Caltrain tracks, looking southeast from the pedestrian overcrossing along Lafayette Street in Santa Clara, California.
Installation of cables and supports that will allow Caltrain to transition from diesel-electric to electric locomotives is in progress.
The transition to electric locomotives will allow increased speed, decreased noise and reduce CO2 emissions.
This is the electrified fence surrounding the herd of goats that are eating up all the weeds, grass and just about everything else in their path in order to reduce the fire hazard in the Corte Madera Marsh. My dog had the unfortunate experience of proving the fence was in fact truly electrified...

Talking to a neighbor the damage for no power was a block behind my place - i live in a cul-de-sac - I cut through the neighbors yard and up the park with all the lights flashing - new pole came up at 8pm and power c as me on at 9:50pm - lights went out at 3:38pm. Word has it you brake you pay for it.
It's a common term on modern locomotives, but here "Field Divert" really does mean a diversion through the fields. 35006 leads a short-formed express to Bournemouth while the route is electrified for EMUs, the replacement for steam traction, its smokebox adorned with the chalk messages of saddened crews.

This is another view of the Alien exhibit at the ABC. The figures are actually in a tropical rain forest setting. What appears to be an electrified wire is a jungle cord. I'll try to get back to flickr tonight so I can see, and comment on, all the great stuff you've been posting.

DBS 'Tug' 60015 gets a move on through Rainhill with a train of imported coal bound for Fiddlers Ferry power station.
6F81 ran in the right slot for the morning light and certainly was popular with photographers.
* This scene has changed with electrification of the Liverpool & Manchester Railway, indeed coal flows from Liverpool B.T to Fiddlers Ferry power station have ceased.
With a sizable herd of goats munching their way through the weeds, pampas grass and just about everything else in the Corte Madera Marsh, the goatherd is constantly having to move the fencing from one location to another, while he herds the goats from coral to coral, with the help of his two dogs,. These are a few bundles of the fencing that he has to carry to wherever the next coral is going to be, and once he gets the fencing set up, he hooks it all up to a battery; and judging from Roma's (my German shepherd's) reaction when she touched it one day last year, it works quite well.

Saturday 21 April 2018 was a dreadful day for travellers using GWR, with points problems, signalling problems and too many IETs without suitably trained drivers, which led to the cancellation of many services and the diversion of others.
Following an IET journey from Bridgend to Swindon, I, fellow Flickrite, 'whosoever2' and another friend spent some time photographing the changing face of the station, which appears to be not too many weeks away from being fully electrified, as may be seen in this image featuring an unidentified HST, working 1A15, the 09.18 Paignton to Paddington.
I wonder what IKB might have thought of this work, I have a feeling that he would have been impressed, has anyone else an opinion?
