Under nose front view of a Republic F-105D Thunderchief
The F-105 was designed as a supersonic fighter-bomber that could carry nuclear or conventional weapons. The F-105D all-weather variant had mono-pulse and Doppler radar for night or bad weather operations. The weapon bay, designed for nuclear weapons, was sealed and fitted with extra fuel tanks (the aircraft could be refueled in midair). Bombs were carried on fuselage-mounted weapon racks and wing pylons. The first F-105D flew in 1959, and 610 were eventually built.
This aircraft served in several units and is restored to its 1967 Vietnam-era appearance while assigned to the 388th Tactical Fighter Wing, 421st Tactical Fighter Squadron at Korat RTAB, Thailand. After this “Thud” finished its combat tour (which included operation Rolling Thunder, Steel Tiger, and Barrel Roll) it served with the District of Colombia Air National Guard, then was transferred to the Museum in 1981

This is the concert hall of China Central Conservatory in Beijing(中国音乐学院) if my old mac sends correct chinese characters, that is...
I know it is just an empty hall, but I like the colors, the dimension, perspective.
9841 empty ore train from Pt Kembla. A fairly short train hauled by a single loco - but what a novel loco, C502. From memory this was the first week of Cootes operating the train, after taking over the traffic from Pacific National.
Taken as part of the International Empty Shop Day 4 May 2010.
The very low, setting sun cast a huge shadow in front of the pedestrian as he walked along the pavement.
The clock above the shop is not working.
Something about this old ironmongers shop makes me think of The Two Ronnie's word play sketch in a hardware store about fork handles and four candles.
This shop will be sadly missed locally.
I was at work one night to finish something up... the hallway looks a little spooky this way when the building is empty.

The machine that goes "ping". One of the cool devices that I found from the empty sanatorium. Set: Tuberculosis hospital. (1933) (Finland)
I took the wrong "skylink" train between terminals at DFW on July 4. The car I was in had no one but me in it, and it stopped at several brand new, completely empty terminals.
Today I cleaned the fridge out in prep for Thanksgiving at our house. I didn't just EMPTY it of icky stuff, I scrubbed and cleaned it, taking out all the glass shelves and crisper drawers too. Look how it shines!
Mike pointed out that there are a lot of handicapped parking spaces in a Metra parking lot that is 1/4 mile away from the station and on a different grade. Of course, these are included to meet some requirements, but perhaps Metra could have gotten out of this requirement with a waiver.

Empty shops on the Centre Dandenong Road shopping strip in Dingley. The strip was fully occupied for years before a difficult retail climate in recent times. High rents in this strip have had a major impact here, according to this article from the Moorabbin-Kingston Leader.
