An image inspired by the entitled Same Love by Macklemore. There really is no freedom until we're equal.
On a rather cool and sunny Sunday morning, well over 100 individuals arrived at Willowbrook High School in the Chicago suburb of Villa Park. They gathered in the parking lot to listen to citizens of the community, school staff, students, alumni and activists speak out against perceived injustice and make an appeal for a lasting committment to ending the status quo that in their view disproportionately harms African-Americans and their communities. Attendees were also encouraged to continue to educate themselves on institutional racism, to speak out against injustice in their respective family and friend circles, and to commit to voting in the upcoming elections, with an emphasis on making sure to vote in the local races that so often determine what types of policies are implemented close to home. Eight minutes and forty-six seconds of silence were observed, with many taking a knee, in remembrance of George Floyd. A short march and protest was then commenced around the local residential area before returning back to the high school. This event was one example of the increasing number of local rallies in recent weeks in the Chicagoland suburbs.

When you meet someone better than yourself, turn your thoughts to becoming his equal. When you meet someone not as good as you are, look within and examine your own self.

Alright, I have never (and hopefully will never again) do these Flickr rants but all the marriage equality stuff that’s been flying around today has me really determined to finally get up and say something.
For starters: IT’S 2013 PEOPLE. The fact that we’re still arguing about the marriage rights of two people in a relationship, ANY two people, is absolutely ridiculous. I don’t understand how this kind of issue can go to court and not be called out point-blank for discrimination—as far as I’m concerned, there is absolutely nothing that differentiates the desire for two men or two women (or two people anywhere in between) to get married from the contract between any other couple on this planet. It’s just so frustrating that this country and most of the people in it seem to understand that racism against non-Caucasians is wrong, that ageism is wrong, that discrimination against the handicapped is wrong, but they don’t realize the effect of this type of negligence. And I’m not even speaking as a gay man, but as a human. A human who cares about the love between other humans.
To the government and everyone else in the country that stands in my way: Marriage is a legal contract and I’d like it explained as to how a man’s right to marry a man interferes with another man’s right to marry a woman.
For now, you can tell me I can’t get married. For now, you can tell me my love isn’t equal to yours, that I’m not privy to the same basic human rights as my heterosexual counterparts. BUT these problems, this fight, this journey to equality, is going to be here and is going to continue until you all wake up and ban this ban on love. In other words, you can try to push things aside, you can try and tell me to be quiet for now, but I’m not going anywhere.
Policies must change to achieve equality between women and men, says Parliament in a non-legislative resolution passed by 441 votes to 205 with 52 abstentions on Tuesday. Despite progress on some gender inequality issues, much remains to be done to reduce pay gaps, remove “glass ceilings” on women’s careers, remedy their lack of economic independence, improve their work/life balance, including parental leave, and protect their rights and access to contraception and abortion.
"The verdict is less than glorious: change is too slow and women's rights are suffering the effects of this. But the majority in favour of the resolution shows that the European Parliament backs the fight for wage equality, efforts to combat violence against women, agree on maternity leave proposals and safeguard access to abortion", said rapporteur Marc Tarabella (S&D, BE) after the vote.

It's an exciting year for us here in Preston as it's Preston Guild. Preston Guild comes around every 20 years and it's a brilliant celebration where all Prestonian's come together. There are various events thoughout the year, culminating in September where we have a week of parades and good stuff.
This year, American artist Yvette Mattern has designed a laser show to celebrate the opening of the olympics and also to symbolise diversity and peace. Preston is home to these lights for 3 nights where they light up our docklands.
I couldn't resist grabbing my camera and running down there, but I was with the small one so didn't take the tripod as I had to keep one eye on him and one eye on down the lens! I took over 200 shots and really couldn't pick out a favourite, but I do rather like this one if I'm allowed to. I'll probably put a few more up over the next few days.
It didn't mean much then but it moves me now. All the things time left behind, not worth the bother to haul away or sell. Who'd be buying anyway? The drift of shiftless seasons, looking back on your own reflections. A man named Barry signed this painting, left a mark the ticking years will take, peeling back passion and passionless in measure. Slow equality in rot and loss, what's composed of dust to dust? For the last half of my twenties, I ran a shop in my hometown called Low Tide Gallery. After everything I sold, perhaps just 10% of those pieces will survive for a century. Love lives with us well enough, but translates and passes on poorly. What moves us now might mean nothing for the next, pure chance that recognition will find reasons from the millions. I wonder – but don't particularly care – if what I make in my life will matter when I'm gone. It only really matters while I exist to know it.

The triangular shape which can be found almost everywhere in the Estonian Parliament symbolizes equality.
today mumbai police had no shame while beating up the young medical students protesting against the Caste reservation policy by Government of india.
Students were badly hit and many of whom are injured, this is not the way the future generation of india should be treated, we are no politicians but we are future of this country.... you cant treat students as "terrorists" we do not deserve your "laathi's" Mr. Prime Minister...
students are protesting non-violently... but today we are being hit as if we are criminals.. students are treated in worst manner than we treat street dogs...
We have realised our condition... we will fight back... we will shake this Biased and "vote hungry" government... we dont want our future to be as ugly as you have made politicians... we want our future india to be free of shit like you...
Fuck the government... they are "gutterment" infact!
