With the soft sound of air pressure equalizing through synthetic oxygen, the door to J'onn J'onzz residents sealed shut. The room was cold and dark, the only light crept in from a thick twelve inch piece of glass. It's frame was wide, looking out into the darkness of space. The sun's light bounced off the white and blue surface of Earth, leaving J'onn's room illuminated under a faint blue glow. It was Christmas Eve, and The Green Martian couldn't feel any more alone.

He sighed, resting a red and white package on his bed, then glided slowly to the window; he gazed longingly out across the surface of the enormous blue sphere. This far above the planet, his telepathic mind was quiet. He couldn't hear a soul. In fact the only sound he could hear at all was the soft muffled humming of the main reactor on this enormous Space Station. He closed his eyes and let his mind wander back to earlier this evening. Clark was boarding the Javelin with Flash and The Green Lantern....

"I insist! Come to Smallville with me, J'onn!" Clark smiled hopefully. "It's so quiet, I swear you can hear the snowflakes touch the ground!"

However, J'onn's emotions were a mixed case of loneliness, confusion, and longing for his own Martian family. Christmas was never an easy time for him. It stood as a reminder of all he has lost in his life. All the traditions he upheld so long ago.

"I'm afraid this holiday has no meaning for me..." J'onn replied somberly but stern.

"You know you're always welcome, J'onn" Clark spoke kindly. "Oh! I almost forgot!" He stepped away for a moment, only to return with a present wrapped in red and white paper. He handed it to J'onn without hesitation, grin spread wide across his face.

"But I have nothing for you..." J'onn said discouraged.

"Nonsense! Your company is all we could ever want!" Clark smiled again, turned, and boarded The Javelin. "Enjoy your holiday, I hope you like your gift!" He said turning back, waving to him as the loading ramp sealed.

J'onzz opened his eyes suddenly, finding the glow the planet's surface unchanged, but additionally, the soft hue of primary colors flickering calmly in the corner of the room. It was a surprise to him to see a small green pine tree decorated with blinking lights inside his quarters.

A faint smile of content grew as he quietly glided over to the tree. He touched it's branches softly, it's bristles still full of life.

His attention gradually returned to the present on his bed. He smiled once again and retrieved it, taking it to the window. Piece by piece, J'onn gently removed the paper. Inside was a knitted sweater. The initials JJ were sewn into the back of the collar, and down to the the very last snowflake, the stitches were drawn with human hands.

J'onn's smile brightened. He could feel a warm joyful sensation swelling up inside his chest. It was only a piece of clothing, but the love and affection put into it filled his soul with a strange comfort. A feeling he had not felt in a very long time. As he admired this piece of fabric, an envelope with his name fell from inside it. He opened the letter as he did the gift, with care and gentle strength. It read;

"J'onn, the team and I had been thinking about how you tend to feel during this time of year. We all know what it must be like, to be around folks who have families to go home to. From the team and myself I hope you know that we will respect your solitude, but I can't promise that we won't miss you.

Thanks to Ma Kent for knitting this for you in her spare time. We couldn't let anyone stay up here by themselves without leaving a gift for them! It just wouldn't be right!

Oh and the Tree was Barry's idea! I hope it didn't startle you!

I know we may not be your true family, but I hope that we can be the next best thing.

Merry Christmas Martian Manhunter

Your friends,

Clark, Bruce, Diana, Barry, Hal, and Arthur"

This story was inspired pretty heavily by Paul Dini's Justice League episode, "Comfort and Joy”; It's one of my all time favorite episodes in the series! (they're all fantastic, but this is one of my top fives for sure!)

I don't commonly post things relating to holiday's but I don't know, this year has been total crap from the beginning; the last few months have been especially quite dire. So something struck me recently! To upload a positive “final post” for 2016. Besides, I've been Jonesing to make another Watchtower build since my last one flic.kr/p/vAkjsv really needed an upgrade!

So in a manner of speaking, this story and build just kinda came naturally. Two Birds with One Stone if you will. :)

Anyway, Patreon has a few photo's of the build, a bit more of the furniture, and a fun side-by-side comparison of pre-edit to post-edit for this image! …He's also wearing the sweater ;)

