In the week that they launched their major new book, ‘Fine Line: Twelve Environmental Sculptures Encircle the Earth’, Talking Pictures features an interview the New Zealand environmental artists Martin Hill and Philippa Jones. The couple have been collaborating for over three decades on the creation of ephemeral sculptures and land installations, which they then preserve as photographs. Their images speak to their concerns for sustainable design and circular systems, urging us to recognise the wisdom time has bestowed on Nature and to understand that we too can learn and adopt its restorative and regenerative processes.

Philadelphia

Development in Philly is out of control, worsening conditions for working class people & the environment. Hundreds of community activists took to the streets to set the tone for Philly's 2023 election: anyone running for mayor or city council better have policy solutions for ensuring long-term, working class residents have a place in this city and that Philly is truly tackling and prepared for the climate crisis.

The march was organized by community groups fighting for land justice across our city, including Philly Thrive, Sunrise Movement, VietLead, Save UCTownhomes, Save the Meadows, Cobbs Creek EJ, and more!

An important factor when looking at the region in terms of environment and security is the impact of climate change in Central Asia in general, and Ferghana Valley in particular. By modifying people’s livelihood, climate change may have an important security dimension in conjunction with other aggravating factors. In the Ferghana valley it is likely that climate change will primarily affect sector related to water and agriculture. Central Asia is likely to have a shortage of water associated with a significant increase in air surface temperatures.

Through our Multicultural Leaders in Sustainability program, we provide young migrants and refugees with the leadership skills they need to help their communities live more sustainably.

We take them on a four month training program in leadership and sustainability. Then we help them run their own sustainability projects, taking the message straight to migrant and refugee communities. Our successful graduates are awarded the Certificate I in Active Volunteering, which helps them on their path towards further study or employment.

My art is infused all over the house. i have a little spot in my room where i make jewelry. I have a small studio across from my bedroom where i do painting, mixed media and mosaics. i also have a section downstairs where i do my sewing and always host workshops. so you see, my creative environment is all around me.

Arctic sea-ice reductions have significant impacts on climate, wildlife and communities. The opening of open water across the Arctic ocean will have unknown consequences in terms of changes in water circulation and redistribution of species from the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. As sea ice coverage declines, albedo diminishes and more radiation is absorbed by the sea water, in a feed-back process that enhances warming and melting sea ice.
