“We can’t keep patting ourselves on the back for this incremental progress that we’re making (...) what it’s really going to take is courage and bold steps.” -- Ambassador Hamamoto

Dr. Kimmel, who is the Executive Director of the Center for the Study of Men and Masculinities at Stony Brook University, engaged a powerhouse of male and female Geneva-based leaders in a frank, public conversation about how to transcend barriers and transform perceptions about equality, masculinities and feminism. He challenged the audience to ask “Why men should support gender equality?”

The conversation included:

Roberto Azevêdo, Director-General of the World Trade Organization; Ambassador Pamela Hamamoto, United States Permanent Representative to the UN and other International Organizations in Geneva; Michael Møller, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva and Andrea Pedrazzini, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi, Switzerland.

The event was organized jointly by International Gender Champions, the Gender Centre at the Graduate Institute of Geneva, the United States Mission to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva, the United Nations Office at Geneva, and Women@theTable.

balancing in time for hope for all,

humanity needing to listen once more, winds calling,

birds singing,

hearts fluttering,

friends smiling,

spirit yearning,

at the earth's equator,

making night and day equal,

Capital Pride 2013 - Washington, DC - staging area 06-09-2013

Pride Month kicks off in New York City with the Queens Pride Parade, celebrating their 20th year! The annual march is smaller than the Manhattan but no less fabulous! Also out in force this year are the political candidates for New York City offices, stumping for votes in the LBGT community. So, you take the good with the bad in election years.

One side of our living mural! Designed by three artists, and executed by them and a small army of painting helpers, it depicts various scenes from LGBT history. This side has our flags, a holocaust memorial panel, Stonewall and prop 8 protests. The "living" part is that we had actors on the float, portraying key figures in the artwork.
