Time for a little experiment! I have drawn a circle on an OS-map five hundred yards around my house and over the next few days will see how many fungal species I can find
This is a macro shot of a cluster of small fungi that seem to have no particular shape. Wish I knew a lot about mushrooms and other fungi. I wonder if they are some kind of Saddle fungus - I came across Helvella elastica on an Internet search last night, but I've no idea if they could be that.
This fungus was one of only a handful I saw at Brown-Lowery Provincial Park this year, and was taken on 23 August 2015.
After visiting my daughter in hospital the day before, I thought I had better get out and do a bit of walking, so I drove SW of the city and plucked up my courage and went into Brown-Lowery. I only went in a short way, but managed to find a few fungi fit to photograph. The light is never good in the forest, but the sun managed to come through and touch a few of the mushrooms.
I met a couple of delightful young women along the path. I tried to point out an American Three-toed Woodpecker that was unfortunately very high up in a tree and barely visible. I had seen two others further along the path. Also lots of small birds, some of which were Warblers, but they were much too fast and distant for me to get photos. Then we got talking about mushrooms : ) Had a very interesting and enjoyable chat with them.
Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC): tras estar fuera de servicio desde enero de 2018, para realizar trabajos de renovación completa de las infra y superestructuras, y la instalación de nuevos bastidores en los dos coches (fabricados por Leitner) el 17 de agosto de 2020 se puso de nuevo en servicio el funicular de la Santa Cova. Esta corta línea (262 metros) salva un desnivel de 115 m. Tiene el trazado habitual de los funiculares, con punto de cruce en el medio, y dos coches movidos desde la maquinaria situada en la estación superior. En servicio comercial, normalmente solo presta servicio uno de los dos coches. La vía es de ancho métrico y, tras la renovación, usa carriles de perfil convencional Vignole con sujeciones elásticas.
Aquí vemos el coche número 2 saliendo de la estación superior, durante un viaje descendente.

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC): after being out of service since January 2018, to carry out complete renovation work on the infra and superstructures, and the installation of new frames on the two cars (manufactured by Leitner), on August 17, 2020, the Santa Cova funicular was put into service again. This short line (262 meters) saves a slope of 115 m. It has the usual layout of the funiculars, with a crossing point in the middle, and two cars moved from the machinery located in the upper station. In commercial service, normally only one of the two cars is in service. The track is metric gauge and, after renovation, uses conventional Vignole profile rails with elastic fasteners.

Não, o esmalte não é azul mas minha câmera quis enxergar o blurple azul então.. vida que segue. Mas na ~real life ele é bem mais roxo

P.S.: Tirar foto das duas mãos é uó. Fora que a mão da foto (esquerda) é sempre mais bem tratada do que a que tira (no meu caso) hahahahahaha

These living bridges are created by the War-Khasis, a sub-tribe of the Khasis who dominate this region of India and beyond. They cut down a betel nut tree and split it in half. They hollow out a foot path in the trunk and lay it across the space they wish to bridge, usually a stream. They take the secondary roots of the Ficus elastica tree, which come out of the ground and grow aerially in the moist climate. They train these roots to grow across this hollowed out trunk. The roots attach and grow horizontally to the other side and attach themselves into the far bank. Along the way, the roots are trained to grow where needed, forming hand rails, and added support. It is an act of patience as it takes 15 years for it to become fully usable. Some of these bridges are believed to be 500 years old or more. The Umkar bridge, shown in this picture, is in the village of Siet and was destroyed by a massive flash flood a couple of years ago. What you see in this image is a replacement bridge after a couple of years of growth. It is a living bridge in the making. When done, these bridges can hold as many as 50 people.
