The light is the great equalizer whether gracing an opulent adobe or an abandoned, neglected structure...
Derived from the chassis of a civilian heavy hauler, the Equalizer matches its menacing looks with a battery of bombardment weaponry. Able to linger in battle for extended periods of time due to its reinforced plating, the Equalizer delivers punishing volleys against capital ships while also remaining a competent anti-frigate platform.

Most recently, I attended a very cool event - the 139th Birthday of National Research Tomsk State University (TSU). Incredible emotions, excellent playgrounds and exciting music - all of this took place within 7 hours! I got a lot of cool pictures and a ton of positive mood!
On the photo behind the decks - DJ Agresia (Tomsk).
Thanks for your faves and comments, I really appreciate them!
With the soft sound of air pressure equalizing through synthetic oxygen, the door to J'onn J'onzz residents sealed shut. The room was cold and dark, the only light crept in from a thick twelve inch piece of glass. It's frame was wide, looking out into the darkness of space. The sun's light bounced off the white and blue surface of Earth, leaving J'onn's room illuminated under a faint blue glow. It was Christmas Eve, and The Green Martian couldn't feel any more alone.
He sighed, resting a red and white package on his bed, then glided slowly to the window; he gazed longingly out across the surface of the enormous blue sphere. This far above the planet, his telepathic mind was quiet. He couldn't hear a soul. In fact the only sound he could hear at all was the soft muffled humming of the main reactor on this enormous Space Station. He closed his eyes and let his mind wander back to earlier this evening. Clark was boarding the Javelin with Flash and The Green Lantern....
"I insist! Come to Smallville with me, J'onn!" Clark smiled hopefully. "It's so quiet, I swear you can hear the snowflakes touch the ground!"
However, J'onn's emotions were a mixed case of loneliness, confusion, and longing for his own Martian family. Christmas was never an easy time for him. It stood as a reminder of all he has lost in his life. All the traditions he upheld so long ago.
"I'm afraid this holiday has no meaning for me..." J'onn replied somberly but stern.
"You know you're always welcome, J'onn" Clark spoke kindly. "Oh! I almost forgot!" He stepped away for a moment, only to return with a present wrapped in red and white paper. He handed it to J'onn without hesitation, grin spread wide across his face.
"But I have nothing for you..." J'onn said discouraged.
"Nonsense! Your company is all we could ever want!" Clark smiled again, turned, and boarded The Javelin. "Enjoy your holiday, I hope you like your gift!" He said turning back, waving to him as the loading ramp sealed.
J'onzz opened his eyes suddenly, finding the glow the planet's surface unchanged, but additionally, the soft hue of primary colors flickering calmly in the corner of the room. It was a surprise to him to see a small green pine tree decorated with blinking lights inside his quarters.
A faint smile of content grew as he quietly glided over to the tree. He touched it's branches softly, it's bristles still full of life.
His attention gradually returned to the present on his bed. He smiled once again and retrieved it, taking it to the window. Piece by piece, J'onn gently removed the paper. Inside was a knitted sweater. The initials JJ were sewn into the back of the collar, and down to the the very last snowflake, the stitches were drawn with human hands.
J'onn's smile brightened. He could feel a warm joyful sensation swelling up inside his chest. It was only a piece of clothing, but the love and affection put into it filled his soul with a strange comfort. A feeling he had not felt in a very long time. As he admired this piece of fabric, an envelope with his name fell from inside it. He opened the letter as he did the gift, with care and gentle strength. It read;
"J'onn, the team and I had been thinking about how you tend to feel during this time of year. We all know what it must be like, to be around folks who have families to go home to. From the team and myself I hope you know that we will respect your solitude, but I can't promise that we won't miss you.
Thanks to Ma Kent for knitting this for you in her spare time. We couldn't let anyone stay up here by themselves without leaving a gift for them! It just wouldn't be right!
Oh and the Tree was Barry's idea! I hope it didn't startle you!
I know we may not be your true family, but I hope that we can be the next best thing.
Merry Christmas Martian Manhunter
Your friends,
Clark, Bruce, Diana, Barry, Hal, and Arthur"

This story was inspired pretty heavily by Paul Dini's Justice League episode, "Comfort and Joy”; It's one of my all time favorite episodes in the series! (they're all fantastic, but this is one of my top fives for sure!)
I don't commonly post things relating to holiday's but I don't know, this year has been total crap from the beginning; the last few months have been especially quite dire. So something struck me recently! To upload a positive “final post” for 2016. Besides, I've been Jonesing to make another Watchtower build since my last one flic.kr/p/vAkjsv really needed an upgrade!
So in a manner of speaking, this story and build just kinda came naturally. Two Birds with One Stone if you will. :)
Anyway, Patreon has a few photo's of the build, a bit more of the furniture, and a fun side-by-side comparison of pre-edit to post-edit for this image! …He's also wearing the sweater ;)

The name is derived from medieval Latin word aequator, in the phrase circulus aequator diei et noctis, meaning ‘circle equalizing day and night’, from the Latin word aequare meaning ‘make equal’.

