tend to accumulate a lot of what I love oh so much." he he....books, coats, movies...etc.
Fun challenge, Ashley!

The hoopoe is unique for its rufous plumage and large, often ruffled (photo), orange feathers with black tips.
This insectivore captures its prey by foraging in the ground with its long, curved beak, enabling it to detect prey without seeing it (insect larvae, crickets, earthworms, etc.). It needs insects in abundance, and its presence is a sign of good ecological health.
In winter, European hoopoes migrate to Africa.
