Hoy tocó Epcot. Sí, el de la bola gigante.
Ni te cuento que no me podía levantar del sueño que tenía. Era algo así como una bolsa de papa, pero bueno, no quedaba otra. Me levanté, me bañé, desayuné.
Me preparé y fuimos a la parada del micro.
Como hoy había “Horas mágicas” en Epcot (Horas mágicas significa que el parque está abierto más horas de lo común, pero sólo es beneficio para los que están hospedados en los hoteles de Disney), entonces cuando llegamos a la parada había un muuuundo de gente. Teníamos que esperar para viajar cómodos, algo así como 2 micros. Ni a palos.
Nos tomamos un micro a Magic Kingdom, que iba vacío vacío y daba la casualidad que justo estaba en la parada esperando gente. Fue. Subimos y llegamos a Magic Kingdom.
De ahí nos bajamos y nos tomamos el monorriel, que pasó por toooodos los parques de Disney, y nos dejó en Epcot. Hermoso, porque vimos todo desde arriba, parecía que ibas flotando en el aire.
Llegamos a Epcot. La puta madre, me olvidé la gorra. Me duele la cabeza. Tengo fiebre? Tengo fiebre? Teeeeennnnggggoooo fiebre? No Antonella no tenés fiebre ¬¬
Hacía un calor que no te explico, tuve que pasar por enfermería a que me den un ibuprofeno. Claramente estaba insolada.
Bueno bassta de comentarios al margen, les voy a contar donde fui:
Ahhh primero les voy a contar que es Epcot. Epcot es uno de los parques más grandes de Disney, junto con Magic Kingdom. Cada parque tiene una temática, y este parque la temática que tiene es un poco del futuro, y también de la importancia de la ecología en un futuro. Osea, te hablan del reciclaje, de la manera de cuidar el medio ambiente, y bueno todas esas cosas. También justo era el año de las flores y tocó sede en Epcot. Estaba todo adornado con flores, y estaban todos los personajes de Disney hechos con plantas. Ya van a ver fotos, era espectacular, muyy original. Ahora sí:
A la primera atracción que fuimos era un carrito que te contaba una historia de una señora que estaba participando de un juego de preguntas y respuestas sobre la energía del presente, y que estaba perdiendo porque no sabía nada. Entonces de repente tiene un sueño donde viene un científico y le cuenta todo como empezó. (Toda esta historia te la contaban arriba de unos coches que en ningún momento me dí cuenta que se movían, hasta que terminaron de contar la introducción. Aparecía la secuencia de la historia en una pantalla tipo de cine, pero era casi 360º, digo casi porque la parte de atrás no tenía pantalla).
Los carritos empezaron a moverse y nos llevaron por un túnel que te contaba la historia del mundo desde el Big Bang, e ibas viendo los dinosaurios, la flora y la fauna, todo por los costados, y eran muñecos re reales. Después paramos en otra sala y de nuevo la pantalla 360º, donde nos terminaron de contar la historia. La verdad estuvo buenísimo, porque a estos tipos no se les escapa ningún detalle, dentro de esas cuevas hacía frío, había olor, de repente hacía calor, otro tipo de olor. Posta posta que sentías que estabas ahí.
Después fuimos a un juego que era un simulacro de nave espacial. Te metían en una nave, te ponías los cinturones, y no te explico cómo sentías que despegabas, que flotabas en el espacio y que te dabas vuelta. Era terrible. Teníamos una pantallita delante de cada uno donde veíamos qué hacíamos y donde estábamos. El objetivo era llegar a Marte. Misión cumplida.
Después otra de las cosas que tiene Epcot es el paseo por un montón de países. Al primero que fuimos fue a México. Nos subimos en unos botecitos que nos llevaron por unos túneles y nos contaban la historia de México, mientras veíamos marionetas y muñecos que bailaban y cantaban alrededor. Pasamos por la península de Yucatán y vimos Mariachis y dibujos del Pato Donald y Zé Carioca con los gorros gigantes cantando y bailando. Jeje.
Noruega fue el país que le siguió. Había un súper juego ahí que tenía terrible cola. Sacamos los pases directos y nos mandamos. Era un barco Vikingo que le ponía las re pilas. Chassssco mall! Era un botecito que ni si quiera te mojaba y te llevaba por todos los rincones de una cueva Vikinga. Se quisieron hacer los malos haciéndonos creer que nos íbamos a caer por una cascada y no me movió ni un pelo. Después vimos una película acerca de Noruega. Chasco.
El juego al que fuimos después la rompió. Era un test track, esos que les hacen a los autos para ver la seguridad, el impacto en los choches, los frenos con y sin ABS, todo eso. Te subían en un auto, los cinturones ajustados y a bancaaaarrselaaa
El auto iba a las chapas, era genial. En un momento parecía que se iba a chocar contra una pared para ver el impacto y los airbags, pero de repente se abre esa pared y salimos como a una calle, y volvimos a ir a las chapas mal. Estuvo buenísimo.
