[TOR] SUNSET - Study (Windlight)
Green Consolidated School, #99, Est. 1916
The last consolidated school in Barnes County, North Dakota
April 2022
"The school opened in September 1916. There were three on the faculty: E.L. Bow, the principal and teacher of 8th grade and all of high school; Clara Larsen, who taught the intermediate grades; and Amy Evenson, the primary grades teacher.
The total enrollment that first year was 79.
Because there was no teacherage, the principal, his wife and daughter lived in the school’s science room and library, and Miss Evenson lived in a classroom’s cloakroom; Miss Larsen lived at home.
Books, desks and two Victrolas were purchased from the schools which had closed for the merger. Aladdin lamps were used at first. A Delco light plant was installed later. The Rural Electrification Administration brought electricity to the school in 1939." (Article from "The Forum") - So there wasn't any electricity for awhile!
The high school closed in 1956, after this students finished out high school at other schools. The last student to graduate was in 1953, she was the only student in the class
The storm of early morning June 13, 2013. A lot of wind and rain. I ended up staying up all night in hopes for some awesome storm action, but it didn't really do anything more than typical summer thunderstorm. However, other nearby towns had some tornado ration, 2 1/2 inch size hail and some slight damage to buildings and widespread power outages. Columbus, Ohio, June 13, 2013.
Very low barometer at around 29.69. (If you live within this region and have headaches tomorrow - that's because the barometer is on the rise!)
8606 stands alongside Platform 16 at Central Station with E702 Robel Railset from Clyde. The site officer is giving the crew an introduction to the possession they will be entering to take their train to North Sydney to run around. At North Sydney, the train will return to Town Hall to drop rail on the up shore line. Unlike all other infrastructure trains to have run in the last few years, this one is hauled by electric traction - not diesel.
Significantly, this was the first run of 8606 on a train in over a decade. Owned and preserved by Sydney Electric Train Society (SETS), 8606 has been in storage in Junee, and more recently Lithgow due to a lack of suitable locations in the Sydney metropolitan area. With a lot of effort and funds from the SETS group, 8606 returned to the rails under her own power in 2018. With initial trials at Lithgow successful, the locomotive was transferred to Sydney under her own power on the 27th of October.
8606 has been fitted with an ICE radio and will be made available to Pacific National to assist with the Sydney Trains maintenance train contract. This enables works trains to enter the city underground without the concern about diesel fumes affecting passengers on other sections of the underground network. Previously 48 Class fitted with exhaust scrubbers have been used, however these are still less than ideal when there is no adequate ventilation.
If people wish to donate to assist the SETS team in the ongoing costs related to 8606, or to help get veteran electric 4615 back in service again, they have set up a GoFundMe account here:

This is not an edit, as I was driving away from the shot, I saw these colors on my rear view mirror.
Tri-x shot on an Olympus-Pen F using a 25mm f 2.8 with a red filter. Developed in rodinal for seven minutes, two agitations per minute.

Shooting a landscape in Norway without electricity lines is a difficult one. Therefore I just made a composition of it.

Album artwork for my new album, ‘Lit’, set for release Jan 29. The current album, ‘2 Below 0’ & a full discography streams via Spotify & Apple Music. Album art by photographer Dan Jackson in Vancouver.
This was taken on Skyline Drive in Rapid City, South Dakota. It was a fast moving storm that dumped a ton of rain, had almost constant lighting and extremely high winds. It was an awesome show to see.
Getting off the train on my way home, I was treated to this rather intense sunset at Richlands station. 6 March 2019.
I caught this stormy sky over Cathedral Rock (Sedona, AZ) this evening. I chose this b&w presentation as it had a much more dramatic feel than the color version with flat lighting. As with all my other daytime lightning shots, this was captured with the aid of my Lightning Bug by MK Controls.
Long distance electric lines headed toward the San Rafael Reef, Emery County, Utah. Happy Telegraph Tuesday!

The Leeds to Skipton railway line was electrified in 1994. This particular 1985 service seems to be a Skipton to Bradford working. As can be seen the station was particularly quiet which is not something you would ever expect to see in todays railway world.
The first railway station in Bingley was built ion 1847 but the Midland Railway who had inherited the line chose a more central location and built this new station in 1892. These Metro-Cammell built Class 101 diesel electric multiple units were introduced in 1956 and the very last were withdrawn in 2003 having provided a long innings of service.