"I heard the flare gun, I'm ready to race

No I don't fear none, I'm stuck in my ways

They say I'm the chosen one, can see it in my face

Get this win and I'm holding on, I can't be replaced

I just take ship, with this bih, we don't check for the win

Celebrate the win again, celebrate the win again

Take a ship, with this bit, we don't check for the win

Celebrate the win again, celebrate the win again

Yeah the sun can't stretch me, got a brand new visor, yeah

You friends smart, but my buds‘weiser’, yeah

Get the job done like the equalizer

And now I'ma grab another drink because tonight I'm a god

I feel like I'm Michael Phelps, diving in this pool

I don't know what would help

I'm just telling you the truth

I heard the flare gun, I'm ready to race

No I don't fear none, I'm stuck in my ways

They say I'm the chosen one, can see it in my face

Get this when win and I'm holding on, I can't be replaced

I just take ship, with this bitch, we don't check for the win

Celebrate the win again, celebrate the win again

Take a ship, with this bit, we don't check for the win

Celebrate the win again, celebrate the win again

It's triumphant, bizz up, let's bump it

Don't mind me, she's in the moment

Energy up, my body burning

And my stomach keep on turning

Stop moving that I can't control it

On my last breath and I can't hold it

Gotta give it all I got, uh

This for the ones that think I'm joking

This for real, for real, lightweight bust off half a pill

Yeah, I'm sweatin' baby, must be all them happy meals

I don't know how happy feels

But damn I'm tryna find out

She say I got sex appeal, I think it's 'cause I work out

I heard the flare gun, I'm ready to race

No don't fear none, I'm stuck in my ways

They say I'm the chosen one, can see it in my face

The fog horn was wailing out at Fort Amherst, not much use going out there. I am down in The Narrows in a bit of shelter out of the spray from the waves. Quite a sea on. This is the result of clicking on Equalize in Photoshop, did a little adjustment to raise mid-tones and liked the dramatic purple hue rather than just plain old grey sky.

"Education, then, beyond all other devices of human origin, is the great equalizer of the conditions of men, — the balance-wheel of the social machinery. I do not here mean that it so elevates the moral nature as to make men disdain and abhor the oppression of their fellow-men. This idea pertains to another of its attributes. But I mean that it gives each man the independence and the means by which he can resist the selfishness of other men. It does better than to disarm the poor of their hostility towards the rich: it prevents being poor." - Horace Mann

Wat Lokaya Sutha is situated to the west of the Ayutthaya Grand Royal Palace. No evidence has been found to indicate when it was built. Only comparative study of art style of the temple mail prang reflects early period of Ayutthaya arts. Wat Wat Lokaya Sutha or Lokayasutharam is located near Wat Worapoh and Wat Worachettharam. The primary feature of this wat is the huge reclining Buddha image, Phra Budhasaiyart, located in the ruins of the viharn and facing towards the East. It was constructed of bricks and cement in the Middle Ayutthaya Period and is 42 meters long and 8 meters high. The head is resting on a lotus and the legs overlap squarely to show the equalized toes a sign of enlightenment and beauty. The image was restored in 1954 and again in 1989.

A Bhikkhuni is a fully ordained female Buddhist monastic. Buddhism is unique in that Buddha, as founder of a spiritual tradition, explicitly states in canonical literature that a woman is as capable of Nirvana (enlightenment) as a man, and can fully attain all four stages of enlightenment. Photo taken of a Bhikkhuni who mindfully offers beautiful flowers to the Reclining Buddha - Ayutthaya Historical park, Thailand.

Another update of this popular landmark in Chinatown. This time I took it from the 7th floor of a HDB block nearby. This was taken on a Sunday. Offices and the temple did not light up as much as I had hoped for. Took this shot just before darkness sets in. A night with Reggie and Souvik.

About the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum – Singapore

The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum receives more than 50,000 visitors a month! More than half of the visitors are from abroad and so the BTRTM has manifested its commitment to mutual understanding by offering a medium in which visitors can learn about Buddhist Temples (in a way that doesn’t cross the line).

pp: Not a HDR process. Again the usual "Equalize" & "Multiply" combination blending in opacity to satisfaction. Finish off with light Unsharp mask, contrast and saturate colors to desired levels.

Camera: Nikon P600, 1920x1080 (Full HD), 30frames/s, Full-time AF, AE-LOCK, Program-Auto, stabilized-NR-ed-color-balanced-graded-edited with Davinci Resolve, audio - basic NR, little equalizing to hear the slap better on picigin balls, not to strong though.

From one clip I got these 4 scenes. I am particularly proud of color balancing. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to comment. Keep in mind that you have not much of freedom since the dynamic range is really awful but hey... at least I had this camera on me, so thumbs up for doing a great job still.

Date taken: April 15,2025.

Until now, uploading videos to Flickr has felt somewhat inadequate to me, as I’ve always seen it more as a platform for still images rather than moving pictures.

Even though I enjoy shooting videos from time to time, I’ve found that most of my time spent with a camera in my hands tends to lean towards photography.

