The Theodore Grain Elevator is the last remaining wooden grain elevator in the community of Theodore, Saskatchewan, after the other three were demolished. This historic structure symbolizes the importance of agriculture in the region and serves as a reminder of the past agricultural economy and the communities it supported. It is adorned with the 1967 Canadian Centennial maple leaf.

A new building discovered today and a massive one to boot with very easy access. Endless rooms of peeling paint of all colors, 4 floors, access to the roof and despite about 2 1/2 hours of exploring much was left unphotographed. It was an accidental discovery and me without my tripod was forced to borrow a small tabletop from my shooting partner that only reached about a foot or so off the ground thus giving me this perspective with the Sigma 10-20mm of an elevator we stumbled across on one of the floors. I didn`t expect such good fortune today but this building, ladies and gentlemen has ALL kinds of possibilies for all kinds of pictures... should be fun! :)
Stay tuned.
Manitoba, 1979. For those who grew up on the prairies, the grain elevators were commonplace. For a kid from the city in the east, they were amazing, colourful giants from an unknown world.

Cargill Pool, built between 1925 and 1926, is the only Buffalo grain elevator located on Lake Erie (all the others are on the Buffalo River). The grain elevator was invented (or, some say, perfected) in Buffalo in the 1840s and there are still over 30 of these beautiful giants to be seen in Buffalo today.
This car appeared on the tracks while were out for the day visiting relatives. Not sure if it's for loading, or just a BO car. That siding is intact from what I could tell. The elevator is owned by a local farm, so there is a remote chance it could be spotted for loading as they certainly were trucking a pile of grain into there. It was still there this morning, however I had to head back to Edmonton.
It is unlikely that there is another North American city with a population over 50,000 that has a grain elevator in its downtown.

In pitch black, I used a proper flashlight to attain shape and form of these gear and pulley machinery.

Built in the 1928 when the CP Rail arrived in this area of Alberta, this lonely (There was once 3 elevators here!) elevator, and heritage site, still reluctantly stands. The roof got blown off by a "Plow wind" in 2015.
