These statues are part of an art exhibition in Budapest.
The New World Design for Contemporary Art presents almost 600sqm of the world of the Great War, which can be seen as the epoch that radically changed the world order of the time: the formerly stable empires have dissolved, culture and public thought have changed dramatically. World War II buried the old world, the result of a new world conflagration and then the Cold War. Europe was bleak in the twilight that the 20th century was dominated by America and Russia.
The exhibition takes visitors from happy peace to enthusiasm for war and bitter disappointment. It shows how the civilization of civilized and global warfare was fought, how the 19th century came to a standstill and the hinterland became the battlefield. The nature of war has changed: victory has now become a function of the amount of war material.

This series has an interesting story! Last year Jan. in the afternoon Dad was outside, doing some work, it was too hot, so I asked him to come inside n take rest. He refused and contd. so thought of preparing some juice for him, I heard some unusual chaos of birds, about 25-30 birds of diff. sps were flying frantically. When saw, I thought this chick was entangled in vines, so thought of helping it with a stick. It was about 12-15 ft up, so climbed a ladder, but then I realized it was caught by vine snake :( This snake is very slender, its girth is as that of my finger, it caught this poor Bulbul, but swallowing was not easy. This bird tried to escape, but died soon, the snake struggled long time to gulp it down and when realized it could be fatal, spat at me and vanished :(

In Ukraine, the red oak is classified as an alien (invasive) tree species that is prohibited from being planted for forest restoration. Having no natural enemies, it is able to change or destroy entire ecosystems.

В Україні дуб червоний віднесено до чужорідних (інвазійних) видів дерев, які заборонено садити для відновлення лісів. Не маючи природних ворогів, він здатний змінити або знищити цілі екосистеми.
«Листя червоного дуба дуже міцне і в українських грунтах немає бактерій, які б його швидко розкладали. Через шар листя під деревами погано ростуть лісові трави (особливо первоцвіти). Коріння червоного дуба змінює кислотність і склад ґрунтів і це також негативно позначається на лісових екосистемах. Він виділяє алелопатично активні сполуки, які шкодять іншим видам. В результаті червоний дуб витісняє наш дуб – головного годувальника лісу. Під червоним дубом не ростуть жодні гриби тоді як під аборигенним дубом і в сімбіозі з ним ростуть сотні видів грибів. Агресивний прибулець стрімко поширюеться самосівом.
Граничний вік такого дерева – близько 400 років, тоді як звичайні ростуть і понад тисячу.»

The Lizard Lighthouse stands at Lizard Point, the most southerly point of mainland Britain.
It acts as a coastal mark and to indicate landfall, guiding shipping passing along the English Channel and warning them of the dangerous waters here.
The current lighthouse with its two towers was built in 1751 but there was a working light here as early as 1619. This early lighthouse was erected thanks to the generosity of Sir John Killigrew, who applied for a patent which was granted on the condition that the light would be extinguished in time of war so it did not help to guide enemy vessels.
Killigrew agreed and erected the lighthouse but while he was sufficiently wealthy to have it built, the cost of maintaining it proved too much and almost bankrupted him. He had hoped that the vessels who benefited from the light would contribute towards its upkeep but unfortunately this did not happen. James I ordered that all ships who passed the light should pay a halfpenny per ton. Pressure from the unhappy ship owners who disagreed with this tax on them forced the patent to be revoked so the light was extinguished and the tower was subsequently demolished.
Although requests were made, it was not until 1748 that Thomas Fonnereau was given the go ahead by Trinity House to construct a new lighthouse. Completed in 1751 it is the building you see today with its two towers linked by a cottage in which one of the keepers would sit keeping an eye on both lanterns. If the fires became low he would sound a cow horn to let the others know it was time to stoke up the fires with the bellows.
In 1771, Trinity House took over the running of the Lizard lighthouse.
From 1903 onwards only the east tower was lit.
Automation came to the lantern in 1998 so the lighthouse keepers were no longer required.
The lantern has been removed from the western tower.
