Ceres was born to the phoenix of the morning sun after she was raped by the gate-keeper of hell and thus had the traits of both elemental spirit and demon-kin alike which made the role of his early life very confusing. He was incarnated as a guardian spirit to a volcano known as "the volcano of rebirth" by locals. It was called 'rebirth' because the hot springs which litter the side of the volcano were used by locals as miracle springs to bring back people with illnesses that left them on the verge of death back to their fully healthy state. Hence, a rebirth of anyone who was dipped into its waters.
For a time, the volcano was peaceful until rumors spread of its existence and adventurers came to see for themselves. A tavern was built to feed and house the adventurers during their stay and spread the tale of healing that was the volcano. Eventually, the spirit himself came down to the tavern and inquired why so many humans had come to his domain. He found the humans to be entertaining at first and sold to them trinkets of colourful glass he had formed by super-heating sand and rock around his home within the volcano. However, as with any good thing - there came a man who sought to use the spirit's power as his own and challenged the spirit to battle.
The spirit was not defeated but had 'died' during the fight. As his mother rose every morning, carrying her 'sun' upon her wings - the next day the spirit was back within the tavern. The same individual called out the spirit once again, but this time was soundly defeated in all manners therein. The patrons of the tavern cast out the defeated man warning him that if he ever returned, his defeat would mean death. After this, Ceres met a woman by the name of Laura who admired his fight from afar and also craved his power as her own. She however, was much more sly in her approach. She implored to the regional spirit of the volcano to aide her on a noble quest to attain her 'wings'. The spirit agreed and willingly lent her his power in her quest. The two traveled together for quite some time with the girl gaining power and strength along with her spiritual companion. Eventually, the power she gained through her own means could not satisfy her and she craved the unending magical energy of the elemental spirit of fire. She came to 'kill' the spirit once again - this time preventing his cycle of rebirth by casting his soul into the 'hell world'.
In the hell world, Ceres finally met the one who had raped his mother, the original 'Cerberus'. It was then for the first time the spirit knew what 'true rage' was. In a blind fit of hate - the spirit slew the demon and absorbed its power - claiming it as his own, his 'birth rite'. In the hell world, RaGe as he became known became a 'captain' of hell's army and in doing so gained the privilege of leaving hell on his own accord.
RaGe returned to the world, reborn again - this time far more powerful than he had left. Sensing his return, his caretaker, the one who killed him in pursuit of power returned to the volcano. RaGe however did not remember the circumstances of his demise. He remembered her before she slaughtered him for his power and he trusted her once again. The two lived happily for some time, birthing two daughters and adopting a third. However, the allure of power is never ending and for a second time the bride of RaGe attempted to take his life to claim his energy.
This time, the fight went differently, the spirit massacred his wife, leaving her bloody entrails littering his 'glass palace'. He left her there until the fumes and maggots ate her as a reminder to himself that humans were not to be trusted.
Decades later an avatar came to him - claiming to be a caretaker of balance, the face of a house that protected the way of the world. Not to be fooled again, the spirit tested the avatar in battle and intellect. Finding him to be a man of worth, the spirit placed his trust in the avatar. Now ascended - Ceres waits for anyone willing to put themselves through 'hell' to come and attempt to claim his power through a spirit-contract. Those who have attempted before have all died in one way or another; perhaps they too have been reborn amidst the dancing flames.

Series made using fundamental, natural elements. These natural elements and compounds are collected at the site of the picture - usually at the location depicted within the photograph. The depicted scene you see here is created not just by light on film but by melding samples of elements and organic matter from the scene into the film development process where subject and medium are married together, the resulting image created from the scene itself.
No collating or cutting and pasting of external or internal elements into the picture in Photoshop or similar editor has taken place.

The water flows unstoppably downwards, and the fire dances upwards. Air itself cannot be seen, but it feeds the flames in the spaces between, and is in the water's foam. Earth is represented by the rocks that contain the water's flow or the coal that feeds the fire.
It is made with polymer clay and metallic powder for the gold and touches of acrylic paint to antique and bring out the texture. The pendant is approximately 7cm in length.