Mysteries from Middle Earth:
The idea of standing with one foot in each hemisphere is an intriguing one, and the closer you get to the equator, the more you hear about the equator’s mysterious energy. But what is fact and what is fiction?
There’s no point in starting softly, so let’s debunk the biggest myth first: La Mitad del Mundo is not on the equator – but it’s close. Global Positioning System (GPS) devices show that it’s only about 240m off the mark. And no one who sees the photos of you straddling the equator has to know this, right?
Another tough one to swallow is the myth of the flushing toilet. One of the highlights of the Museo Solar Inti Ñan is the demonstration of water draining counterclockwise north of the equator and clockwise 3m away, south of the equator. Researchers claim it’s a crock. The Coriolis Force – which causes weather systems to veer right in the northern hemisphere and left in the southern hemisphere – has no effect on small bodies of water like those in a sink or a toilet. Draining water spins the way it does due to plumbing, eddies in the water, the shape of the basin and other factors.
How about some truth: you do weigh less on the equator. This is due to greater centrifugal force on the equator than at the poles. But the difference between here and at the poles is only about 0.3%, not the 1.5% to 2% the scales at the monument imply.
It is true that the spring and autumn equinoxes are the only days when the sun shines directly overhead at the equator. In fact, that’s what defines an equinox. But that doesn’t mean the days and nights are equal in length, as many would have you believe – this happens just before the spring equinox and just after the autumn equinox, and the day depends on where you are on the planet.
More fascinating than any of the myths perpetuated by Inti Ñan and the Mitad del Mundo, however, is the fact that the true equator (0º0'0'' degrees, according to GPS readings) resides on a sacred indigenous site constructed more than 1,000 years ago. The name of the site is Catequilla, and it sits on a hilltop on the opposite side of the highway from the Mitad del Mundo.

The latitude of the Earth's equator is, by definition, 0° (zero degrees) of arc. The equator is one of the five notable circles of latitude on Earth; the other four are both polar circles (the Arctic Circle and the Antarctic Circle) and both tropical circles (the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn). The equator is the only line of latitude which is also a great circle—that is, one whose plane passes through the center of the globe. The plane of Earth's equator, when projected outwards to the celestial sphere, defines the celestial equator.
In the cycle of Earth's seasons, the equatorial plane runs through the Sun twice per year: on the equinoxes in March and September. To a person on Earth, the Sun appears to travel above the equator (or along the celestial equator) at these times. Light rays from the Sun's center are perpendicular to Earth's surface at the point of solar noon on the equator.
Locations on the equator experience the shortest sunrises and sunsets because the Sun's daily path is nearly perpendicular to the horizon for most of the year. The length of daylight (sunrise to sunset) is almost constant throughout the year; it is about 14 minutes longer than nighttime due to atmospheric refraction and the fact that sunrise begins (or sunset ends) as the upper limb, not the center, of the Sun's disk contacts the horizon.
Earth bulges slightly at the equator; the "average" diameter of Earth is 12,750 km (7,920 mi), but the diameter at the equator is about 43 km (27 mi) greater than at the poles.
Sites near the equator, such as the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana, are good locations for spaceports as they have a fastest rotational speed of any latitude, 460 m/s. The added velocity reduces the fuel needed to launch spacecraft eastward (in the direction of Earth's rotation) to orbit, while simultaneously avoiding costly maneuvers to flatten inclination during missions such as the Apollo moon landings.

A scene from our Thanksgiving trip. Right now all my cameras are malfunctioning---so having a bit of a problem taking new shots!
The fog horn was wailing out at Fort Amherst, not much use going out there. I am down in The Narrows in a bit of shelter out of the spray from the waves. Quite a sea on. This is the result of clicking on Equalize in Photoshop, did a little adjustment to raise mid-tones and liked the dramatic purple hue rather than just plain old grey sky.

A Slinky is a toy pre-compressed helical spring invented by Richard James.
It can perform a number of tricks, including travelling down a flight of steps end-over-end as it stretches and re-forms itself with the aid of gravity and its own momentum.
Great fun from Studio Indigo.
Hope this brings a smile again, have a good day and thanks for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)

"Education, then, beyond all other devices of human origin, is the great equalizer of the conditions of men, — the balance-wheel of the social machinery. I do not here mean that it so elevates the moral nature as to make men disdain and abhor the oppression of their fellow-men. This idea pertains to another of its attributes. But I mean that it gives each man the independence and the means by which he can resist the selfishness of other men. It does better than to disarm the poor of their hostility towards the rich: it prevents being poor." - Horace Mann

Wat Lokaya Sutha is situated to the west of the Ayutthaya Grand Royal Palace. No evidence has been found to indicate when it was built. Only comparative study of art style of the temple mail prang reflects early period of Ayutthaya arts. Wat Wat Lokaya Sutha or Lokayasutharam is located near Wat Worapoh and Wat Worachettharam. The primary feature of this wat is the huge reclining Buddha image, Phra Budhasaiyart, located in the ruins of the viharn and facing towards the East. It was constructed of bricks and cement in the Middle Ayutthaya Period and is 42 meters long and 8 meters high. The head is resting on a lotus and the legs overlap squarely to show the equalized toes a sign of enlightenment and beauty. The image was restored in 1954 and again in 1989.
A Bhikkhuni is a fully ordained female Buddhist monastic. Buddhism is unique in that Buddha, as founder of a spiritual tradition, explicitly states in canonical literature that a woman is as capable of Nirvana (enlightenment) as a man, and can fully attain all four stages of enlightenment.