Paseando entramos a un triángulo hecho de cristales. Ahí entramos en un cine a ver una película protagonizada por Timón y Pumba, que te contaban la historia del “Círculo de la vida”, estuvo buena, q se yo, para concientizar a la gente del maltrato animal.
Salimos de ahí y nos subimos a un Conchamóvil jajaja. Era un paseo en una Concha (De mar, gente) que flotaba en el agua mientras veías a Nemo y sus amigos pasear por el agua. Los personajes de Nemo y sus amigos estaban hechos en 4D, muuuuy bien hechos, y de fondo, tenían un acuario. Cuando salimos de ahí, fuimos a ver el acuario, que era impresionantemente grande. Podías bucear ahí con todos los peces, había delfines y tiburones. Excelente la verdad.
Imagination! Le siguió. Era un edificio que estaba protagonizado por los científicos de “Querida encogí a los niños” y el de dinosaurio ese violeta simpático, que no sé como se llama la película.
El primero fue el del dinosaurio, que nos subieron en unos carritos y simulaban que estábamos pasando por un control de “Olfato, tacto, gusto, oído y vista”, y así fue, porque había en un momento un olor impresionante, veíamos cosas que misteriosamente desaparecían, fue espectacular.
Después fuimos al de Querida encogí a los niños, en una sala 3D. Cada vez me doy más cuenta que los de Disney la tienen clarísima con el 3D. Nos sentamos, con mi hermana revisamos que no haya nada que nos tire agua, nada en los asientos que nos hagan asustar, divisamos un ventilador en el techo y ya.
La historia era hacernos creer que nos achicamos (De hecho así resultó, nos la creíamos de lo bien que estaba hecho) y ahí cuando éramos chiquitos chiquitos y los actores pasaban por al lado nuestro, todas las butacas se empezaron a mover como si los pasos de los actores fueran súper gigantes y nos movieran. Después pasó un perro y nos estornudó encima. Tooodos salpicados. Y después a un nene se le clonaron un montón de ratas, y no sólo se le clonaron, sino que también se les escaparon. No te explico como sentí algo en las piernas que me tocaba. Me asusté mucho. Espectacular, 10 puntos, ootra vez.
Ya e estaba haciendo de noche y nos fuimos a la atracción principal: La bola gigante de Epcot. Espectacular estuvo. Son unos carritos que te llevan todo por adentro de la bola, contándote la historia de la humanidad, y cómo fuimos avanzando con la tecnología.
Íbamos subiendo y subiendo y subiendo…y al lado nuestro había todos muñecos (Que por cierto parecían personas) que te iban mostrando como fue el avance del planeta tierra. Cuando bajamos nos hicieron completar unos datos, y bajamos de espaldas, porque la verdad era muy muy alto y muy muy empinado. Imaginate que el carrito bajara de frente, era más montaña rusa que otra cosa. Nos sacaron un par de fotos y nos contaron una historia para que no miremos para abajo. Jajaja, la verdad espectacular, pero genial genial mal. Está para subirse una y otra vez, muy interesante.
Y por último, a las 21 había un show de luces, fuegos artificiales y música en el lago central. Fue hermoso, los de Disney definitivamente saben lo que hacen. Un show de fuegos artificiales al ritmo de la música, que se cruzaban, hacían figuras en el cielo, colores, fuego, y u mundo iluminado en el centro del lago que iba mostrando todas las virtudes que tiene el planeta tierra. Finalizando el show, el mundo se abre y sale una antorcha del medio que prácticamente iluminó todo el parque. Los aplausos no fueron para menos. Terriblemente espectacular, no tengo palabras para describirlo.
Paseamos un ratito más, repetimos un par de juegos y nos fuimos a dormir porque estábamos muy cansados, caminamos como 12 horas. Mañana, parque de agua.

The structure is similar in texture to the United States pavilion from Expo 67 in Montreal, but unlike that structure, Spaceship Earth is a complete sphere, supported on legs. The structure's exterior is comparable to that of a large golf ball.
Geometrically, Spaceship Earth is a derivative of a pentakis dodecahedron, with each of the 60 isosceles triangle faces divided into 16 smaller equilateral triangles (with a bit of fudging to make it rounder). Each of those 960 flat panels is sub-divided into four triangles, each of which is divided into three isosceles triangles to form each point. In theory, there are 11,520 total isosceles triangles forming 3840 points. In reality, some of those triangles are partially or fully nonexistent due to supports and doors; there are actually only 11,324 of them, with 954 partial or full flat panels.
