My first trial and error in long exposure capturing water flowing. No tripod as my plan for the day was Jervaulex Abbey (love that place), so rocks, stone walls, flowers and other non-moving objects. However, after deciding to take the looooong route home i came upon this little river and decide to try my luck.
So handheld with only rocks and branches to support I gave it my best shot!

The Snowdrop / Snöklockan, bronze sculpture (1900) by Per Hasselberg (1850-1894)
Snöklockan, as the sculptor himself named the statue, seems to be an error on his part. The original French name is La Perce-Neige, which in Swedish is Snödroppen, in English The snowdrop and in Latin Galanthus nivalis . At the girl’s foot is also a small snowdrop.
Snöklockan (French: La Perce-Neige) is a sculpture of a standing female figure, made of plaster by Per Hasselberg in 1881.
A sixteen-year-old Italian girl stood model, picturing a young, innocent girl taking the leap from childhood to womanhood. At her feet grows a snowdrop, which Hasselberg first - erroneously - called "Snöskatan" and later - also erroneously - "Snöklockan".
Snöklockan was accepted to the 1881 Paris Salon and as the only Swedish artwork was awarded with an honorable mention, which meant Per Hasselberg’s definitive breakthrough as an artist.
Nationalmuseum in Stockholm ordered the work in marble in 1883 at a price of SEK 6,000, and it was awarded the gold medal at the 1883 Salon.
The work reached great popularity and was widely distributed in both the public and private contexts, in the form of replicas, reductions and reproductions. The sculpture was cast in bronze for Mariatorget in Stockholm, inaugurated in November 1900, donated by Director CR Lamb of Ludvigsberg. This was the city's first sculpture erected purely as a work of art and not to honor any famous person.

Sculptor Per Hasselberg has described how he got the idea for the sculpture when on a spring day he was walking along the River Seine in Paris, and caught sight of a snowdrop:
"At that moment the statue stood alive for me. It would symbolize the first spring awakening in the image of a young girl about to wake up from a sweet dream."
He said about the sculpture:
"There shall be a fold of the petals [the ribbon], which still remains, and is precisely the symbolic relationship between the sprouting flower and the evolving maiden body."
With Snöklockan, Hasselberg uses a proven metaphor for female sexuality, bud / flower. At the same time, he creates a parallel between nature's awakening - spring - and the young girl's body's sexual awakening. Snöklockan becomes an image of the dawn of love by a girl's blossoming sexuality.

Med Snöklockan använder Hasselberg en väl beprövad metafor för den kvinnliga sexualiteten, knoppen/blomman. Samtidigt skapar han med snödroppen en parallell mellan naturens uppvaknande - våren - och den unga flickkroppens sexuella uppvaknande. Snöklockan blir en bild av kärlekslivets gryning genom en flickas blomstrande kärleksdrift.

I headed over to the beach after work on Tuesday because the sky was looking interesting. I pulled out my camera just before this moment and I got an message on my Canon screen that said "Error 20." I couldn't get it to take a picture and I was so frustrated. This is an unedited photo with my iPhone. $470 later my camera will be ready for pick up on Monday.
Well, the last few nights had seen SOR 597 running early enough for late evening shots at Caledonia on the bridge.
Getting a "free pass" tonight from my gf allowed me a couple hours to wait out the train.
Unfortunately they did not show before I had totally run out of light. But this was the shot I intended to do with RLHH 3049 on the point of the Brantford bound train.
Sometimes in this hobby you've got to take a risk and hope it works, I didn't see the train but I got this photo and spent the evening catching up with an old friend. Not a loss in my books.
