... a bit of light and luck during a cold afternoon walk ...

Happy thanksgiving .... and thank you all so very much!

At the Jingxing Bird and Flower Market in Kunming, the capital of the Chinese province Yunnan

Bird and flower markets exist in every Chinese city and have a long tradition. They are in fact pet and flower markets, as you can also buy aquarium fish, turtles, puppies and kittens there.

However, I wonder if it is good for turtles to live with humans.

I drove to the lake the other evening to take a little break from the crowd at my house, and caught a pretty sunset. Explore #259 Aug.17/08, # 163 Aug 18...

Paleo-futurism meets the ever-changing sky.

Just before the lights came on in early evening, I caught the moon looking as if it had just escaped the streetlamp.

Good morning and Happy Hug a Bug Day to everyone. Just a single posting of a Ladybug I spotted on a Saguaro Cactus we keep on the patio during the summer. The cactus made for an interesting setting for this cute little beetle and I liked the contrast in colors. And so you'll know, the beetle was able to eventually escape unhurt from the spiney confines of the cactus.

I'll be amongst the missing most of the day here on flickr so please bear with my lack of response to comments and visits today. Thank you...and I hope you have a truly great day.

Thunderstorms were a dime a dozen yesterday afternoon, but this cloud mass over the Illawarra Coast south of Sydney didn't live up to its potential. I doubt many people were disappointed.

A Snowy Egret flees a contentious situation.

I took the title for this from the second part of Graham Greene's autobiography - though I think I prefer Tim's suggestion below, 'The Great Escape'!

The Finnish people love the outdoors and it's where they escape their day-to-day lives. Charlie Waite talked recently about people having a 'Nature Deficiency Disorder' through becoming disconnected with nature. I don't imagine that the Finns I met could even comprehend this as a possibility. This is Kaukajärvi, one of many lakes near Tampere, Finland.

Continuing to address and worry about climate change and the many forest fires we are having here in the USA and in this work, particularly worrying about our beautiful wildlife. Hoping and praying that we can address the situation head on and start, better late than never, to make a

positive difference.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

A sweet little Iris Reticulata in the morning light at the Lyman Conservatory earlier today. "Titan," the latest named snow storm to roar across the U. S., stayed south of us last night and we didn't get any snow at all. Sorry for all of you who were buried with snow and ice, but thrilled for our "great escape!"