The appearance of being a monolithic sphere is an architectural goal that was achieved through a structural trick. Spaceship Earth's is in fact two structural domes. Six legs are supported on pile groups that are driven up to 160 feet into Central Florida's soft earth. Those legs support a steel box-shaped ring at the sphere's perimeter, at about 30 degrees south latitude in earth-terms. The upper structural dome sits on this ring. A grid of trusses inside the ring supports the two helical structures of the ride and show system. Below the ring, a second dome is hung from the bottom, completing the spherical shape. The ring and trusses form a table-like structure which separates the upper dome from the lower. Supported by and about three feet off of the structural domes is a cladding sphere to which the shiny Alucobond panels and drainage system are mounted.
The cladding was designed so that when it rains, no water pours off the sides onto the ground. (All water is "absorbed" through one inch gaps in the facets and is collected in a gutter system - and finally channeled into the World Showcase Lagoon.)
Epcot is my favorite park in Disney World. It is amazing, and I'm so glad Zac enjoyed it as much as I did. They have the BEST firework show in the world. It was truly magical and I'm so thankful I got to share that moment with the person I love!
Spaceship Earth was sponsored by the Bell System originally, from 1982 until 1984. Bell was broken up into smaller companies in 1984, and its parent company, AT&T became its own independent company. AT&T would sponsor Spaceship Earth from 1984 until 2004. From 2005 onwards, German company Siemens has been the new sponsor of Spaceship Earth.
In October 1982, the attraction experience began as the ride vehicles moved up into the structure through a lighted tunnel enhanced by a fog machine, and then ascended on a spiraling track up through dark spaces featuring a series of lighted historic vignettes. The attraction featured actor Larry Dobkin as the narrator along with a very simple and quiet orchestral composition throughout the attraction.
A list of the scenes is below. The theme of communication through the ages was developed in chronological order in theatrical settings peopled with Audio-Animatronics figures. Actors were seen (and heard quietly) declaiming in a Greek theater. Charioteers carried messages from a Roman court, and Jewish and Islamic scholars discussed texts. With typical Disney whimsy, a monk was seen fallen asleep on a manuscript he was inscribing. Michelangelo, overhead, painted the ceiling of the Sistine chapel, and Gutenberg manned his printing press.
Suggesting the rush of 20th-century technology, subsequent scenes melded together, overlapping each other as the circumference of the ride track narrowed. A newsboy hawked papers, a movie marquee and film clips represented the motion pictures, radio and television were represented. As the vehicles reached the large space at the apex of the ride system, guests saw, on the planetarium ceiling of the sphere, projections of stars, planets, the Milky Way, and, closest and largest, "spaceship earth." The Omnimover vehicles then revolved 180 degrees, so that that the passengers were lying backward facing the "sky" as they began their descent, on a relatively straight track. The attraction ended with guests hearing scientific audio from around the world, and seeing on a series of screens, projected scenes of computer graphics, scientific data, a space shuttle launch, among others. The ride stops intermittently as wheelchairs are loaded or unloaded.
The attraction was given a slight remodel. This second version of the attraction started off with the lightened tunnel enhanced by twinkling lights, meant to depict stars, with the fog machine removed. Famous news journalist Walter Cronkite was the new narrator, reading from an updated script. A theme song called Tomorrow's Child was composed for the ending of the attraction, which was redesigned with projected images of children on screens to help fit with the theme of "Tomorrow's Child".
In August 1994, the attraction was given a major remodel. This third version of the attraction kept the lightened tunnel as it was in 1986, and maintained the majority of the scenes depicted in the beginning and middle of the attraction. Three scenes toward the end of the attraction that showed a computer in a boy's bedroom of the 1980s, a woman's office of the 1980s, and a network operations center of the 1990s, were all removed and replaced with one scene depicting a boy and girl using the internet from America to Asia via instant communication. Actor Jeremy Irons was the new narrator, reading from an updated script. A new orchestral composition was composed for the beginning, middle, and end of the attraction. The ending itself was completely redone, with the removal of the Space Station scene located in the attraction's planetarium, replacement of an old projected image of Earth in the planetarium with a new image, and replacement of the 1982 and 1986 ending scenes of the ride them with miniature architectural settings connected by color-changing fiber optic cables and arrays of blinking lights representing electronic Communication pathways. The attraction re-opened in its third version on November 23, 1994.
On July 9, 2007, the attraction was again closed for another remodel that included a number of updates to the attraction. The attraction opened again with its fourth version in February 2008, with a new score composed by Bruce Broughton and new narration provided by Dame Judi Dench. The attraction's exterior was also modified for the 2007 renovations.

Consisting of five members from ethnically diverse backgrounds, Off Kilter brings a new twist to Celtic music. Off Kilter was formed in 1997, and has been performing regularly at Epcot ever since.
