Mac & cheese and ranch dressing...what would we do without 'em? 😜
Shortly after Daisy agreed to go nearly full time (Exactly one month ago today...wow!), I decided she needed some kind of daily exposure to help her keep her eye on the ball so to speak. So I've been sending her to the store just about every day for little odds and ends that I might otherwise combine into one weekly or bi weekly trip. And that includes weekends as well. So even though these things weren't essential for dinner....they were essential for Daisy's continued development. In my not so humble opinion, anyway. 😉💖

We used to always have some hand cleanser at home but now it appears that we continually wash our hands followed by hand gel.
Oh, how times have changed but nowadays it has become more essential!

to find your way through a clouded mind, you should search your sunny side up
Before hitting the trail I hoisted up my backapck and wondered why it was so heavy....then I ran through a list of the "non-essentail" items in my head. Bottle of whiskey, bag of wine for Sarah, cribbage board, two cameras, film backs, tripod.....are any of these things essential to a good backpacking trip? Maybe not....but they always find their way into my bag.

Water... the most essential. This is a blade of grass from yesterday morning's sprinkler--if I had waited till this morning, I would have had real rain drops! Real rain in Southern California in July!! Unheard of!
Taken with Canon 7D and Canon EF 100mm f/2.8. I masked the two drops in CS5 and changed its color with an orange filter set to 100%. On another layer I desaturated the rest to black and white. Prior to all this I used LR3 to selectively darken the exposure over the back of the grass blade and to sharpen and increase contrast on the two water drops.
Today was my birthday so I got myself a little something. You can't not have a 50mm! I chose the f/1.8 over the f/1.4 obviously for the price difference but also for build reasons and somewhat for image quality. There's just something off about the f/1.4 to me.
But anyway, I had a fantastic and eventful birthday!

In these days of lockdown, the railroad never sleeps. That’s why it was essential for me to catch L243 with WSOR 3869; one of only a few Geeps left in the old Wizzor paint. K3LA blaring, 243 rolls through Thiensville, past what I can only assume is an old team track.

Probably my fave JET SET doll =) IT did a wonderfull work on her
(it sucks that her shoes are plastic, but it has been said this is a "basic" collection, so I do understand the plastic shoes, in order to keep the price range acceptable...)
Girls and Children's department. Note the carpeting leftover from Sears Essentials, and the white and red department signage. I haven't seen this signage in any other Kmart stores except those which were converted from Sears Essentials.
------------------
The Kmart of Parsippany opened in 1998 and was a flagship Big Kmart store for the company. It was one of the company's first Big Kmart stores, and the store was featured on the commercial which launched the Big Kmart concept nationwide.
In the commercial, a blue tarp is being removed from the sign as the Big Kmart jingle is played "There's a new old friend in the same old place, with a brand new name and a brand new face". A mock parade was even staged in nearby Boonton, NJ with Kathy Ireland jogging down the main street and Martha Stewart driving an 18-wheeler. Scenes of Bob Hope eating breakfast were filmed at the local Boonton Diner.
The 120,000 sq. ft. Big Kmart store replaced a former Kmart one mile up the highway, which had originally been a J.M. Fields. In 2005, the store was re-bannered as Sears Essentials. New Sears carpeting, separate dressing rooms for men and women, and better-quality Sears fixtures were installed as part of the conversion. Unfortunately, many departments were poorly merchandised and shoppers encountered lots of empty shelf space in the huge store. To top it off, Eddie Lampert and his crew raised prices. The previously proud and busy Kmart quickly became a place people avoided and the store was often deserted.
In 2010, the company admitted defeat on the concept and after a 2-day liquidation, the store reverted back to Kmart. Most of the Sears fixtures were left in place but the store did receive a very seldom seen and short-lived Kmart interior package with red and white department signage featuring pictures of people.
Update (August, 2017): Sears announced that this store will close by the end of 2017.
