A camera toss series. I hadn't done any of these in a long time and thought it good to revisit the bare essentials considering it was a camera I had not used for the technique yet. A single white LED provides the light source, exposures vary from .7sec to 2sec. What is produced is essentially an inverted physiogram (inverted in that it illustrates camera motion rather than subject motion) and can tell you alot about the movement possible with a given model of camera.

I also had been meaning to do this simplistic series for a while, because I feel achieving something aesthetically wonderful does not require an overly complicate light source, the beauty is ultimately due to the motion.

All images in this series are directly from my Kodak Easyshare 3.1mp camera, no hotoshop, no cropping or manipulation other than image rotation.

Water is essential in our daily lives. But when it covers the windows it makes it difficult to document our travels. This was taken while we were visiting the Pacific Northwest somewhere near the Olympic National Forest.

Now I've had my eye surgery it's imperative that I wear good quality sunglasses that block all UVA and UVB light, plus I wanted shatterproof lenses. I've never bought sunglasses before and I was amazed at some of the ridiculous prices for the designer brands - and the cheaper end of the market seemed just that, 'cheap' and made with poor quality materials.

Quite by chance I came across 'Sunwise', a British company with a huge range of styles, their prices vary but start at a very resonable level.

Studio 26 flash assignment. Straightforward use of flash, the speedlight with a small softbox on was positioned behind the light tent and set on manual, 1/2 power.

The 6/11/18 topic for Macro Mondays is Hand Tool, and while the small piece of this tool shown here is probably unrecognizable to most, it is a tool that I used a lot back in my woodworking days, 30 or more years ago. It is a 2¾ inch portion of a spoke shave (see the whole thing in the first comment). I could never stand a straight line and was always shaving off the edges in order to create more flowing, sculptured lines, and this spoke shave saw a lot of action. Unfortunately, after a few decades rattling around in the back of my tool drawer, it's looking pretty battered now, but in its time, it served me well.

On June 22nd, our county town of Dorchester will witness a spectacular historic event, as over one hundred military vehicles from World War II make their way through the streets! This military convoy is more than just a parade of vintage machines, but also a living tribute to the brave soldiers, men and women, who fought and sacrificed during the D-Day landings 80 years ago.

Critical infrastructure

Outfit photos on my blog will continue for the foreseeable future as I work in emergency services and continue to get dressed and go to work.

Expect this background for my outfit-of-the-day photos for the next few weeks. Although I comply with the stay-at-home order during my personal time, my work time requires me to go to the office to complete essential business.

ODC-Smelly

This has a very strong and distinctive smell that is hard to describe. Read the tags for a complete list of the oils in this, they are quite smelly! We don't want to put any chemicals on Shizandra. So we put this on her before taking her outside.
