The Entry Island Light House, built after the great storm of August 1873. One of my great-great uncles was the lightkeeper.
Taken in 1989.
my entry for the weekly photo contest. this week's theme: passion
i wrote a thriller/horror novel in sixth grade. it was twenty chapters long and featured a bathtub full of blood and cannibalism. i won first place in a book contest when i was in third grade with an illustrated story about a girl who runs away from home. i wish i could find more time to write more fiction instead of essays on the relationship between music in early childhood and cognitive development. wahoo!
The entrance to the White Memorial Building. This High Victorian Gothic style building, built in 1876, was designed by Joseph Lyman Silsbee. It was constructed by the sons of Hamilton and Horace White. Particularly noteworthy for its elaborately sculpted entry, complete with gargoyles, the iron cresting atop its slate roof, the pointed arches over the third story; and the decorative bands of black and sand colored brick contrasting with the dark red brick background. For almost a century, H.J. Howe Jeweler occupied the front corner of the building. The White Memorial Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located at 100 East Washington Street in Syracuse, NY. (S3/53)

My SMoT R2 Entry. My category was Fish, so I went with a Flying Four-armed Merman. Crazy? Why yes it is. Also, sorry about my shitty pics, my lighting situation hasn't been great lately, hopefully my next batch of photos will have better lighting. Anywho, Enjoy the MOC.
(Journal update forthcoming! In the mean time hit up GRAVEYARD DIRT for other stories - cheers! XO.)
Here is my entry. I will blog all the details about it on my blog,
Unfortunately my client Monkl has had enough of posing while I measure him and in our final photo shoot, refused to wear the clothes correctly. Subsequently in my competition entry he has the pants on his head and the fine, banana-hunter's-helmet I especially created for hunting knitted bananas is on his bottom.
...but if you knew Monkl you would probably realise that this is pretty iconic... it's like so him.
Thanks for creating such a fun contest!!

Taken at Cloud Break at an outer reef in Fiji, a surfer duck dives his board to clear the rolling waves of the raw ocean.

It's very hard to tell from this photo, but I am thinking of doing the eaves and rafters in a nice color. It's going to be a difficult decision because there will be white walls, black windows and trim and then the stupid reddish roof!!
Entries in a Newport Photo Club competition in April 2016 on the theme of 'seasons'. The judge wasn't impressed and none was placed. The audience were amused though, which was just as important.
No fancy lighting: I used a downlighter that usually lives in our dining room.
