Another first for me - I was so happy to find this gorgeous green hairstreak in our local butterfly meadow. I'd only seen photos before, but the dazzling green didn't disappoint!

From our quick visit to Lake Tahoe last week when the promised snow storms evaporated into thin air. But the clouds were beautiful down at Emerald Bay just before sunset.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday! And thanks for all your nice comments and faves -- they mean a lot to me.

Emerald Lake is in Yoho National Park, British Columbia. Went on a sunny and cloudy day, there was walking path that took you all the way around this beautiful emerald green mountain lake. The photo was taken before crossing the bridge, the little lodge locates just on the end of bridge, with lake and mountains on both sides. The lodge would be beautiful with light on when covered with snow in winter time.

These are the actual colours as shot - the only adjustment I made was to tone down the highlights a bit. A beautiful spring evening!

Yoho National Park is located along the western slopes of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in the province of British Columbia. Huge gorges and canyons and mountain peaks right on top of the highway. The peaks dominate you, quieter than Jasper and Banff and very atmospheric. If you love nature and want to see the most stunning lakes and forests this is the place. The photo was taken around sunset time at the rounded trail end, where you could take the kayak, although it was closed for the day. The mountains peaks reflected on the lake, the bridge and lodge was empty while I was waiting for the light from the lodge…

The subalpine forest at Emerald Lake tapers to a few dense stands, revealing Flattop Mountain and Hallett Peak ahead.

At this elevation, the winds and heavy snowfall make survivability for most plant and animal life challenging.

As seen here, even in June the temperatures remain cold enough to keep ice floating on about 1/6th of the lake.