And that’s primarily because I know, in the back of my mind, that if I’m going to post something online, it will likely be on Flickr—and that automatically makes me feel like I need to shoot stills.

But today, as I was walking down to the beach, the strong Jugo wind (a southern wind) was going wild—pounding the shore, kneading the waves, and creating all kinds of acrobacies in the air.

I instantly knew: today, I’ll primarily shoot video.

First and foremost, because I enjoy the process.

Second, because today’s scenes were calm yet dramatic, and simply perfect for video—capturing something stills just can’t.

That’s what my videos will always be about—no exceptions.

Only videos that capture something stills can't.

That’s the purpose of this series and the new album I’m opening.

I’m curious to see where it takes me.

I recently attended a filmography course, and I feel like I know what I’m doing—while being careful not to slip into arrogance or self-importance.

Care about the scenery, composition, and color—these are all things I’m already mindful of when shooting stills.

So why not experiment with moving stills?

It’s just one extra word, isn’t it?

Anyway, hit the lik… fave! or leave a comment if you’ve read all the way to the end... and thank You.

I’ll eliminate sound in most videos, unless it truly needs to be there, and only if I feel like it.

If there is sound, I want it to be perfect—recorded with professional equipment and carefully edited, which I currently don’t plan to buy or do.

Maybe sometime soon, in the days to come.

So just lay back and enjoy.

My goal is to make videos we can all relax with—maybe even have it on repeat, with our own music or ambient sound in the background that suits us the most.

I don’t want to steal your full attention or be invasive on your senses. Just your eyes… because, as I’ve heard, they never lie, do they?

Jokes aside, please enjoy these scenes and try to immerse yourself, as if you’re right there.

That will be imperative #1 from me with these series.

Enjoy in video number 2.

I took this picture early morning from above Chambery, in the French Alps. I was interested in the streaks of light in the distance. I purposely under-exposed the picture, to focus the interest on the light and the clouds.

I post-processed it using the darktable software to add a more dramatic effect. The key ingredients were to increase local contrast on the horizon and the streaks of lights using the equalizer filter with clarity preset, and to add a bit of color using split toning. I was also careful to choose a crop giving a lot of importance to the horizon, and to create a bit of a vignetting effect, letting the clouds fade to dark on top of the picture.

More specifically, I used the exposure filter to fade to dark the top; equalizer filters in clarity preset and tone curves to play with lights and contrast on the horizon and in the center of the image (making sure to keep more contrast in the point of interest, ie the focal point). I used color correction to push highlights to pink and split toning to push shadows to blue and highlights to yellow. Finally, I suppressed some details from the foreground by making them even darker with an exposure filter.

Dixie Transitway, Mississauga, cool late-November evening just around sunset. Cooler moment with the equalized station lights and the sky.

- (SDF1) So I told him that it was the electro-magnetic equalizer that had failed and the stupid fleshy just stood the looking like an ugly Organic exclamation mark, Like pretending that she understood, He, He, He, those fleshies they are so useless....

- (Kriton 88) ....yeah they really think the are all that important, so how id Krrr´s butler-bot? is he still working for that drooling rich Tri-phone artist?

- ( C3p-D2) ...ha, ha no, he is working for that dull human fleshie named Miss, since she got a ruling to inherit all of her hubbies loot when he vanished without a skid-mark, oh I forgot to tell that he is gone, he just wasn´t there any longer... some say that it was his friendship with the robot known as the Art-bot who also vanished with out a trace?

- (SDF1) oh that is strange, but anyhow shall we make this a thing, every Friday we fool our Fleshie "so called masters" that we need to fix something down here, we could bring some laminated bolts and wing-nuts to chew on and I am brewing a brew hidden away in a dark corner of my master house, it is one part battery acid, one part contaminated heavy water and one part alkaline waste you should try it...

- (c3p-D2) ..yes and we could get some furniture down here and perhaps a pool table and an old VHS or Betamax system?

- (Kriton 88) ...yeah lets make this place our Friday-club...

this is a cosy place voice of stupid fleshies.... do you think it is safe? I mean do the Eco-Terrorist ever go here, are there mutant gangs or even worst is this where the pink one ever venture?

This is a shot I made with my D80 just days after I purchased it for our trip across the country. I barely knew how to use it, let alone how to use it well. I didn't have a polarizer for it, and I was basically using it as a point and shoot.

As you can see, this shot is mediocre. The landscape is nice, but the sky is uninteresting and lacks detail.

In the next step you'll see just how much of an effect the Equalize function in Photoshop can have on a photo.
