NATO's Medium Extended Air Defense System (or MEADS for short) is built up of four primary building blocks, the first of which serves the mmost glamorous function--actually engaging the enemy. The Transporter Erector Launcher (TEL) utilizes the MIM-104F PAC-3 MSE missile, carried in modular eight-pack cannisters. An evolution of the venerable PATRIOT missile, the MSE increases the system's range and lethality over the baseline PAC-2 & PAC-3 variants of the PATRIOT misile that have been in service since 1990. This interceptor's capability gives NATO's MEADS batteries game against both aircraft and ballistic missile targets.
The TEL vehicle itself is also one of the key features of MEADS' "Plug-and-Fight" design. Since most of the electronics and combat systems reside on the missile pack itself, it can be loaded on almost any vehicle which is equipped with a standardized Load Handling System (LHS). In US Army service, MEADS TELs are almost always an M1120A4 HEMTT LHS. This can vary in other NATO member nations, such as the German or Dutch contingents in ZEUS, which utilize heavy-duty RMMV HX trucks.

CN train Q119 runs on CP track to get around a bridge fire and subsequent derailment in far northern Minnesota. Weather conditions were forecasted to be unfavorable, but as sometimes happens, the sun stayed out long enough.
The small bridge east of Eden Valley, MN, as well as green vegetation, make for a wonderful summer evening scene.

During our time in Normandy. I wanted to visit the all of the cemeteries. Including the one of our enemy at the time. It is a beautiful and peaceful cemetery. The dark stones are a stark contrast to the allied cemeteries. I did consider cloning out the people in this image, but decided not to. Image made during the European leg of the 2019 Photo Safari with a Pentax K1.

Booyah! My first scene! It was really tough to find a good angle to take this at. Right now the only place I can hope to take photos is outside, but I'm in the market for a lightbox. I took this in the woods near my house and I'm satisfied with how it came out, though I would have liked to have more LEGO in the background. I tried to take Max's advice and use smaller bricks to make the landscape, but I just don't have that many.
What tank is that? ;)

Pop Philosophy 101: Life is 99% about compromise and trade-off.
This is a 650kb file, shot with the D300. The action was at the outer limit of the D300's effective usefulness. If I had used the D7000 with its 33% more megapixels, it would have been a 1mb file, with that much less cropping, and that much more sharpness.
That is to say, it would have been IF the D7000 had managed to grab focus in the cold, in the moving action, and had captured this (or similar) frame in its cold-reduced burst mode.
It stood to reason -- the fickle photography gawds being as they are -- that some of the best shots of the day would be distant ones, where MORE MEGAPIXELS mean everything. However, the still unequaled 51 point 3D AF capability of the D300 means that if the shot is there, and moving, it will most likely get captured in focus. And the machine gun-like burst mode means that the subtleties in pose change in a short period will give more choices in editing. Still, this photo would have been more interesting if captured with a higher resolution sensor.
The Red-Tail spiraled up and up in an attempt to get away from the solitary Crow...to no avail. Eventually the Hawk fled / the crow chased away in the distance.
Next upload will return to the 'bread and butter' subject...duck in flight.
